My fiancé and I had a wonderful tea time experience here in Pendray Inn. There was a bit of a wait coming in (they look understaffed) but their FOH manager has top notch customer service! Not only did he explain their teas really well but he gave other recommendations too (when we casually asked about where to go for happy hour).
Having afternoon tea on their patio was a great decision, though their inside seating is just as wonderful, if not better due to its well-preserved 19th/early 20th century interior.
I will definitely come back and try their full afternoon tea time menu!

We went for their afternoon tea service. It was excellent. I had the vegan one and my two companions had the west cost tea and traditional tea. Pedro our server was absolutely perfect. The food was very good and the setting was really posh. Well done.

Stayed at the inn for a quick getaway and we absolutely loved everything about the inn! Our room was cozy, we loved the feel of an older inn but were pleasantly surprised with modern amenities. Everyone we encountered were so sweet and kind. Maggie and Michael served us breakfast the few days we were there and were such pleasant people who made sure to make our breakfast time the highlight of our day. The food and tea was also amazing! Housekeeping did a wonderful job making our room feel nice and well cared for which was delightful and they made sure to restock the complimentary tea every day which was a must after a long day of walking in the rain. After our experience I will always choose this inn for our stays in Victoria!

Wife and I went for a afternoon high tea date on 12/23. We absolutely loved the atmosphere and ambience of the Pendray Tea House. Very quiet. Lovely touches and decor. My wife had the Winter Afternoon Tea and I had the Judges Tea. The tea house was out of the meatballs so I substituted the grilled brie and apricot sandwich option. We each had tea - 1837 and Endless Summer - both of which were very tasty. Although we both loved the atmosphere and the tea - the food itself was a let down. The steam bun was very dry along with the beer/cheese scone. The sandwiches for the winter afternoon tea had little filling and the apricot was missing from grilled Brie and apricot sandwich. The judges tea said it came with a ginger snap cookie which was not present either. The items that were not let downs were the lavender scones, triple berry jam and the sausage, onion jam and pickle buns.

Lovely experience for afternoon tea! A little more expensive than I was expecting but well worth the splurge for a ladies afternoon tea. Everything was beautifully prepared and delicious, you order a set “tower” each and they grouped them together so the photo shown is two servings. Everything was so yummy it was hard to share! Our waiter was very sweet and helpful, and shared some history of the house with us which was fun. I will definitely be back for another special occasion in the future!

Lovely high-tea menu. The space is a little small, and we end up shuffling the table a lot to fit everyone's basic tea order. Atmosphere is on the quiet and relaxing side with very at home feel. Staffs are very quick and pleasant.

We really enjoyed our time here. A big group of us came for tea and many in our group were first timers. They left very impressed with their bellies full!

A lovely, relaxing, and truly worthwhile special tea experience.
As a disabled guest, I was treated with great friendliness, kindness, and consideration being helped by Sam and table-waited by Maddie which made the experience a comfortable happy one. The food and tea were delicious and the surroundings were impeccable. Beautiful views, flowers, music and crisp white table linens set the backdrop for fresh handmade tea sandwiches and sweets enhanced by fragrant teas.

Beautiful old building. Large bedrooms. NO AIR CONDITIONING. Only oscillating fans. It was hot. NO ELEVATOR. STEEP STEPS. Two washers and dryers in the next building. Definitely a plus. Delicious breakfasts. Wonderful employees! Kind, patient , helpful.
Very convenient. Deck is an easy walk for many delicious restaurants. Easy walk to downtown. Restaurants have vegetarian options that are exceptionally delicious.

Charming Victorian hotel across from the ferry terminals. Built in 1897, this was a family home turned into a hotel. The main floor is the restaurant and a meeting room, the second and third floors are guest rooms. There is no elevator in this building, but the staff is wonderful and will transfer your bags to your room, saving you the effort.

The morning tea is wonderful, various teas are available, as is coffee. The breakfast begins with sliced bananas and a small dollop of cream. Then the serving tray with scones, salmon on toast, small quiche, turkey sausage and French toast is delivered to the table. Do try the bacon jam, it's wonderful.

Such a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere I definitely recommend!
We had a beautiful afternoon tea and a great experience! There are so many tea houses and restaurants in Victoria and I have to say this is my favourite after 1 visit!!!

Fresh, great portions and a unique selection of teas makes Pendray a perfect choice! My husband chose to have his tea iced and he couldn’t get over how awesome the scones were! I chose the rose tea and found the selection of sweet and savoury on the tower absolutely perfect!
Can’t wait to go back! Also they have a little breakfast and a a la carte menu making it easy to go back for a small snack or simple meal :)

Pendary is a real taste of history in my opinion. The service staff are knowledgeable and very kind. I have a 5 year old who wouldn't eat any of the food they offered but out server was so delightful.

I stayed at the Pendray Inn and Tea House at the beginning of March and it was a lovely experience. The room was clean and the house was so neat! The gardens were starting to bloom so I cannot imagine how pretty they are in their prime!

The Inn is very close to everything. We walked right over from the ferry dock and were able to check in early. The front desk called us a taxi to the Craigdarroch Castle but we were able to walk everywhere else.

The breakfast in the morning was delightful!

The staff was super friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend staying at the Pendray Inn and Tea House!

I went to this place by in September 2017 and it was amazing, unfortunately today was not the same. The service was very poor but what was even more disappointed was the food. The scones were under cooked, we were told fresh scones were being made but instead they re-heated the same ones we sent back. Initially we had 8 scones and they came back with 4, which were now burned. They forgot to refresh our tea and to provide us with new cutlery or side dishes for those of whom gave their used once upon returning the scones. On the other hand I must praise the waiter attitude towards the situation as he took care of the bill for us. For a $52 dollars per person is was very disappointing.

I came here for afternoon tea with my family, and had a fairly good experience. In my opinion, the ambience Is much nicer than the afternoon tea at the Empress, and the service was better as well. The sandwiches were nice, however I wasn't crazy about the white chocolate lavender scones. The earl grey scones, on the other hand, were delicious. I especially appreciated the fact that the mommy and me kids menu was an excellent price at only $14! I would give 4 stars, however the clotted cream wasn't proper clotted cream, and we waited a fairly long time to be served our tea and food, despite the fact that the place wasn't. Nevertheless, I would recommend this tea house for anyone looking for a nice afternoon tea while in Victoria.

Lovely old style manor house, with a view of the harbour. Interesting options for the afternoon tea. Some food is baked/cooked in house, with some desserts coming from local bakeries and patisseries.

A couple of the desserts weren't to our liking, which is why I'm only giving 4 stars, however everything else was well worth the visit. Will definitely return to sample their breakfast options.

Had the winter tea! I ordered the gluten free option and rose tea. Both were good, although the gf sandwiches were a bit too cold to my liking (like you knew they were refrigerated,) the rest was excellent however! This place has a nice atmosphere and our server was very tentative. It's an alright option if you want high tea that isn't as expensive as the Empress.

I went here for the "Winter tea" with my family. For $44 plus tax and tip per person, you get your choice of tea and it comes with a cute mini cup of soup and a tower of food which includes tea sandwiches, scones and desserts. I felt full after so maybe don't go here on a full stomach! They do have a couple of decaf tea options available if you prefer to not have caffeine.

Outstanding! The house is amazing with original pre 1900 construction and furniture. The breakfast room is great and carlos is fantastic! The queen annes room was very spacious and elegant with a balcony overlooking the harbour. The house is light up at night and from your room you can see the empress with all its lights. Highly recommended stay!

Oh my. Our local tea service will never be viewed the same. The West Coast tea was absolutely 5 star amazing. The Winter tea was very, very good. Somehow they made an egg salad Sandwhich taste amazing.
My only complaint was the cucumber Sandwhich as it was quite bland but it was easy to overlook with all of the other delicacies to be enjoyed.
The building is a beautiful piece of history. Lovely stained glass and beautiful woodwork.

Four of us stopped in for their Traditional Afternoon Tea service. We ordered two which was more than enough for the four of us. Tea is included.

Nice old house, great service and we loved the atmosphere.

Stayed for two nights in the Gatsby Mansion. Stayed in the Emily Carr suite, on the top floor of the mansion. Terrific views from the room windows. The mansion is an historic location. Be forewarned: the masnion is quite old. The Emily Carr suite lacked air conditioning, but the room never felt too hot, just mildly uncomfortable in the hottest part of the day. The hotel provided fan was enough to mitigate most of the discomfort. Staff were incredible. Friendly, welcoming, I felt like they were truly happy to have me stay with them. Staff were very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and were quick to assist with any questions regarding services and sights in the local area.

Beautiful interior, well known as the spot to go for English style tea. The tables in the restaurant are set accordingly with good attention to detail. I haven't stayed at the hotel, but the downstairs area seems nice. Picture is of the hotel lobby.

I won a gift certificate to this hotel through a silent auction fundraiser (well done Huntington supporting the United Way) to encourage my dad to visit. When I booked the room, the hotelier said he would give him the best room. True to his word, he did; tricky part was that it was on the third floor of an old mansion without an elevator and my dad is 94 (note for those with elderly folks). Thankfully my dad coped with the stairs and I didn't have to tell my siblings that I killed dad with a hotel coupon. Every one one of the staff were stars: from the front desk clerk who ran my dad's card in a different way when he couldn't remember his pin, to the housekeeper who ran back upstairs to check he hadn't left anything in the room, to everyone who greeted us and made us feel welcome and helped my dad. We sat in the sitting rooms and played scrabble, he had a nice breakfast every morning, we made hot chocolates in the keurig. I recommend this hotel for anyone with VIPs like my Dad visiting Victoria. Thanks for a wonderful visit Huntington: you rock.

Decent food but not spectacular. Caters to tourists and probably does decent business because of this. The building is lovely so they should stop putting big ugly banners outside which make it look like a cheap all-you-can-eat buffet kind of place.

We held our daughter's wedding reception at the Gatsby Mansion. I cannot say enough about the staff at the Gatsby--from their vendor suggestions to providing a wonderful buffet selection, and assisting with the set up and take-down of decorations. Chef Travis' food was excellent and everyone raved about it. The staff was friendly, relaxed, flexible and was there to accommodate our every need. I would highly recommend a wedding reception (seats approx. 60 people inside but can seat 75 in warm weather on the outside verandah), a family gathering or a work-style event.
The grounds are lovely and the Mansion has charm and history. It overlooks Victoria's inner harbour and is very conveniently located downtown.
I found the prices exceptionally reasonable and we were given a great room rate by the Huntingdon Manor for our out-of-town guests. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Excellent restaurant - interior was elegant charm and food was very good; view of the harbor - priceless! The management and staff were very welcoming and kindly accommodated my handicapped mother up and down the entry stairs. We were pampered and treated royally, including site-seeing advice. The experience was so lovely that we went back THREE times in our 1 week visit to Victoria. Breakfast with the sun glistening on the bay was the best!

My husband and I first went to the Gatsby Mansion in the spring 2009, when we were pregnant with our first child. We were both blown away by the charm of the mansion and the other houses on the property. It has a rich history, and it has been so well maintained throughout the years. The features of the home are breath taking. And the service was wonderful, the inn-keeper at the time, Natasha, was amazing! She baked us fresh cookies every day for afternoon tea (being pregnant, I truely loved that!!), and she was there to answer all of our questions regarding the history of the mansion, and of Victoria itself.

It was an amazing experience, and it has become a very special place for us. We will be going back this July for our wedding anniversary and will be bringing our baby girl along to enjoy it with us.
