If anybody is trying to find good deals for hotels visit RoomBully. com booked a hotel on there and they had the best rates anywhere!

This hotel is a diamond in the rough! Historic hotel in the midst of a modern city. Beautiful touches including ceiling fans and fireplaces in the bed rooms. Old world charm with all the modern amenities. Loved it

Location exceptional within Gaslamp area. Couple blocks from water. Great staging area. Airport close. Take a bus for $2.50 to downtown area and walk to hotel with luggage from drop off point. Parking is $25 a day I believe

Hotel had a very distinct and eclectic feel. Very cool actually. Cozy and clean. Furniture in bedroom was a bit 80s/90s, but it was of no concern because balcony and bed were great. Lobby was also a nice touch. Would stay again since price is decent in this area for a 3 Star

Be aware walls are very thin. You will almost always hear people opening and closing their room doors no matter how quiet they try to be. With that said we slept great on the comfy beds. Water pressure and water temp could be a bit funky at times, but loved San Diego area so much and I’m not about to pick apart a 3 Star hotel over minor things. Hopefully get the chance to stay again. Recommend if you want a unique hotel

Very interesting historic hotel. Overall enjoyed my stay. Can't beat the location. Price was very reasonable for downtown. The rooms could use a little TLC.

My fiancee and I are in the middle of planning a wedding at the Horton Grand hotel, and so far we've been very happy with everything. Jennifer has been amazingly accommodating and I can't wait to have our big day there!

Hotel is in a cool location in Gaslamp, within walking distance to the convention center and Harbor Blvd. The historic building is beautiful. It's a smaller hotel that doesn't have the same amenities of a larger chain hotel like pools and fitness room, but what it lacks in amenities, it makes up in charm.

5

Very nice hotel in the gas lamp district, close to everything we wanted to do. Friendly staff with clean but small rooms. Fireplace was nice but the bed was too close to see or enjoy it. Very nice hotel bar and restaurant but items weren't always available from the menu at either one. We arrrived early and were told that if we waited until noon to check in we wouldn't be charged for early check in. When we checked out the "early check in fee" was the first item on our bill.

It's a really nice looking hotel, they still kept the old look and feel of a historic hotel but put some nice fresh paint on the walls and threw in flat screen TVs. The hotel bar is awesome and really beautiful. The bartender makes a really good old fashioned and the happy hour is decently priced. A lot of other reviews complain of the noise and they're not wrong. It's not the worst hotel I've stayed at but it sounded like my upstairs neighbor was trying to destroy his Fitbit step goal and I was along for the ride. They also charge a fee for an early check-in, even if your room is ready which I found odd. Other than those two things, it's in a fantastic location and you're a quick 5 minute walk for tons of great bars and restaurants so if you can find it on special like I did (around $100 a night) then you should jump on it.

Not bad, pretty nice looking place. The walls are paper thin, this is not an exaggeration. You can hear everything going on at the tavern, every conversation. You can hear someone whisper in the room next to you. Speaking of so, I was awake at 11:50pm to the neighbors having sex. Lastly, the valet is $45 a night while the parking garage around the corner is 15 a night.

Overall a pretty great hotel. The whole ambience of the hotel is awesome. However, the pillows were terrible. They were all flat and about half the width of a standard pillow. That is really my only complaint though.

This is a fun Hotel right in the middle of the Gaslamp section with lots of local activity. Easy access to restaurants, clubs and walking distance to the convention center or ballpark. It's a bit noisy at night especially on the weekend. They have live music in the bar downstairs until 10 pm. The hotel itself is a renovated old style Hotel with elegant charm.

Great hotel for the price. I attend work conference held at the Hyatt/Marriott/convention center. This hotel is fairly close (~7-10 min walk). The hotel is a great value. The toiletries are ok, but not excellent. The restaurant and bar are quite good, maybe a touch overpriced but competitive with local places. Beds and pillows are comfortable. Small coffee pot in the room. I've been here twice and the noise from the street is minimal. And the hotel is less than half the Hyatt (even with the"group block rate" for work). Will definitely stay here again.

9

Cozy, historic hotel that's really well-appointed. The renovation was done perfectly, so we didn't lack any modern amenities where we needed them. Right in the heart of downtown, great view if you get one of the balcony rooms, and a good whiskey bar downstairs which had live music everyday that we were in. Their inner courtyard is beautiful to just sit back and do nothing. Except for the lack of enough charging points in the rooms, I have nothing to complain about.

They are also very reasonable for the value you get (150-200 USD/night depending on the room) and it doesn't feel like living in the middle of Grand Central train station like it sometimes does in other similarly-priced hotels. Great place overall!

We were looking for wedding venues. While we chose another venue, we had a great experience. The staff was very kind and helpful. Some of the additional touches, like the elevator displays and historical significance really put our experience at the 5 star mark!

Not bad, just not special or all that great. Comfortable bed, but a lot of street noise got into the room. The bathroom was clean but the shower head was at chest level (I'm 6 feet tall). Housekeeping came into our room without waiting after knocking just once at 8:30 am. There is no complementary breakfast and I'd say the buffet is overpriced but there are plenty of good places to eat within a block or two. If I went back to San Diego I would look for other places first.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel!! Such a charming gem in the Gaslamp. The room was spacious and clean, all staff were very helpful and friendly, and the location is perfect. I knocked it down a star bc my room was on the side of the night club next door and this kept me awake for hours. There were no ear plugs in the room or available for purchase in the store, and when I went down to the main desk they unfortunately did not have any either (although the man who helped me said they had run out). If there is a nightclub next door, earplugs should be placed in the rooms adjacent to it prior to check-in. Other than that the stay was wonderful, romantic, and all around relaxing. I highly recommend this hotel!

First time here. Can't wait to come back. What a gem! This is a first class hotel with an incredible history. Facilities are top-notch. Gorgeous architecture with beautiful antique furniture. Clean, clean, clean. Awesome ambiance, mood lighting at night, bright and cheerful by day with lots of windows, fantastic bar, ample and tasty buffet breakfast, wonderful staff. Our room was beautiful, clean, high quality everything. Gets our vote for the best place we've ever stayed in this city. We've been to San Diego many times.

This has got to be by far the coolest hotel in San Diego. Wyatt Earp used to stay here back in the old western days. The history behind this hotel is absolutely phenomenal! The manager Nick gave us an amazing tour and told us all the history of the hotel. The story about the staircase is amazing. He even took us into the haunted hotel room itself. They have an amazing scotch selection! The best I've ever seen. And all the employees are super friendly. If you're in San Diego and want to have a very unique hotel stay, check out the Horton. You won't regret it.

Horton Grand Hotel - Heart of the town, in the town
Really lovey hotel that lives up to its name.
As it is in the town’s heart, it makes for easy get around.
The hotel has lovely staff, especially in Salt n Whiskey where we were treated so well on Christmas Day.
Highly recommended hotel in San Diego.

I love the history here! Really cool history of San Diego and the building specifically. Beautiful architecture. The gaslamp district is cool, but man the homeless population makes everything pretty gross. The best part of the area in my opinion is the bay with the ships.

Beautiful and historic hotel. Great location just a few blocks away from the main street. Staff is super friendly. Only cons are no parking available so either valet or parking garage and no refrigerator in the room. Otherwise, would highly recommend this hotel.

The front desk was very nice and welcoming. The room I had was very clean. Although it is in the middle of the Gaslamp district, you couldn’t really hear anything from the streets. It is within walkable distances to restaurants and shopping stores. Great place to stay!

The area around the hotel is awesome. It's got a ton of great bars and restaurants. The hotel itself is also very cool. The only issue I've had is that several members of the staff weren't very easy to get along with. There were several issues with getting our rooms, despite booking them months ago.

The hotel has a nice bar and lobby area with beautiful staircases. We booked a 3rd floor room with a king sized bed. It overlooked the street near the front entrance. The ceilings we're probably 18 feet high, which made the room feel very spacious. It included a bay view style window and a balcony which allowed us to see many of San Diego's high rises and enjoy our AM coffee outside. Staff members were very efficient and courteous. Valet parking is an additional $42 for 24 hours and includes in and out service... Otherwise, finding parking on your own will limit you to metered machines or attended lots a block or two away which may save you $10. Overall, my wife and I were quite happy with our stay.

The room itself feels a bit dated, but served its purpose. Stayed here during Comic Con 2017 and was definitely satisfied with my stay. The fireplace is a nice touch! We had a mini fridge plus a microwave. Utensils were also supplied.

The room was nice and cool and having the option of using fans instead of the air conditioning was nice. The location is perfect. Not too far away from anything, and the entrance is on a one way street. Sort of tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets.

My only small gripe would probably be no signs for the ice machine. Not a huge deal at all. One quick call to the front desk supplied the information that i needed.

Being a transplant from the East Coast it brought back thoughts of home. Vintage beauty at it's best. Price is right and decor is absolutely a walk in the park. Staff are friendly and just makes your stay even better. Can pretty much walk to do many things you won't need your car till it's time to leave.

I stayed a night here during a girl’s weekend trip. Such an easy place to find and valet was great. We checked in on Saturday at 3pm on the dot. No line. Check in was fast and easy navigation to the room. Good size room. Clean. Access to balcony. A lot of storage for clothes and items in room. Not so much counter room/space or cabinets in our bathroom. But it wasn’t too big of a problem for us. We managed. Ice machine was close and a house keeper was near and was nice enough to give us a couple extra towels we knew we’d need later. Over our stay there was no issues. Nice guests and nice employees.
NOW!! Almost 2 weeks later I realized I left behind 4 items! Two piece bikini a beach towel, and a cover up. I called immediately when I realized at 10:30 at night. I spoke to Jasmine at the front desk. She looked up reports and found my room number and the items I described on this written report. She said to call back the next day and speak with the Concierge. He took care of the lost and found items and he would have to pull them from their storage. I did just that. I spoke with Austin. He told me he’d call me back. I was worried. It wasn’t that valuable to me, it could be replaced, but it was pricey. He called me back in about 12 minutes. He had my items in hand. I was so excited. I lived almost 2 hours away but I said I would go pick them up when I would be in the area for work.
Again, easy to find, valet let me park right in front with no issue. Ran in, grabbed all my items that were bagged with no issue. Showed my ID and that was it.
I have unfortunately left items behind over the past in hotels. NEVER have I EVER been able to retrieve them. EVER!!! This was the first hotel that was loyal, honest, trustworthy, and dependable. I couldn’t believe it. They were on top of it. I would stay here again with no hesitation. Such a great environment!

Cute old style hotel. I liked the old style, kind of like going back in time. Old hotel, pricey, but nice experience. Shower head was too low, if you're 6 ft. Tall, shower head comes up to your chest and is annoying because you have to squat down to wash. Nice hotel, old style, pricey, low shower head. But I liked it overall.

Great hotel in an awesome, trendy location! This hotel looks amazing from outside and doesn't disappoint inside either. Check in was pretty quick with friendly staff. The room was fairly small, but very beautifully furnished and even had a fireplace. The A/C was thermostat controlled which was very nice. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very good with good water pressure and hot water. The biggest problem was that there were very few outlets, especially by the bed which was annoying for charging devices at night. The location was great! There was no onsite parking but parking can be found nearby, although it's not cheap. This hotel is in a very nice, upscale and trendy neighbourhood. There were tons of great food and coffee options within walking distance plus there appeared to be a good amount of nightlife options. I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful hotel with Old San Diego charm. Balcony rooms at no additional cost. Working gas fireplace in the room. Beautiful furnishings throughout. Clean and comfy. Our room was a bit small, but provided everything we needed. Close to many attractions. Friendly, professional service. Be prepared for the $42 per day parking. If you are coming and going you are not going to find a better deal in the area, but it was a bit of a shock to me.

Very charming hotel. The room was nice, and the balcony overlooking the courtyard was an excellent place to linger over coffee. The room had a gas fireplace, which was nice. However, you couldn't see or feel any heat from the flames from the bed, they were very low.

A classic older hotel. Nicely renovated with modern amenities but retaining a few quirks due to its age such as the toilet being located six inches further from wall than normal making a small bathroom a wee bit more cramped. However, this adds charm in my opinion. The bed was comfortable, staff were attentive. Street was quiet. Room had a balcony that opened onto open air enclosed courtyard. Would stay here again

Spent many nights here while working in Tijuana. Absolutely loved it. Each room is decorated differently, and it is the only place I have ever stayed that changed the comforter as well as the sheets!
The journals in each room were enjoyable to browse and read stories of honeymooners and people who spent anniversaries. Very cool place, I will return someday!

The hotel has a "homey" feel to it- it made me think of grandma. It's an old building but well kept and updated. The suit we was just big enough for the 5 of us. The beds were comfortable and the balcony was spacious- it came with 2 tables and some some chairs. The bathroom was kind of big. The water pressure is not great, but the shower head does a good job. I also liked the towels (soft). I think it's a good spot if you're staying for a couple of nights.

This was my first time booking a room at the Horton Grand Hotel and everything about my stay was amazing. The hotel was so gorgeous with a super cute and clean room, they have a beautiful bar area with live music at night and the outdoor courtyard was my favorite place to relax while we had breakfast from their restaurant. I also loved that all the staff there were extremely welcoming, polite, and very helpful with anything that we needed. Lastly the location downtown was perfect! We were walking distance from countless restaurants and bars and didn’t have to worry about driving anywhere. I HIGHLY recommend booking a room as you will not be disappointed!!! Thank you to everyone at the Horton Grand Hotel for making our stay so enjoyable.

Hotel is beautiful, amenities are great, and location is perfect, but I'm mixed on guest service. Spent all day traveling, went to a concert and returned to my room to find that my AC was not working and my room was 87 degrees. I turned off the AC and informed front desk, but they weren't too interested and said they'd make a note of it for maintenance in the morning. Exhausted, I retreated back to my room and kept my front door open to sleep. Using the hallway AC to cool my room was the only way I could get to sleep. Slept from about 11p-3a with my door open. No service recovery attempts made by management.

Horton Grand Hotel is a beautiful historic hotel in a prime downtown location. I only really visited the bar area, but can attest to it's wonder. Starting with the wall of whiskey, scotch, and bourbon from around the world in different aged variants. A glass of whiskey can range from $7- $100. Their house cocktails are equally amazing, I would recommend the Penicillin personally. This is definitely a smaller, upscale bar setting. Plenty of places to lounge and relax with a nice drink. Our evening was accompanied by a wonderful pianist/singer performing throughout the night. It is a great spot to unwind from a bisy day, or celebrate a very special occasion.

Great Hotel. Makes us feel like we're movie stars from back in the day. Great place for a stay cation or vacation or any cation. Fair prices. Beautiful hotel. Loads of charm. Great staff. Awesome food and bar. The only request would be more accessible ice machines. I ran half naked across the hotel at 4am until I found it. But... It was kind of thrilling so 5 stars it is. Love this place.

Lovely rooms with fun antique furniture! Good location, can walk to lots of great restaurants and bars. Nice bar at hotel with a huge whisky selection! Our room overlooking the courtyard was a bit noisy because of the speakers mounted just below our balcony, but they were turned off at night, so we slept well. The balcony was not lit at all at night, so we couldn't spend time out there after dark.

I stayed there March 2016 after having surgery. I was alone and not feeling well at all and the staff treated me with respect and did everything in their power to get me in my room and comfortable even before check in time! They were so kind and helpful. The rooms were antique and lovely. The entire place made me feel like I'd stepped back in time more than 100 years and saw only the Victorian beauty if it. It was extremely clean and well stocked for my stay. You'd think as old as the hotel is it would be creaky and loud, but I was undisturbed all night. Even the streets below were pretty quiet. The little restaurant and bar inside the hotel are AMAZING, I ate in the lovely courtyard and didn't want to leave. The woodwork and decor of the entire place was a site to behold. I would live there if I could! Not a bad thing to say about this place.

Our coffee pot didn't work for 3 days, and we reported it 3 times. They were kind enough to give us free cups of coffee at the restaurant, but it was a real inconvenience. Did like the location as there were so many places to eat and it was convenient to markets that had vegan food - hard to travel when you are vegan, but we did great with Jimbo's close by! Would have been awesome if the hotel restaurant offered some plant-based food options, as many places nearby did. Close to trolley stop and bike rentals all over the area, and being only 4 miles from the airport meant we didn't have to rent a car. It was a very quaint hotel. Lobby areas were impeccably clean, but our room could have used a good dusting of everything (headboard, ceiling fan, etc.). I would still recommend.

What an amazing history this place has. Wyatt Earp used to stay there all the time. Well, if it's good enough for Wyatt, then it's good enough for me! I'm your huckleberry! I will definitely be staying there in the near future!

While attending a social event at this hotel I was in awe of how beautiful the interior was. The exterior is your typical downtown San Diego hotel, but they do such a wonderful job of keeping it up and making sure all the guests are taken care of. If you are planning on staying here I would highly recommend it as it is close to many cute shops and restaurants.

The Horton Grand Hotel is adorable! There is an elegant meeting area in the middle for events that you overlook as you go up the elevator. The rooms are well kept and the hotel over all is cleaner than many places I've stayed. The location is in downtown San Diego so you're close to anywhere you could want to go. The building is also really easy to locate, even after enjoying a few drinks. The staff are beyond friendly and helpful with anything you need.

The room was nice, old fashioned but in a charming kind of way. They could touch up the plaster in the bathroom but it wasn't mildewy or anything so that was fine, just something to note. The room was clean and had a fireplace, which was pleasant. What I docked stars for was the noise. Very thin walls! They had a live piano player in the bar area that we could hear clearly in our room on the 3rd floor until 10:30pm on a Thursday night. Didn't appreciate that per se but it wasn't unreasonably late considering we were on vacation. Overall I recommend it if you're a heavy sleeper or if you play music or white noise like we ended up doing.

No complaints whatsoever. Walking distance to Petco, and convention center. Short drive, or bike ride to the USS MIDWAY, and harbor cruises.
I would stay here again.

Beautiful old hotel furnished with antique furniture throughout and very well appointed and charming rooms.. We loved it. King room with working gas fireplace. Old hotel, so the rooms can be a bit noisy next door and above depending on the other guests.. Other than that.. AWESOME! Last thing.. Parking is $35 a night.

Nice place
The first night we came here we found out the the sheets of the master bed were very dirty( they had big black spots) anyway as soon as the staff found out they apologized and changed our room instantly.
The staff were very nice and welcoming. The furniture was old-fashioned and lovely. The air conditioning was fine considering that we came in August (the hottest month in the year for California)
They had free wifi but its a little slow. It's fine if we want to use it for whatsapp, twitter and instagram, but it too slow for playing videos on yourube.
The TV was nice but they only had cable.
The location of this hotel is great. It's near many restaurants, a nice supermarket called Ralphs and the lovely horton plaza mall. The city tour takes you from a spot near the hotel and by the way it's an amazing tour that I highly recommend. It's doesn't have the most comfortable bus seats in the world but it takes you to some very nice tourist attractions. Through that tour I also booked another tour when the bus stopped at sea port village that took you to sea where you can see some sea lions. The staff of the tour were very nice and informative as well.
