Great stay. This hotel has so much history amazing spacious room and bathroom. It is very comfortable and centrally located. Personal touches really added to the stay. If something can be a bit better it is breakfast but it is a perfect hotel and in every other way

The hotel was clean, spacious, well placed, and quite isolated from disturbances. It's very close to the Grande Place (5 minutes walk). I understand why some reviews stated that the decoration was a bit " over the top" - it's quite an opulent old style- but I believe that cleanliness and comfort are the most important thing. We ate at the restaurant, which was very good. A special mention to Gregory who is a waiter there. His English is impeccable, his diligence perfect, and his culinary advice excellent, but most of all, his sense of humour made us feel at home. We stayed three nights there and had a great time.

This hotel is something else! Service is top notch! It gives you the impression that the rich and famous would stay here when visiting Brussels. Very good location as it's less than a 10 minute walk from Grand-Place. At the very least, pop in and see the decor in this hotel, it's absolutely stunning. The rooms are super classy and comfortable, more like small suites. Got a really great deal on Expedia, so we didn't even need to break the bank.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Hotel Metropole! They were very helpful in calling the airport for us to take care of our delayed luggage. The location was centrally located and allowed us to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go in Brussels. The staff was all very friendly and made us feel welcome during our stay.

Beautiful hotel. Decorated as an elegant castle.
Nice room but a little old.
The water in bathroom is changing from cold to hot and stream is not right.
At breakfast excellent coffee but not a single vegetable.... omelette costs extra...
Great location in the centre.

We had a lovely stay, it made our anniversary really special. The room was spacious and very clean, fluffy robes and slippers where a fantastic touch. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful with a variety to choose from, self made pancakes where tasty. I will hopefully be back for the Christmas holidays.

Excellent hotel, very well located close to grand place and high concentration of restaurants. It's a very old hotel, it has kept it's grand charm, gorgeous detail in the interior of the hotel.
Our room was comfortable, light and spacious, housekeeping everyday was to a high standard. In fact, I would stay here again.

Loved our 5 night stay at Hotel Metropole! The hotel is beautiful and conveniently located. The staff was friendly and helpful. We booked two superior twin rooms and were connecting rooms. The decor was not as extravagant as the suites but the room was cozy and clean. 2 cans of coke, 2 Stellas, and 2 bottles of water were provided for us for free. A metro station is directly in front of the hotel. 10 min train ride or 12 min taxi/Uber ride for about €12-15 to Midi station. The Grand place is within 10 min walking distance to the hotel. Plenty of shopping, markets, and waffles within a block. Would definitely stay here again next time in Brussels!

Classic hotel with a lot of history. Staff are extremely helpful. Yes, decor is a little dated because of its move to preserve much of its classical look. Twin beds, like across Europe, can be small and not the most comfortable, but serviceable. Very convenient location.

Location is excellent. Public transport reached the hotel entrance. The hotel is literally in the midst of downtown Brussels. Staff are extremely courteous and helpful. Tons of restaurants around. Lots to see within walking distance. Amazing experience!!!

Great looking hotel in Brussels center, building works taking place outside the hotel but nothing happening on the weekend we stayed there so no noise.

Check in was easy enough, we had two rooms booked they were on the same floor so that worked well. We stayed on the 5th floor.

The rooms were of nice size with the usual desk, beds and chairs, the room didn't have a kettle but 6 drinks in the mini bar were complimentary (water, coke and beer).

After checking in and leaving the air conditioning on we came back to our room to find around 5/6 flies in the main bedroom, we informed housekeeping and by the time we had returned from dinner the flies had all gone.

The beds are comfy and the pillows a little of the soft size, but there were extra pillows and blankets in the cupboard.

The bathroom amenities included shampoo body wash and soap and I will have expected more since it's a 5 star hotel, robes slippers and additional bathroom items could be requested but were not standard.

Ordered room service for breakfast and went with the express option (mini croissants, coffee and orange juice) for 10 euros pp and delivery of 5€ for the room service.

Three are a lot of decent places to eat and drink around the hotel. Within 10 mins walk we had options in every direction. Very good location.

thus hotel is a grand old lady. But she does need some updating. Regardless. The location is excellent(even with construction) and the staff are AWESOME ! Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable...simply great. I believe that updates are being dine gradually. In my room the bath was brand new. Alas the carpet nor the bedlinens were. But it's still a place I'll be happy to return to

Stayed 2 nights at a superior double. The bed is super wide and spacious, though the interior is smaller than the pictures would lead you to think. It appears that there is still some construction or maintenance underway, as the phone in the bathroom (yes, in the bathroom) was crooked and some insulation was visible. The bathroom as a whole was very nice. Overall, I enjoyed my stay there. The hotel has an old-time feel to it, comfortable beds, nice staff, and excellent location. The only downside were the signs of maintenance in the room (crooked bathroom phone being the standout)

A hotel with a lot of character and history. It is a EPS (European Physical Society) "Historic Site" and this is for a reason (please see the photos and your mouth will fall open to see the names of the giants of physics). It's been visited by many famous people as well. Staff is smiley, professional and always helpful. Rooms are clean, spacious, bathrooms are modern. Restaurant is small but the food is really good. However, it gets crowded on Saturdays so you need to book in advance. On Saturdays you can listen the live piano at the lobby. Overall staying at this hotel is a very pleasant experience.

The Metropole does not look much from the outside but as soon as I stepped through the revolving door it was like stepping back in time and I loved it. The style and elegance is just wonderful , my stay was enhancing by the charming staff, everyone, with no exceptions were welcoming. The fresh flowers looked and smelt gorgeous. My room was grand, warm, good towels, bed was twins, I would of prefered a double. No kettle. Breakfast room great with a wonderful choice of food, a tasty wide selection. Close to the center and a 15 minute walk to the Nord train station. I stayed there Easter 2018 work was in progress refurbishing the squares which may be noisy but should be completed soon.

Beautiful deco/nouveau room with padded booths. Eell spaced tables. A bit faded in a charming way. Proper old school service. Food I had was well cooked and tasty. Some more creative stuff on the menu than you might expect. A bit pricey but a classic.

This has been my most enjoyable hotel experience. The hotel's decor is art nouveau inspired and is felt throughout. We stayed in a luxurious suit which was very comfortable, quiet and beautifully decadent. Finally the fine people who are hired to run and look after the hotel were so helpful and attentive. Overall a truly memorable experience. Thank you to everyone at the hotel!

The (privilege) room was spacious and equipped with a large and very comfortable bed. Complementary minibar was filled with two water, two coke, and two local beer! Room service: glasses we had used the night before were not cleaned, room was not vacuumed and a cleaning sponge was left in the bathroom!
Breakfast buffet offered a tasty and delightful variety of cold and warm dishes. Unfortunately, the square outside the hotel is currently under construction. However, since we visited Bruxelles on a weekend there was no noise from the construction side.

Hotel Metropole really is a very nice hotel. The rooms are tidy and have a unique classic style. The breakfast is really great here. You can tell that this hotel isn't what it used to be, but the age of he place comes with a great atmosphere.

If anyone is looking for great deals on hotels go to HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around...

A great stay. The hotel is beautiful, with gold leaf ceilings, chandeliers and amazing art deco details. The rooms were classically furnished and all slightly different. Yes it's tired in a few places but given the age of the place it provides so much character. Staff were friendly, helpful and had excellent English. Location wise it's fantastic for local sites; especially Christmas markets, museums and churches. The subway De Brouckere is nearest. Fantastic for a weekend break.

Staff were excellent, Joy was so happy and helpful as we're all the staff. Wonderful bar/cafe with real art deco charm. Obviously as an old building certain facilities could be better but it's a great location and if you are looking to explore Brussels it's perfect.

5

Old world charm with an old world cafe. However, as a hotel for the business traveler this hotel is lacking some essentials like good internet, gym or coffee machine in the room. Mini bar has free beer so for people with a leisurely agenda that may be a plus. Location is Central and convenient next to metro. Construction work on the square makes getting taxi but less convenient.

7

We had a good time at the Metropole and it still has the charm of an old grand hotel. The rooms are quite nice if you get one in the old part of the hotel. BUT there is also an newer part (maybe from the 70s) and we got a room there at first. Those have nothing to do with an old grand hotel and you should go to reception immediately and ask for a new room.

The hotel is classy and lies in a perfect spot of Brussels. Our room was really clean but really old and needed renovation. The bathroom was clean and well taken care of. The Hotel is of great historic importance. I would strongly recommend it and would be happy to stay there again.

This is one of my favourite hotels in the world. It's where the world famous Black Russian cocktail was invented. It's steeped in history and you can feel it when you walk in. Beware on the upper floors though, I was walking to my room on my own very late at night when a ghostly looking lady seemed to appear from nowhere and follow me all the way to my room. She was walking slowly but staring right at me the whole time, I unlocked the door to my room as quickly as I could and only just made it inside before she was upon me, I then locked it. I didn't hear anything after that. It hasn't put me off though. I could sit out on the terrace drinking Kwak and just watch the world go by for hours there. It's a beautiful building and hotel.

this is a very nice historic hotel, or is usually, as when i was there the street in front was torn up with barricades all about and armoured vehicles parked in front with heavily armed soldiers. the service is excellent and the staff is very kind. the room on the other hand did show a bit of wear and was smaller than listed and had a terrible view of the back of the hotel: i was put on the top secured floor for some reason. if i would have received a better room and the street not torn um, it would five stars. the location, is excellent. just far enough from the bars and noise but close enough to walk to the Grand Place center in 5 minutes, and 10 minutes from Midi Central and 30 seconds from the Brussels Metro.

Coffee is good, breakfast not so. If you wanna just sit at the terrace (which is basically the entrance and usually empty) you must order a drink or food... even if you are staying at the hotel. Internet is super slow, unless you buy the 15€ 'fast' one. There is major constuction work front, so have fun waking up to it.

Despite construction around the hotel, very convenient location. Superb room in a gorgeous building. Only two gripes: 1) 'complimentary' minibar was not stocked for first day we were there 2) the shower set up did not allow the shower head angle to be set which was very inconvenient

8

Good location, close to the Brussels city center. Really beautiful lobby and bar downstairs, but most rooms, especially at cheaper rates are located in a second, kind of run down building behind the main building. Still, rooms have a lot of space, a good bathroom and the minibar is free (6 drinks). Only slow WiFi is free, faster speeds only for 15€/day extra.

Decent hotel in the center of Brussels. Grand lobby with beautiful interior. Friendly and accommodating staff. Clean rooms. Judging by hotel's rooms, it's seen it's finer days 30-40 yrs ago and could definitely use some renovation. Can't say enough about convenience of nearby transport. Tram and metro entrance is literally right outside the hotel entrance. There is construction going on right now (May 2017) in the plaza in front of the vote but doesn't take away from the experience. Overall very nice stay.

This is my hotel in Brussels. I look forward to completion of the massive renovation happening to the plaza out front, as it was an irritant clearly impacting business at this outstanding hotel.
This place is old but lovingly maintained. If you prefer the sleekest modern interior design, it may not be for you. If, however, you enjoy a bit of Art Deco glam with an exceptionally attentive staff steps away from the old town, this hotel can't be beat.

Very disappointing - this is definitely not a 5* like advertised!

It's actually a real shame. You can tell the hotel itself was probably best of its kind back in the day, but since has been neglected of some love and TLC!

The entrance area is very impressive with beautiful decor. But unfortunately, this level of attention is not given to the bedrooms.

The bedroom we were given was incredibly dated. The rooms were dark and the bedding looked less than inviting!

With a bit of investment and some uplifting, this hotel has much potential.

The other disappointment was being charged a €5 tray charge for having two empty wine glasses - even though we collected then ourselves from the bar.

Great ambience, amazing rooms remind you of a bygone era. Take a ride in the 100 yr old restored lift. have a drink in the bar - you feel like you are in the Great Gatsby. The pictures on the internet for the rooms are very misleading. This hotel is dated and furniture shows signs of decades of wear. The rooms are dark and cleanliness is an issue. The person who checked us in was friendly, but when i expressed my dissatisfaction with the room the manager was rude. I would not recommend this hotel.

I thought it would be a bit old and run down and prestigious 20 years ago type of hotel , but it turned out this place is really well maintained and they have a truly 5 star hotel kind of reception and concierge service. Many things impressed me here including the chandeliers in the room, over 3 meters ceiling height, lightswitches that matches the wallpaper perfectly..it's cool. I guess the shower is not perfect, the shampoos and soap is not cool and trendy. But all in all this place is a good place to stay.

Extremely fancy room that I got a great deal on it. It had a grand chandelier and nice decor. There was a steam press in the room for our clothes/hair dryer/ magnifying mirror and other amenities. The tub was interestingly narrow. I could shower no problem, but the basic of the tub was about the width of my feet placed next to each other.

Would we 4 stars if the wifi is passable. The free one is so bad that one wishes there was no wifi. At least you would not feel like participating in somebody's horrid business model. Please say no to tiered internet speeds, it's like raping your own clients for yet another fee.

Myself and my husband have just returned from a two night break in this wonderful hotel. The old style charm was amazing. Our room was a little outdated, however the location, friendliness off all the staff and the uniqueness of the bar overcame that. We could not speak more highly of the staff, many thanks for making our stay memorable. One very important thing to mention, even though the room was outdated the bed was very comfortable, and we had complimentary drinks daily in the drinks fridge.
