Spent a week in NY with family visiting from Dubai. The hotel is very clean and luxurious and the rooms were up to par and that was important for us. They sent 12 extra pillows to share between 4 of us and we appreciated that so that we can sleep properly. Only issue is the food at the main lobby restaurant was not good at all. For 2 rooms and ~5000$ you’d think they’d care about the food. Guess not. Also we were ONLY told about our 25$ per day free bar items after we checked out. Who the hell tells you that after you check out and goes on to tell you oh you should have read our site? For that you lose a star.

Stay here for 2 nights and 3 days. Was a great experience. Close to lots of tourist attractions, such as Rockefeller Building, NY Museum, Times Square and Central Park. It was all fairly walking distance to need to take cab or metro. The room is great and the staff is friendly. The have nice and spacious lobby.

The front desk acknowledged us as IHG Members and gave us a beautiful room and IHG reward points just for staying at the property. The room is elegant and up to date. There is a lobby bar and The Gin Parlour Restaurant. We had dinner at the Gin Parlour and the meal was excellent! We had the scallops which I highly recommend. Brunch at Gin Parlour is extremely expensive ($99.00 per person) so I would avoid. The area around the hotel is very quiet for NYC so any room is a gem.

The rooms were nice and housekeeping did a good job. We requested early check in and it took them 2 hours to finish cleaning the room so we didn't even end up getting in early. Bar is expensive, but it is NYC so you pay more for drinks. Noisy neighbors and not very accommodating for a sister's weekend trip celebrating my sisters birthday. Close to some good eats so that was nice and bellmen were all great and friendly.

Incredible hotel, complete with all the luxury you expect with the Intercontinental name. The Gin parlour is top notch, as is the service throughout the experience of staying here. Conveniently located, you will be able to reach many of the top destinations in the city with a short walk.... but you may not want to go out at all, as the rooms and furnishings (and the beds!)will likely swallow you up into a state of pure relaxation.

Stayed at Barclay during a weekend visit to Manhattan. Convenient location in midtown. I personally love to walk around in Manhattan so this hotel was in a nice central location. Room and accommodations were great. Got a high floor corner room upgrade as a IHG medallion member. While I didn't go to it, the hotel is well known for its Gin bar in the ground level. Rooms are pricey but not over the top. Will likely stay again when I go back to Manhattan.

An amazing hotel with a beautiful lobby in Midtown. The lobby bar is great and the breakfast buffet is worth a stop even if not staying a the hotel. Corner rooms are nice for the price.

Very nice hotel, I've stayed multiple times and never been disappointed. The location is also nice as while you're right in midtown & walking distance to most anything Broadway shows etc it is not tourist crazy like times square location... Tip: if for some reason you're driving a few blocks east of the hotel on 48th is a reasonably priced icon, I dropped my rental car to the location when coming into town and noticed the parking rates there were about $40 cheaper than hotel

I wouldn't stay here again. For a 5 star hotel, this hotel has a long way to go in terms of service and attitude. Staff have to be pushed for serviced, the client relationship manager is great and she acknowledge that my concerns were valid. No complimentary bottled water in the rooms. If you use the items in the bathroom, you don't get a full replenishment like most other hotels but then luckily we managed with what we had. One of the waiters in the breakfast area stood out for me, he was like the black sheep in the family. I tipped him because he deserved it unlike most of the others. They will have to pay me to stay here again! The atmosphere is COLD!

We stayed for two nights and were not disappointed. All staff was friendly, courteous, and responsive. We ordered in-room breakfast and, while pricey, it was very filling, tasty, and well presented. Additionally the building is very aesthetically pleasing and quiet. It's been awhile since I've stayed at a hotel and I found the use of RFID in the room card interesting - it was even required to use the elevator at certain times of day, so that was pretty cool.

In my travels, I like to stay at Intercontinental Hotels, this one was nice, small and clean but if you want the total customer service experience, this is not the place. Don't get me wrong people were nice but you can tell that's not what they wanted to be. They seemed tired and out of patience. Perhaps it was the weather (so cold). Room service was astronomically expensive, $200 bucks for 3 burgers and 3 ice creams, but that's my fault for ordering it. The Concierge seemed inconvenienced by my asking questions of activities in NYC. She was still nice but gave me the impression she was annoyed by it all. We compared it a lot to the Intercontinental Hotel in San Francisco where the customer service was superb. You felt very welcome there and it just added to the whole experience. So I think that if the hotel personnel would have been slightly nicer and welcoming, I would have given this hotel 4 stars. The location is great, very convenient, it is not one of those massive hotels so it feels inviting, it's tasteful, the hallways are quiet so you can sleep without disruption but it just missed that one element. The price was good for a NYC hotel so now that I know what to expect in the sense of people, I would probably consider staying there again but not expect anything from them and therefore not be disappointed, when it comes to customer service.

A very good hotel. After a recent extensive refurbishment the property looks great. The rooms are very well appointed with plenty of space. The bed is extremely comfortable. The room decor is relatively neutral but warm and simple in appearance. The bathroom is well equipped. And the shower is very good. We will definitely stay here again for the bedrooms. The lobby is open and busy maybe a bit too open. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel.

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around... My friends and I (4 adults) had reserved the premier room with 2 double beds for one overnight stay. The hotel's location made for easy commuting throughout the city via train with the N and 6 line and was an easy walk to Times Square. We had arrived at 3pm to check-in and met a 4 person line with two receptionists. After the wait and a 10 to 15 minutes overall check-in process, which we thought to be tedious for a large 4 star hotel, we received our room cards. The room was pleasant but we found the bathroom on the smaller side. We appreciated the cleanliness of everything but was surprised by the lack of towels and toiletries for 4 guests. We had to contact the front desk for a sufficient supply. The staff member we spoke with was courteous and accommodating. We waited for a little under an hour while we settled in for the items but left the room when they didn't arrive. However, they were placed neatly on of the beds when we returned 6 hours later. All in all, we had a satisfactory experience but none of us were blown away by it.

A beautiful hotel to spend our honeymoon in the heart of midtown. The staff were great and the room itself wad larger than expected and beautifully decorated. A short walk from grand central or times square make it a perfect base to explore the city.

The hotel is lovely. The rooms were clean and tidy and the service was generally very good. We had to wait a long time to check in but apart from that, I have very much enjoyed it. We even got to see some filming at the hotel (program called blind spot) so that was exciting! The beds and pillows are very comfortable. Furthermore, I never hear anything during the night so more than happy. Would be happy to return again.

Nice hotel, rooms were comfortable and well appointed. It's clear the hotel invested in the upgrades and it shows - I was pleasantly surprised. My only caveat is that I had asked for my receipt to be emailed to me, which it was not. Mild inconvenience, so I called to request it. However, the customer service person at the front desk was extremely rude and disrespectful, for a very small request. Not fitting of this stature of a hotel.

Nice place to stay, central, good transport links. Decent WiFi which you can get if you're a member of their loyalty club (free). Didn't try the bar or restaurant, really easy to get breakfast nearby anyways for much cheaper, and as for dinner, why would you bother, you're in New York after all. Would definitely recommend staying.

Beautiful hotel with world class customer service. Me and my wife celebrated our wedding anniversary and stayed at the Intercontinental Barclay. On our first night we had an issue with our Ac in our room. The maintenance man came up quickly but was unable to fix it. We went to speak to the manager at the front desk before we could even introduce ourselves he greeted us by name and apologized for the inconvenience. The manager upgraded us to a higher class room and offered to move our luggage. World class customer service is really hard to find nowadays but it's a reality at the Intercontinental Barclay NY!

This hotel was very elegant in a non-flashy way. I don't think I have seen a better Hotel staff anywhere. It's the kind of place where staff who meets you the day before remembers your name and greets you in the lobby. Even the housekeeping staff were a step above what you would see another properties. The rooms were elegant yet understated. Live jazz in the lobby every night was a nice touch. I've never had a better Hotel Concierge than Adrian. If you're staying here make sure to look him up.

The location was fantastic! We were able to walk to most attractions. Very close to Time Square. It is a beautiful, classic looking hotel and the staff was friendly. The downside was there is no pool and breakfast is $35 a person. It is an upscale hotel though, so that may be standard.

Stayed here for 6 nights. Location is not bad. However, they could use some work on cleanliness. Room was dusty. There was residue under the items on the washroom and in the cups. Ironing board had a weird smell to it. Rooms are also not very soundproof. You can hear voices from the next room. Also there is no water offered in the lobby which I thought was pretty standard among most hotels these days.

What can I say, it really is a top-class hotel. Right in the heart of midtown Manhattan, it couldn't be in a better location. The rooms are incredibly well decorated, elegant and classy yet still comfortable and cosy. They have all the amenities you could ask for. The gin lounge continues their classy style and the drinks are perfectly prepared. The concierge and overall service is also of a very high standard, going above and beyond, all while being incredibly friendly and happy to help. I really struggle to find anything to complain about. The Intercontinental Barclay is of a very high standard and I'm incredibly happy with my entire stay.

In terms of location and property quality, the hotel is certainly 5 stars. However, their status recognition is a bit iffy. I'm an Ambassador, and was placed in a tiny room next to the elevators on a low floor with no view. The room was supposedly an upgrade, but I find that a little hard to believe. Also, they did not proactively provide an Ambassador welcome amenity. I had to call up and ask where it was, and only then was I offered one. On the flip side, after complaining about my noisy neighbors, I was moved to a larger room on one of the highest floors. I would stay again, but I feel that the hotel should strive to pay more attention to detail.

If you have the budget, this is the place to stay at in NYC. Centrally located and such a great experience. The staff is super professional and they also have an amazing gin bar. The hotel, with its new look, is very elegant and the location is great. Our room was a bit cramped but the bathroom was nicely upgraded and made up for it. The only real negative was the concierge. He gave us outdated information, saying exhibits were open that has already left the museum. When I asked him to make dinner reservations for my family, he wrote down the phone number and handed it to me on a sticky note. I guess he couldn't be bothered. But overall, the hotel was very nice, comfortable.

Beautiful and luxurious hotel that I visited with my best friend for a simple night on the town. Service and amenities were exceptional! Not to mention there is a 24 hour eatery, a couple drugstores, and shops within walking distance (it is in the middle of Manhattan). Our room was comfy and extremely clean! I even had a minor issue upon check out and the employees were eager to assist me! Will definitely stay here in the future!

This hotel is gorgeous. It's incredible as soon as you walk in. The staff were very efficient. They have a holding room for baggage that was really convenient, a beautiful bar, and very nice rooms. The bed was comfy and the shower was nice. We ended up with a corner room that had a really nice view. We did have some noisy neighbors in the middle of the night, but that was my only real complaint. Not something the hotel can really help. Overall great experience.

Made my honeymoon great! In those days at the UN there was an important meeting and many of the guests at the hotel were deputees coming from anywhere in the world. That caused some troubles: we had metal detector inspection each time we had to come back at the hotel, often showing our bags and as the hotel was really busy with authorities, after 2 days they had to change our room. Before that I complained a little for that, they gave us two days of free (and great) breakfast and a kindly offered basket of fruit in our room. The hotel is classy, very nice. Definitely one of the best place I ever slept.

I stayed at the Barclay this week twice. The rooms were fine, but I had a very nasty experience with the reception desk. A man named Chris was patronizing, rude and generally unhelpful. I checked in both times very late at night, so I don't expect much other than efficiency and perhaps pleasantness. From Chris I got neither. Worse, at check out, we had been charged for an iPad plug in the minibar. We hadn't taken it, just lifted it out of its receptacle in the minibar to see what it cost ($35). My wife told Chris that and he said "That's why we don't touch things." JERK. My wife is a 43 year old woman, I wouldn't talk to my 11 year old that way let alone with a grown woman. The location and renovations made me satisfied with my stay, but Chris is not who I would want as the face of my business.

My family had not been on vacation in quite a while, so picking a good hotel was extremely important. I have to say from checking in to check out, I was very pleased with the Barclay. We lived on the 7th floor facing the UBS building and didn't face the alleged problem of street noise. The rooms were very clean and cosy and the bathrooms were well stocked with all the amenities. To be honest we didnt spend much time in the rooms as we spent all day either shopping or visiting sites. The beds were comfortable and allowed for a good night's rest. The staff were also extremely friendly and assisted us promptly with any problems for e.g. fresh towels, extra bed or coffee refills. As for the WiFi, the $26 fee is pretty steep but this is New York City. There is LITERALLY a Starbucks located withing a 5 minute walk in any direction you wish to walk to. There is one located opposite the street (Lexington & 48th) and another off Madison & 47th (right besides a Mcdonalds which also has free WiFI). Me and my father were both technically still working despite being on vacation and didnt find WiFi to be an issue.

Very nice hotel staff, great amenities, great concierge service. Also very good location. Easy walk to times square and close subway access to anywhere in manhattan. Would definitely stay here again.

Awesome hotel, it is not dated I would consider it classy, and classy has no set date to expire as far as I know. The service is great, the restaurants inside are delicious, and room service is great. The rooms were cleaned daily and the bed was very comfortable. What else could you ask for?
