Went for a conference. Was there for 7 days. The pool area is large and has something for everybody. The staff is so friendly and very helpful. There are daily activities for every age group (mostly free). The spa is very relaxing and the staff were fantastic! Had a king room and it was large with plenty of space for my toddler to move around.

This was our first visit. We have a family of 6 w/ kids (9, 7, 4, 3). There is something for all the kids and was so much fun. The pool, rides, beach and activities was absolutely amazing. Rooms, food and staff are amazing. I highly recommend this resort

This Resort is exceptional. My wife and I did the ultimate Romance package and we're very happy with the service and experience. The water park is great for families with kids. There is an adult only infinity pool along the golf course. And the spa is a welcome Retreat for those participating at the spa. The only complaint would be the steakhouse 18 Oaks. Service was mediocre and the steaks were very salty.

Loved this weekend getaway. We live nearby, but felt like we had left town. The staff was amazing, the room was great, the property is beautiful!
We did the spa for a day since it was raining and had such a relaxing time. We used the gym at the spa and the main gym as well. The nain gym was crowded and not very clean. However, when we informed the staff, they were apologetic and let someone know right away.
We were not big fans of the food choices, but once again, the service was great. Great place for a stay-cay!

Huge facility and everything was great. Very clean and comfortable, not too hot or too cold. Food was great, attended a few professional events there. Rooms were immaculate and everything was clean and organized. Staff was very helpful. Have not been to the water park part of the resort, but everything hotel related was amazing. Only complaint is parking - self parking fills up quick and additional parking is hard to locate. Not quite worth a star, but come very early to any event you may be attending.

Pools, slides, lazy river is awesome. Kids activities throughout the day is cool too. Grounds were pretty and really you don’t have to leave; however, be prepared to spend at a minimum of $200+ per day on food. The prices are ridiculous ($13 for frozen drink in plastic cup/$4 for iced tea/ $85 for family of 4 to eat burgers by the pool?!?) next time since we have a refrigerator I will pack lunch stuff to save money. Also the beds aren’t comfortable and the room seems to not get as cool as what we set thermostat to at night. Other than that we’ve had a blast. 9yo and 6yo loved it, 4 days of fun was enough for us.

Really enjoyed our stay as a family. The water park was very relaxing. The room we stayed in was very nice and had a great view of the water park and golf course. I was disappointed with parking especially since we required handicap but there didn't seem to be very many. Still will give it a five stars for all the other amenities provided.

I really love this resort we've come back every year. The service is really good and they're great at not saying no. The food is very good and my family and I enjoy it. The water park is never too busy and the rides and pools are all very clean and very fun. They also have different events and fun for the whole family we really love it here and plan to keep coming back.

We stayed here for our honeymoon, and it was absolutely fantastic! The food, the activities, the spa and the staff. The campus was clean and beautiful and wonderful to walk around and enjoy. The rooms were spacious and clean and very comfortable. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!

We had a great time. The staff is great, the water park was a blast for us and the kids. The rooms were clean and well cared for. We've stayed here in the summer for the last couple years now, it did seem like the food this time did not quite live up to previous expectations. It was still a great experience overall.

Our family has stayed here several times and this summer was by far the best experience we've ever had. They have assembled a great team in San Antonio. Staff went out of their way to provide awesome customer service and made our whole family feel welcomed and special. We could not have asked for a better stay. I would rate them 7 stars if allowed! Will definitely keep us coming back.

I was there for a conference and did not stay overnight. The landscaping of the entire area was absolutely gorgeous. They have a whole lazy river behind the hotel too! The staff is courteous and friendly. The food was alright (catered fajitas, essentially). The rooms were good for the conference but I wish there were more outlets that were easy access-- in a room with 5 rows and one aisle, there were probably only 4 outlet hubs. During the breaks they had "catered snacks" I guess? And some one said they got a candy bar that expired in 2016. Not sure if they read that wrong or if they are the only ones that got an expired candy. Not sure if they are related but I went to 18 oaks for dinner and it was phenomenal (granted I've never had Wagyu beef before that night but it was so delicious!!)

A truly beautiful hotel, both inside and out. The amenities are well kept and clean. The levels of detail in the layout and decoration is first rate. The staff was equally as great. Downside? Well all that obviously comes with a larger price tag. But worth it for an every now and then experience. Kids want to go back already

I'll be honest, for the price... I expected a free continental breakfast. But found out that absolutely nothing is free. Nonetheless, I'll rate it a 5 as all employees are friendly & helpful, the place is absolutely great. My son loved the Lazy River & other pools. Lots to do for family fun.

Room was clean, with comfortable bed. Unfortunately, sound proofing was supeisingly poor as I could squeaking from people walking in the room above. Food at the sport-themed restaurant was salty but otherwise cooked properly with good portions. Pool is the highlight of this resort. I'm told the golf course is excellent but I do not play golf.

I enjoyed it. Neat atmosphere. Waitstaff friendly, however I feel they could have been more attentive. Food was good. I think it may have been an anomaly that my grits came out cold. Portions were more than expected.... 5*for the tequila selection and explanations given. Overall good experience.

Great relaxing retreat. Water park was lovely with lazy river. Great variety of on property restaurants. Nice walkable trails. The indoor and outdoor fireplaces were perfect for warming up in March when the morning/evening air can be brisk. Note to Marriott rewards members - there is no concierge lounge at this property.

I love love love this hotel!! It's views are truly amazing. They have so much to do here it's incredible. Come with family or friends and you will have a blast. It is pretty expensive, but it's kind of expected at such a high class resort like this. I'm definitely going to come back here soon!

I can't say enough good things about this place. From the second you drive up the hill and get a glimpse of this magnificent building, you know you are in a special place. There is absolutely nothing that went wrong during the stay. You are greeted at the door by someone can answer questions for you. The person that checked us in joked around with my kids and they really liked that. The pool facilities are indescribably fantastic. Don't miss them! The rooms are a step up from their normal properties. The garden out back was so peaceful. You can be as busy or take it as easy as you want while staying here. We'll definitely be back.

Had a wonderful stay. Accommodations were great, amenities were amazing. Pricing in spa and restaurants was a bit high as expected, but great quality. Room service food quality was so so, definitely bring snacks for night time. Huge place, and some hills bring flats and sandals. Water park is great, great staff and clean lovely rooms. Will return, happy customer.

Awesome place! Or kids loved the pool and water park area! The place is top notch and very clean. It's a huge place, so bring good walking shoes. There are uber's always close by to run you into town if you need anything. I'd encourage you to go around November so it's not too hot in like July or August. We'd like to go back again in December maybe. The conference center is very large and has a great staff to put on events and the food is great. We'll hopefully be coming back in the near future.

This. Place. Is. Awesome. Love the room. Love the view. Love the staff. But, I would marry the Sunday brunch overlooking the private nature preserve the manage. The Golden Cheeked Warbler would agree with me and may even join me for the awesome bagels. I don't get much quiet time in my job but the waitress saw that was what I wanted. She also knew more than average employees teach their staff. Stay here, maybe play golf, but get Sunday brunch.

This is one my favorite places in the entire world. This place is just gorgeous and offers a ton of things to do, either with the whole family, or even if it's just a getaway with your significant other. The JW Marriott Hill Country is the largest, and most romantic resort in San Antonio. I wish I could live there! The breakfast and dinner buffets contain some of the highest quality food I've ever had. It's all very high end food that's professionally prepared and looks beautiful. I can't recommend this place enough. I can't wait to go back and take photos to add to this review.

Had the opportunity to visit last week for a sales meeting. Check in was a breeze as they had additional staff on duty to accommodate our large team. Staff and house keeping were very polite and helpful. The only average service I had was at the Starbucks and the gift shop on property. I'm sure that had to do with a thousand people all trying to get their caffeine fix before the meetings started.

The absolute best part was the Cibolo Moon cafe. The servers were top notch and their recommendations were spot on. Food tasted freshly prepared and had plenty of flare (spices). Portions were much larger than I'm accustomed to but that's not a bad thing, just had to adjust to needing a doggy bag.

Prices are high, especially if you are unaccustomed to resort style hotels, but they are on par with most resorts. Not that it makes it any easier to shell out $4 for a bottle of coke, but if you've visited Disney, it feels almost like a bargain.

Gorgeous hotel. Went for a conference. The food was wonderful for the event and the facilities are beautiful. Parking is pretty bad. Since there are so many rooms and conferences happening simultaneously, the parking lot is always very full up a very steep hill. The rooms themselves were well kept, new, and beautiful. No complaints!

Professional staff and they are willing to work with you. I left an expensive tablet at the hotel when traveling back to Virginia. The employees working in lost & found; found my tablet and rushed it back to me in less than two days. I will make sure to inform everyone about the professionalism of the establishment. I would not hesitate to make reservations at this hotel! Thank you for a great stay!!

Location is perfect. Close commute to shopping, dining, and tourist attractions. The views are spectacular from every area. Just gorgeous! We attended a conference there and the meeting rooms were good, again all with great views. Service was great and food was excellent. I will definitely go back for a stay-cation, to check out the resort pool and water park.

From the first step onto this property, the experience is five-star. Parking is easy, or if you prefer you can drive right up to the door and use their services. Check-in/-out is quick and the on-site amenities are top notch. A golf course, water park, restaurants, and conference rooms are at your disposal. The bedding is some of the most comfortable I've experienced and every staff member I interacted with were exceptional. I cannot rate my stay highly enough and it goes without saying I definitely recommend this location if you're in the area.

I enjoy the atmosphere here. Great accommodations and a beautiful campus. Their party rooms are enormous! I haven't played their golf course yet, but I hope to one day get the chance to play it at least once. They have little veggie gardens out by the original JW house and it brings a nice touch with the farming roots of the property. The heated lazy river is also a very comfortable add to staying here in the off season when it gets a little chilly in San Antonio. Overall, I would say I give them an A+ and would definitely stay there in the future.

We stayed over at the JW Marriott after running a half marathon. The run was an absolute blast, and while we ran it my mother-in-law took our daughters to enjoy some fun Christmas events the hotel was hosting. These included ginger bread house decorating and elf school. The kids had a blast. The room was nice, but the extras at the hotel were what made our short trip fun.

The best brunch in San Antonio 5+ stars. 18 Oaks Restaurant service, presentation, ambiance and best of all the food was excellent. I even approached the assistant manager for kudos. Food was maintained at warm temperature, crab legs where fresh and shrimp was firm and not overcook. Vegetables where fresh and nicely season. Mac and cheese top crumble crunch and cream was perfect. The chicken waffles excellent. Dessert, perfect. Mimosas mixed the perfect balance of champagne/ juice. Hope to come back soon. Great job.

The rooms were great, clean and filled with necessities. However, the resort is secluded, the closest outside restaurant is 3 miles away. Also, the hotel is designed for families with children. It was very noisy throughout the whole weekend. Children were everywhere including near the bars. This is not the place for peace, quiet and relaxation.

Didn't stay here, but brother lives here and puts our nieces up here when they visit. We came and walked the grounds and had dessert in one of the restaurants. Stayed here over the course of a business conference. Rooms are roomy and nice but after a short stroll to check out the amenities, you won't want to stay in your room. Property is beautiful with lots of places to settle in and relax. Good coffee and good food are all around. The conference space was also excellent. Only downside was the price...a little high if the company wasn't paying.

A lot of thought went in to design this resort it seems like to accommodate everyone. It's expensive 5 start resort, so the expectation is there is about that level. Children love water, men love golf, and women loved to chat and message and put stuff on their faces so this place has the complete package.

It's a lovely place. It is the biggest I've ever stayed in -- a water park, several restaurants, a separate building for a spa, and a golf course. The staff is accommodating and courteous although I wouldn't say especially friendly or warm. Overall it's been a pleasant stay, but for all the "luxuries" I would have preferred the basic amenities. We did not have a microwave and there is no daily cleaning service. They will come every 4 days or you can decline that service and earn points on your rewards account. I found it tedious to request towels, toilet paper, tissues, and water bottles regularly.

Stayed on the 7th floor overlooking the golf course. Great view. Food at the sports bar was great. Was sad that the lazy River was brisk unlike the pool which was heated. Sand near the slide entering lazy River wasn't pleasant. Staff very friendly and always smiling. Would stay again.

This is one of our favorite resorts in the world to visit. The property is fantastic, but that is just the half of it. The staff is what makes the difference here. The effort extends from top to bottom and across all areas of the resort. Everyone pulls together on any request. Example, we were on our first family vacation. Our 2 year old threw up all over the car seat. We cleaned as best we could to finish the drive. Before traveling I called the "at your service" to ask if the had some cleaning supplies for me to do a job I was not really looking forward to. They went above and beyond. Laura from housekeeping met me at the valet and helped me clean it down properly. Incredible service as I can tell you that is not a job anyone looks forward to. The water park for the kids is awesome. They have an adult pool too. Food was exceptional. They look after every detail like a complimentary laundry room that came in real handy. In other words they do not nickle and dime you once you get there, like some places do (Barton Creek Resort is the worst at this!). If you are looking to relax in the Hill Country you are nuts if you don't book here. Our family will be back again and again. Also, big thanks to Shari who took great care of us while checking in.

So if you have been to the formerly known as ESPN zone this has one restaurant like that. Wait service is fun and friendly and helpful. On the other side you have Tex Mex and it’s not too shabby. The grounds are amazingly well kept, lush, green and if you just want to go for a stroll it is a pleasure.

We loved this place!! For the price I would totally go in the summer so you can take advantage of the pool area! The pool area is awesome!! We only ate at the pool side restaurant and it was good. The drinks are good. The room was good. It had a mini fridge which is helpful when you want a cold water late at night!

Very nice resort. Extremely spacious property and well appointed rooms. The main issue I had was the lack of sound proofing in the rooms. I was awakened multiple times during my stay by people walking in the hallways. At night, you can literally see the light from the hallway under and to the sides of the door. Other than that issue, it is a very nice resort.

Pricey but beyond full service
This place is definitely not cheap as others have said. The staff here are phenomenal though. I'll give one example. I stayed at this resort for a conference. When the pool manager, DJ, found out that we would be too busy during the day to enjoy the lazy River and slides, he insisted on keeping them open later one night so that our group could enjoy them. There were several others instances where the staff truly went beyond expectations.

It's a nice hotel. Neat layout and a cool pool. But Seriously, a why charge $75.00 for a $10.00 bottle of wine?
This is no joke, I literally was charged $75.00 for room service to deliver me a $10.00 bottle. Ridiculously overpriced. There is nothing within walking distance from this place to be able to go get something a little more reasonable. In order to make it out here from the hotel it took a $20 / ride. I suppose this would be a nice place if you had unlimited funding.

If I hadn't received a discounted rate, I would have felt cheated. First impressions are wonderful, and the property is without a doubt beautiful. Just not worth the full rate, especially when you get hit with their resort fees and outrageous drink and meal prices. If you like bringing your kids to hang out with your drunk friends at the pool, you'll love it.

High points: Overall a amazing scenic and fun property. Great check in customer service. Great pool area, gym, dining options and breakfast buffet.

Low Points: No executive lounge for business travelers and probably the most uncomfortable beds EVER!! Even the kids complained about not sleeping well. It's like they put the money into the pool area and skimped on quality beds and bedding. The A/C never cooled the room properly. Will pass on this property next time. Marriott Platinum Member

My family loved our stay. It was a shame they misplaced our entire room breakfast order and subsequently screwed up my entire morning, but 1st world problems, right.. What really ticked me off is they basically implied it was our fault for not placing the order card on the door handle. We ordered room service the previous night and placed the order card on the service cart. It was CLEARLY separate from everything and, for that matter, physically about 10" from my door knob. Still somehow the card went MIA.. They provided a small credit for our next stay. So maybe next time will be a bit better. My kids say we're going back, so... There you have it. It's worth the visit and stay. Oh, and it is worth noting the sunrise was beautiful on the pool side!

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around...

The service was excellent and the rooms were very nice. Really liked the pool and lazy river at the water park. Dining rooms were nice. The food tasty and I loved the fact that there was a buffet section geared just for kids. It will be great for when we bring the grandchildren later this summer. The front desk staff were courteous, and the bell hops were good and quick to respond to a call for help with our luggage.

Stayed at the hotel for three days for a professional conference. The staff was beyond excellent, always helpful and enthusiastic. The grounds are stunning and the rooms were beautiful. The entire conference was smooth and simple. Thank you!

Terrible customer service in the club house. Manager was unprofessional, one of our players paid for two and the clubhouse came out to hole number 6 or 7 to see the receipt. Trash cans over flowing, no water on the course, cart girl had last call at 430pm. Extremely disappointed with the golf course customer service. Our GPS on our cart was hit and miss and cart barely had enough juice. There are better courses for the price and the service will be way better. SO disappointed!!

This is a beautiful Texas Hill Country property. Lovely views no matter what side of the resort your room is on. The water feature, pools, slide and lazy river are extensive and well designed. Did not play the golf course so I can't rate it although what I can see from the hotel, it looks like a fun round.

Went to a friend's room for a few hours. Landscaping was neat and classy. The hotel itself is impressive and boasts beautiful views of the hill side. Room was nice and cleans and included a massive TV.

This hotel is amazing. They really make it easy to vacation or just spend a few days on business meetings. The process from arrival at valet to check in was expedient. It took all of 10 minutes from arrival to the point I was in my room relaxing.

Thoroughly enjoyed my time here, really is the best San Antonio has to offer in terms of golf course and hill country resort, beautiful views, exceptional staff, 3 restaurants, 3 bars, and a really fun water park. I'd recommend this resort for golf tournaments, conventions, and family getaways. The only downside is the traffic around the area, 281 and 1604 really is a mess especially during peak hours but once you get to the resort expect a 5 star experience.

I think I've been here about 5 times now. The wow factor has wore off in some sense, but it's still a very nice venue. I also admit I haven't ventured out to every corner of the resort, so I'm sure there's plenty to do that I haven't seen. Staff is great, service is top notch

I only went to the hotel for a social event but it was still an excellent experience. It had a great view of the hill country. The design was luxurious. The hotel staff was happy to help whenever they could. I would recommend this hotel.

The JW Marriott is located in the northwest side of San Antonio and has a water park as part of it's attraction. This hotel is extremely family friendly and every person working there that I had the pleasure of speaking with, showed the utmost respect and customer service one could as for. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable and the cleaning staff was more than happy to assist with extra items we needed. There are so many side activities that the family can participate throughout the day and night. There really is no need tobtravel outside of the hotel to seek other entertainment.

The rooms are very nice. They are on the larger side and very clean. They have large bathrooms with separate bath tubs and shower stalls. They also have the largest TV's I've ever seen in a hotel room. The staff was always courteous and helpful to me. The bars are nice, a good place to grab a drink or kill some time. The grounds are exceptional. I just wish I had more time to spend exploring them.

I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the River Walk. The staff went out of their way to make sure that we were being well taken care of - they were friendly and professional. The breakfast buffet and 5:30 Kickback provided 2 of our 3 meals each day. We appreciated free coffee and soft drinks 24/7, not to mention free popcorn in the afternoon! The hotel was beautiful and so handy to be right on the River Walk. So impressed that management steeped helped out no matter what needed done - from clearing off tables, to carrying a ladder. Have already recommended to several friends. Hope we can return sometime!

The resort is very nice and the food is great.
Make sure you review your bill on the departure day. I was billed $45.00 for a restaurant I never set foot in, I don't even know where it's located at the resort. Valet parking is $35.00 for over night, pretty steep if you ask me. .

We had a fantastic stay here for New Year's. We were impressed with the variety of options and parties available, even for the kids. We had great meals at several of their restaurants and would definitely go back again. Beautiful spot to stay for a long weekend getaway.

“Well worth it.”
This is the second time we've stayed here for New Year's Eve and it's been great. They have lots of activities for the kids and wonderful food. The whole place is like a big party. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Tough to beat if traveling with kids. Nice facilities, well maintained pools and slides for days.

It's a big resort so doesn't quite have the feel of a Four Seasons or Ritz but if you are traveling with kids or just looking for a fun weekend getaway this place is definitely worth a look. We had a blast.

We had a 2 night stay at this resort. We got upgraded to a bigger room with bigger balcony. The room was very comfy. Wish it had a microwave though.
Since we visited during winter time, there wasn't much activity to do. But there were a few that kept us busy: decorating holiday cookies, stuff your own bears, breakfast with santa. Staff are friendly and professional.

I can't say enough good things about this place. As a family we've been several times and my 5 kids love the pools slides and lazy river. On site restaurants and buffets are great too!
Recently my wife and I went to celebrate our anniversary and we had a wonderful time walking the grounds and sitting by the large fireplaces.
I forgot my shoes in my room and the Loss Prevention team was extremely helpful in getting them back to me.
We will definitely be back soon!

I just did a quick walk through in anticipation of attending an event there in a couple of days. The property is gorgeous and serenely quiet. The pool, water slides and lazy river looked very inviting. The staff was courteous and friendly. I look forward to returning to attend the event this Sunday. Would highly recommend this resort.

Very nice, but watch out for pricing. Since you're isolated in Hill Country, everything is more expensive than expected. Example: soda is $3 for what would be $1.39 anyplace else. Golf course looks great. There's a$1/day resort fee to cover use of water park (cool), internet access and some other items. On-site restaurants are good, sports bar nice.

The JW Marriott in San Antonio was a very pleasant experience. There was a breakfast buffet every day, and after that, I would head to the pool for a relaxing trip in the lazy river. The people that worked there were very nice about everything and were helpful. For example one day when my family and I decided to go to 18 oaks steakhouse for dinner, and a Dolan was very helpful in telling us how to get to the restaurant. All in all, the JW Marriott was a very fun place to stay and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

My family of 4 loved our weekend stay here. Staff is very friendly and helpful. There are a lot of swimming pools, a few rides, and a lazy river. The hotel is huge and there are lots of lounging areas including outside fireplaces. There are two restaurants. One is ok but the other is overpriced.

Rooms are lovely and it's nice to have a balcony. The beds are comfy and for the most part it's pretty quiet. The hotel has an insane pool that looks super fun. There are a lot of amenities and a good selection of food and drinks. Cibolo restaurant has a decent beer selection and really good brisket.

We couldn't be happier about our stay here. The place is literally Heaven on Earth! Every inch of the grounds is perfectly kept and beautiful. There was a mix up with our room when we arrived as I paid extra for a walk out balcony and view - when I got to my room it was certainly the worst view in the place. When I spoke to someone on the phone she only offered to waive a resort fee, but my Husband spoke to a manager and he relocated us to the most phenomenal room. The hotel was fully committed, but they fixed the problem and made it right. The decor is stunning. The food is amazing! The staff is top notch. Its our new favorite resort by far. The water slides are a blast, every night they have something going on for kids. Live music. Its the best - best - best!! #bestresort #tonyak #kiliddjianfamily

Although the facilities are outstanding and waterpark was awesome, I was surprised at the level of concern for potential injuries by the staff and management. After riding the water slide, I got pinned up on a railing with a iron bolt sticking out and it punctured my elbow and left me bleeding profusely. Several patrons noticed my issue and called First Aid, and although they eventually patched me up, nothing was done to correct the problem. I waited at least an hour and called the life guard out and had to point out the iron bolt problem, and eventually they fixed it. No one contacted me regarding my injuries or followed up with me....And I find this disturbing. Management and loss control should have been contacted immediately, regarding the problem. And management should have at least paid for the medical bill as I had to go to emergency clinic the next day, for followup treatment and a tetnus shot...
