Fantastic hotel with a plush understated elegance. Customer service was first class. We had to leave pre-breakfast time on last day and hotel prepared two great breakfast boxes for us. Nice touch was origami in rooms and Corridor tables

Spacious rooms with spectacular views. Delicious breakfasts spanning western, Japanese, and Chinese cuisines. Convenient to thousands of restaurants, shopping arcades, the river and canal. Subway stop in the basement.

Fantastic hotel right in front of the city hall and walking distance from the imperial Castle. The rooms are big and bathrooms spacey. The staff is super friendly and nice. The restaurant on the 17th floor has amazing view and breakfast has a lot to offer. The hotel has smoking booths and rooms, if needed. Overall, very happy with my stay here.

Spent three nights here. Wonderful location. Staff and service is exceptional. We had a huge corner room with large windows on both sides with a lovely view of the mountains. They have a shuttle back and forth to the train station. You can walk underground directly to the local metro stop. Amazing breakfast buffet. Chinese restaurant was a disappointment.

High standard of service and room. Love the Japanese teppanyaki and the buffets at the top floor (don't miss the Snapper Sashimi). There are local Japanese shopping nearby. If you enjoy walking, you should try to walk around or dine at the cafes along the the Kamo River.

The hotel isn't bad. But it's fare 3*. Rooms are tired and smelly. The only one normal restaurant- steak house is fully booked. The rooms are very basic and with worn out furniture

Beautiful and luxurious hotel. Very friendly staff and the place had a lot to offer. The train/tube station is just underneath the hotel.

Although hotel is a little dated, rooms were fairly nice, especially for the price, and service was excellent. Most of the staff spoke excellent English and they were all helpful. Location is good. I would definitely stay there again.

A nice old hotel with spacious rooms and in a decent central location connected to a subway and small underground mall. The service is top class and the Japanese breakfast is not to be missed. The only downside is that the rooms are in need of a little renovation.

The hotel is located in the center of the city, close to shops, attractions and restaurants. Nice and helpful staff. The room had kettle, small tv and a safe box.
Unfortunately no socket close to the bed which in these days is important to charge cell phones and tabs while on bed prior sleeping. The room rate included a.breakfast and a free internet which was slow sometimes.
The overall rating is 3.8 for reasons I mentioned but I rounded it up to four.

Average hotel in a good location. Easy access to subway. Shuttle to/from Kyoto Station was convenient. Room itself was unremarkable, and charging for coffee in room was a surprise.

The location is ideal, close to the main street, restaurants and attractions. The hotel itself is a bit old, but well-maintained, the staff is remarkably helpful, from the front desk to the staff helping you getting a cab. We feel really welcomed here. The only downside is the room, we asked for a non-smoking room, yet the room had a faint smell of cigarette. Other than that, everything else was okay, the room was quite big, considering it's Japan where room is rather small

Nice hotel connected to a train station with easy walking access to main downtown attractions, like Nishiki Market. Some surface could be improved with updates, but the overall feel is nice. The higher end rooms are very spacious with dramatic views of Kyoto, the river, and mountains. Breakfast location is a beautiful way to start the day. Great service.

Hotel is a bit dated. Mattress quite hard (some people like that). Japanese restaurant in hotel was convenient but expensive and food mediocre. Maybe one should not eat sashimi in Kyoto?

For a older hotel it is well kept - service us old school Japanese style so you know it's good. Room doesn't have instant coffee or coffee machine just drip coffee which costs you 270 yen a cup. Gym/ pool are good with all items provided but cost to go is 3250 yen.
17floor western and Japanese buffet has a great selection and unique breads, yogurts etc

This was our first experience with a hotel in Japan and it surpassed our expectations. The room was spacious and clean. The housekeeping and staff were quite helpful. The location is near the city center which helped immensely.

Not recommended for non-smoker. We booked non-smoking rooms. But for some reasons they put us all in smoking rooms.

Still a nice hotel in a good central location but it is starting to show it's age. The service is polite as usual. I wish they would get rid of the throw pillows on the bed and provide extra towels for the bathroom.

Very spacious rooms for Japan standard and good location. Comfy lobby leather chairs. Impeccably gracious service levels. Drawbacks: dearth of power points for millennials armed with tablets, smartphones, laptops, power banks etc. Especially no bedside power points make for inconvenient charging of phones. No Q-tips! No coffee mugs nor in-room coffee provided (only tea). Book early for good deals

First class all the way. Impeccable service, gorgeous and spacious room even for American standards, huge bathroom with every amenity, stunning huge lobby and oh what a breakfast (the Japanese - skip the buffet upstairs except to just visit for the view). Concierge were amazing, they got me all the dinner reservations in Kyoto and Kobe that I requested and they reply to emails in minutes. They shuttle you to and from Kyoto station and will even store your bags for you at the station in their welcome lounge. The only negative is that they are booked long in advance (for obvious reasons) so book early.

Lovely staff. Very convenient welcome lounge and shuttle service available at Kyoto station. We stayed in a river front view room. Very spacious, especially by Japanese standards. Unfortunately there was a little mix up during booking and we were given a smoking room. But otherwise a very lovely stay.

Staying here was easy and comfortable. They offered more help than we could have asked for.
Just excellent!! It was an exclusive moment to stay here. The staffs are very kind and know a lot about Kyoto. I got many info to enjoy around! In addition, the room is very tidy and cleaned up perfectly.
