We just stopped in for a quick drink but the atmosphere was great! It looked like they had a band playing every night, which is nice, and livens up any establishment! Drinks were made well and service was efficient. Would definitely go back!

We stayed in 2 hotels in town to try out different locations. This being the most expensive, we were very excited to give it a shot. Our experience was mixed. The front desk wasn't the friendliest and for having a "staff operated elevator", there should be staff to operate it. We had to take the stairs each time. The room was beautiful and clean. Very nice set up but the bed was bowed in the middle and the noise was awful. We knew ahead of time about the train tracks and were okay with it but the noise from the hallway was ridiculous, and that was people just doing the basic moving around and opening/closing of doors. The bar and food were great. Great service on that side of the house. Overall, was MUCH more impressed with a cheaper option down the road.

Cozy, historic, friendly, a must see. Amazing bar, restaurant, cafe all on the first floor. If you’re not resting your legs in bed with a food coma in your room upstairs the Murray you’re doing it wrong. Stop reading this and get yourself over here.

When the elite arrived in Livingston off the train in 1905, they stayed at the Murray hotel. That is still true but via different conveyances. The building is magnificent. Customer service needs a bit of improvement. There is essentially no elevator, and I found the help and communications a bit stuffy and rigid. I think they need to 'fun the place up' some. I'm posting plenty of pics. Oh, yeah, as of this writing in May 2018 downtown Livingston is completely torn up with a major street re-build. So if you are interested in sampling the character of the community, I would check and see if the street project's complete.

This is not a 4 star hotel....it is a 5 star hotel. Its clean and comfortable. Its a historic place with modern amenities, a variety of toiletries, coffee, teas, fluffy pillows and towels. Each room is different with their own unique personality. The staff is friendly and accommodating. There is a staff operated elevator and they are always happy to take you up and down as you please. Best hotel in Livingston.

When the higher class arrived in Livingston off the train in 1890, they stayed in the Murray hotel. That is still true but with different conveyances. The building is magnificent. Awesome old school hotel! Authentic feel with modern upgrades. It's right downtown so you can walk to nearly everything, and you can get to a few restaurants without even leaving the building. Next time I'm in Livingston, I will definitely stay at the Murray again.

Clean, we'll appointed, retro. Centrally located one block from Main street. Of the many local places to stay in the area, this is the one we recommend to friends and family.

Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The hotel itself had a lot of Western character and charm. Loved that the bar and restaurant were right downstairs, but not in the hotel. Just an easy walk through without going outside. Both had so much local flavor and lots of locals frequenting them, not just hotel guests.

Went to the bar for afternoon drinks and food. Service was friendly and was a great atmosphere. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the beer selection and friendly. Food was good, with large servings and served promptly. It's a great place with a great Montana style to it!

This is a really neat, old and historic hotel... Not recommended for those who cannot navigate stairs, since the elevator requires an operator and it seemed staff was not readily available for this task. If that's not a problem for you, I'd recommend this place just for the novelty and beauty, if nothing else. I've stayed in few places as interesting as this one. We used the rooftop deck for stargazing, which was great. Location is excellent - walking distance to many restaurants, coffee shops, etc. The town itself is a short drive to Yellowstone. My only other complaint is that they have no parking lot, and parking seems to be at a premium in the area around the hotel. That said, we were able to find close free on-street parking.

Our Favorite Heritage Hotel!! Love the rooms and western deco. The location is ideal because you can walk to stores, bars, restaurants, and the lovely park on the Yellowstone River in minutes. We have stayed twice, both times with our family dogs, and will be returning this Fall for a longer stay. The staff is friendly and always willing to help or answer questions about the area. Thanks, Malcolm and Marissa, for making all of us feel welcome and at home!

Fantastic place!!! Walking into the lobby feels like walking into another time with period correct decor. Plenty of comfortable spaces to relax in the lobby and 2nd floor loft. The attached restaraunt, bar, and cafe make morning, noon, and night convenient when one is hungry for good food or drink. My family recently stayed for a long weekend so I got to peek into a few rooms. Each room is unique with its layout and features. They feel like a time capsule but with modern comfort and conveniences. The rooms are like a home away from home; with a mini-kitchen, cozy sofas, loungers, and incredibly comfortable beds. This was our first trip to Montana and Livingston was our first stop. Bacause of the hotel alone my wife and I cannot wait to return!

I love the Murray. I haven't stayed at the hotel but the bar is great. Gils has good food next door. They often have music and a small but fun dance floor. If you are in Livingston and don't stop at the Murray for some drinks and a dance you are missing out on a good time.

I spent time at this hotel during a trip to Yellowstone in May 2017. I arrived fairly tired, and didn't notice I parked slightly into the yellow line (which is a no parking zone). I asked the hotel attendant the next morning why my rental car was ticketed, especially since the sign says 2 hour parking, from 9AM to 5PM. I checked the car at 8:00AM, and was about to move it like the rules say. My hotel attendant was courteous enough to call the police for me since I was on a vacation, and the police came and cancelled my ticket thanks to the hotel's generosity. Although this hotel is relatively small and has less rooms, would highly recommend the service here. Thank you Murray Hotel!

Soooo... I'm in my room right now. Don't let the front desk lady tell you that the room above the bar will be quiet.. it's not. At all in fact. I'm sure the other rooms are nice but she made it sound like it wasn't that bad.. it's terrible. Hope they shut down at 2am. No sleep for me😳

Would love to have the Murray back like it was in the glory days. When it was dirty and dark, drinks were strong and the music rocked. Now it's contracted the snob virus and the focus has shifted to over rated food, Ikea barstools and a decimal meter over the stage to make sure the band isn't having too much fun. It can still be saved but it's going to take a lot.

The Murray bar and hotel are a quintessential Livingston institution. Good beer selection, good pizza, and decent musical entertainment if you're into the loud with a crowd weekend scene. It's not necessarily my favorite plans to grab a drink, but I do find myself gathering with friend there quite often and my experience has always been good.

Atmosphere and service was great! The last call burger was good but enjoyed it more when it didn't have the sauce. The egg was also more overdone than I would have liked.

If you want a quintessential Livingston experience stay at the Murray in all it's authenticity and enjoy the comfort of home away from home. From the original elevator -staff operated, claw foot tubs, comfortable beds and bedding, period decor, grand downtown views and amenities you are sure to make a fond memory.

Very friendly folks. Wonderful furnishings, marble stairs and historical feel all about. We had one of the suites which easily slept six and had a balcony. We loved the old creaky floors and beautiful ceiling paint work. Nice full bar pizza pub attached for easy bites and brews.

My boyfriend and I traveled here to stay before halloween. When we entered it was decorated so spooky! (They mean business!) I got to say it is beautiful with its rustic features! Such elegant rooms that are comfortable and spacey! It feel likes a rustic cabin in the city. Do not take the stairs, take the elevator! The lovely lady at the desk is so kind! I highly recommend coming on by and staying!:)

Probably the coolest place to stay in Livingston, MT. but the band started around nine o'clock p.m. and you could hear and feel them playing three stories up. Also when staying in old buildings you have to wonder if they have been updated. Luke Warm Shower and low pressure, probably needs a mechanical renovation.

Very nice people! Even took me and my husband in there old elevator! Rooms are very tidy and comforting. I also recommend the Gils restaurant that's connected to the bar! Try the G.f.b burger! Very tasty! Only complaint is parking. But will be back again!

Very elegant, old-west style hotel - absolutely gorgeous! The ONLY complaint I'd have is about the parking, or the lack thereof - there's NO parking lot for hotel guests, or really any options for parking, other than fending for yourself with the limited street parking. There are residential areas close to the hotel and you can park there, but we received a note from a nice older lady asking us to please NOT park in front of her house, so I assume they're not too happy with that either. Something really needs to be done about the parking situation. We were on the top (4th) floor and had a very nice corner room, absolutely beautiful, but on Friday night there was a band playing at the Murray Bar next door and you could hear the music all the way up there. Other than that, very very nice hotel :)
