What a lovely day we have just had. The staff are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and now feel like a pampered princess

Very nice hotel and spa in good location for exploring the Lake District.
Good bar and restaurant area, pool and gym available during stay but times are restricted for use by children

Had a spa day with a friend. Lunch was included. There was a mix up regarding payment as we had used a third party booking company, it did get sorted in the end but it delayed our day and was a stress we could have done without. That said, the rest of the day went well and the facilities are clean and modern. Perhaps a few of the clothing lockers in the changing room could do with repairing!

The Team at North Lakes Hotel hosted a corporate event for us last Thursday. As usual we were looked after exceptionally well. The hot buffet in particular was outstanding and went down very well with our delegates! If you are looking for a venue to host a business meeting or event North Lakes is the place to go. Brilliant! Thank you.

Had to visit for a business presentation and decide to come up two days earlier to have a little break away.
Well pleased that we did.
Such a lovely relaxed place.
Friendly and efficient staff, great food (dinner and breakfast) and a very nice pool.
The decor is stunning.
A big thank you to Jen (breakfast and lunch waitress) for helping me with my "magic" tricks.
We will definitely be back.
Thank you all.

Do not pay market rate (£150 odd) if they are going to put you in one of the older / unrefurbed rooms. It simply is a rip-off.

They are fully trying their luck this place by charging guests the same price and putting some in the knackered rooms. When you can’t turn the (separate hot and cold) taps on/off without the whole tap twisting, you know you’re not in the “Best large hotel in Cumbria” as it claims to be.

The breakfast is good. The spa is fine (although let’s not be fooled as to where this falls on the spectrum of hotel spas), the bar is functional, the rooms, or at least the one I stayed in, was bad three-star at best. If you can pay £100, fine. If not, you’re being ripped off.

Request a recently refurbished room. Not that the older rooms aren't fine (they are) but the newer and slightly quirkier style of the refurbished rooms are better in my opinion. The breakfast is really good. Dinner is also nice but a little pricey. Staff are hit and miss - a few are really friendly and helpful and a few obviously want to be somewhere else if they had the choice. Pool and spa area is ok but if you fancy a swim ask the staff when the water aerobics is on so you can avoid as there's little space to swim and the atmosphere goes from serene to noisy as soon as the music changes and the volume is turned up!!

Very nice hotel, offering little perks that make it a little more unique than a large chain hotel. I loved the Lake District themed art everywhere. The room didn't have a lot more to offer than a chain hotel, though, in size or decor, and in places it was quite shabby. The pool is small but pleasant, with a jacuzzi and steam room too. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Restaurant was a big disappointment. Although the staff were very pleasant it took almost two hours to have a starter and main, almost half an hour just to get someone to take a drinks order. We almost walked out without our mains after having to ask the maitre d' numerous times for attention. The food was wonderful, although I think the mains suffered from sitting for a long while after being cooked without being brought out.

Lovely hotel.
Had a family room which was perfect for us with a 7 and a 4 year old.
Staff were all helpful and friendly.
Restaurant was fantastic and reasonably priced.
Would use again as a basis for a Lakes holiday.

Nicely decorated place. It has recently had a refurb in the dining area. The reception facilities and area for rest are really nice. The hotel doesn't look as nice on the outside but inside it's beautiful. Prices aren't too expensive but it isn't a bargain hotel. There is a spa which is well kept and clean.

Attended for a wedding function. Food was excellent and a good selection of real ales. Staff were very friendly, just had one incident where I was told by the waitress that she would bring my change (£10) to my table. Didn't think anything of it at the time but needless to say it never arrived and I had to have an argument with the waitress to get it back! All in all I had a great day.

Clean and modern hotel. Comfortable bed and good shower.
Too hot in the room, no air conditioning, but I suppose the weather at 25 degrees is not all that common in Penrith. The motorway next door is a noisy neighbour if you leave the window open (good that it opens though, unlike some modern hotels).
Food and service were good.

Very nice stay, lots of lovely touches, helpful staff. Access to spa is included with room rate. Nice gift of local fudge in the room, excellent selection of tea/coffee, robe, slippers, lovely breakfast. A first for me, a take away cup in the room, to take a coffee with you as you head out. Very thoughtful. Highly recommend.

Had a casual early meeting here with 3 colleagues. We had breakfast sandwiches, teas and coffees. Service was good and staff courteous. The area where we sat (conservatory) was however marred by a "bad drain" smell. Having been here several times before, I was this was not typical of the hotel.

Attended a great wedding here 2 weeks ago. Staff are lovely and helped when our elderly relative was poorly. The food and service was excellent. Parking is good on site. The exterior belies the sophisticated and modern interior.

Don't know how they can justify the prices at the restaurant £5 for a toasted tea cake!!
The whirlpool lightly farts at you, so not really powerful, and the rules of no kids under 8 allowed is not enforced at all.
The gym is nicely ventilated and some state of the art equipment. No mats for ab work just a nice hard floor.
Changing room for the massage treatment had hair all over the floor for at least 3 hours so obviously not checked enough.
The main event on which I came for was the massage, which was amazing. The therapist was very professional and gave a great massage. Only downside was the music, Asian songs that you'd hear at a Chinese restaurant, strange choice. But other than fantastic.

First visit last night, hotel is beautiful, walked in to the warmth & smell of a lovely log fire. Bedrooms are spotless, loved the decor. Had a facial at the Spa which was lovely. Evening meal in the restruant was delicious. Staff warm and friendly. Breakfast was great. Will be back!!

Visited for 2 nights. Lovely room and attentive room service and staff. The restaurant closes at 9.15 so my partner couldn't make it for dinner either days as he was working late. Breakfast is only for 2 hours, but is well worth waking up for. The bar closes already at 11pm! The gym is very cardio machine oriented, and the spa caters for many kids swimming classes so it's not the most tranquil and relaxing place. However the bed and robes in the room were so comfy I didn't really even want to go to the spa anyway.

Only had one night stay here with the family. Children were made welcome but it wasn't over run with them.

The pool and the spa were very good but slightly crowded.

Staff were excellent throughout our short stay.

The food was really good dinner and breakfast both fantastic. A great place to stay for the lakes or when heading to Scotland

I gave the pool four stars. Haven't stayed in the hotel but it looks nice. Can't get myself to pay £15 for pub food so haven't tried their restaurant either. When I ordered a drink it took forever. But the pool area is nearly perfect.

Nice facilities. Excellent food and service in restaurant. The room felt small and basic- shower only no bath and no shower caps. When asked at reception was told "to ask for things needed" I would have rather had things ready in my room than having to Que at reception.... average only

This hotel is well laid out and has lots of quirks.
The rooms are pretty standard, have fridges with milk and complimentary water.
There are real fires and a decent restaurant serving good quality food and drinks.
Breakfast is served for you and has daily specials which are delicious.

The family room was really great - the kids loved the bunk beds, the crayons, colouring packs and chocolate bar each were very welcoming. When we returned to our room later, cookies with their names on were waiting on the table. The beds were comfy and I liked the coffee machine and tea selection. There was even real milk in a mini smeg fridge. We enjoyed the pool although there were missing edging tiles which you had to watch out for. Overall it was nice, but a snide, unnecessary remark from a member of staff soured our experience when dining in the evening. My husband also had to return his main meal as it was badly cooked. It was a shame really, as breakfast was good and I enjoyed the spa facilities.

Attending a conference with work. Ample space and facilities despite a large meeting of 70+ people. Great catering service with breakfast rolls, smoothes and mini breakfast bars served on arrival with yea and coffee. Lunch was a little unorganised being asked to take a seat before being called up to the buffet didn't really work as people just joined the queue upon entering. It was however very tasty and there was a good selection of hot and cold dishes. Fairly modern decor and friendly staff :)

Our annual dinner dance was held early in the Christmas party season. The room was nicely decked out, the DJ worked hard to get the party started (all helped by the offer of a bottle of wine for the most interactive table!) even while food service was underway, and the black jack and roulette tables kept interest going throughout the evening. The meal was served efficiently, well presented and enjoyed by most.

We stayed in one of the recently refurbished executive rooms which was spacious, comfortable, and had a modern bathroom, well it had a walk-in shower instead of bath. Beware that the shower may prove to be a little bit slippy to some people.

Overall an enjoyable event

Location is good for informal meetings, but don't expect to be stunned by the place, and the service is good if a little regimented in thinking. It's perfectly fine for what it is, and I'll happily keep using it, but it's fairly average.

Other than one bar bring twice the price of the other, this was a perfect place for a wedding reception. Looks the part, you'd never know you were next to a busy roundabout as all the views a very green and open, very lovely staff. All round very enjoyable.

We enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing weekend break at the North Lakes Hotel & Spa in celebration of my wife's birthday.
The staff all made us feel very welcome and were very attentive, especially the check in staff, who put us at ease after a fraught 3 hour journey to reach them.
Despite its proximity the M6 motorway, the hotel is very quiet. The room was spacious and comfortably furnished.
Breakfast is included in the price of the room, but charged separately for children at £7 per child per day. A great selection of continental and English breakfast options are available and all freshly cooked and plated up for you. There are also options to order porridge, kippers, poached eggs, etc. if you prefer. A great start to a day in the Lakes.
The Spa is open hotel guests and comprises spinning, weights, a pool, steam room, sauna and whirlpool. Additionally, you can purchase beauty treatments and massage for the ultimate in relaxation and enjoyment.
Highly recommended as a place to relax and/or explore the beauty of the North Lakes.

A stunning hotel with fantastic facilities. I was there for a training event. I had passed this place many times and wasn't impressed by the outside so had dismissed it as a place to stay but I misjudged it completely. Inside, this hotel is luxurious and beautifully decorated. Had the pleasure of a Sunday Siesta Spas voucher for two as a gift. Made the very wise decision to go myself twice rather than waste one on a friend. Such welcoming, attentive, helpful staff. Beautiful decor and ambience. Help yourself treats and drinks, well equipped gym, The oil and salt body scrub was bliss but unfortunately 25 minutes is over all too soon. Sumptuous afternoon tea and a take home bag for what you can't manage. Stylish pool and overall fab day. Can't wait for Christmas to see if I get another voucher.

North Lakes Hotel and Spa was a lovely hotel at a reasonable price located just off the motorway and within a short walk of the centre of Penrith. The staff were great and the breakfast was excellent with a varied selection. Beds were comfy and rooms are top notch. The only thing against the hotel was the fact that I found the rooms to be too warm, making it difficult to sleep (despite the radiators being switched off and the windows being left open), but these toasty temperatures will be preferred by some.
