Property's Green Action

To protect the environment, we are reducing water use, energy consumption and recycling waste with the goal of limiting our carbon footprint. We integrate sustainable development into our operating procedures, contribute to preserve local communities and the natural ecosystems in which our hotel is located. With all sister hotels, we have already planted three million trees as part of a global reforestation project supported by the United Nations. The last but not the least, we engage our partners and suppliers in their sustainable development strategy and integrate them into the responsibility chain.

Certifications

Planet 21 Bronze

AccorHotels created an action plan that offered actions listed below to promote sustainable development, tailored to the hotel context. Those initiatives are structured into 4 pillars & 2 specific issues:

- PEOPLE: Raise employees’ awareness of the eco-friendly practice
- CUSTOMERS: engage guests in a sustainable experience
- COMMUNITIES: work hand-in-hand with local communities for a positive impact
- PARTNERS: co-innovate to open up new horizons

- BUILDING: Move towards carbon-neutral buildings
- FOOD: Strive for zero food waste & healthy sustainable food

Then, to go even further, each hotel selects other actions from over 60 additional initiatives. This flexible system enables it to build its own program in line with AccorHotels’ commitments, but also reflects the hotel’s local characteristics:
- Its prior level of progress on sustainable development
- Its priority areas for improvement
- The environment and local issues

A weighting mechanism establishes the action achievement level with a score that places the hotel around the higher levels. Each level marks the progress hotels are making in implementing the Planet 21 program.

The spa didnt work, neither did the heater, but the staff were fantastic and did great things to remedy the situation. But great sized and quiet room. The bed was huge and comfortable.

Venue for Melbourne Salsa's first Sat night of the month, monthly dance in St Kilda. Packs out. Love it. More to do with the organisers and crowd than the venue. A great night.

An enjoyable stay in the heart of a nightlife neighbourhood. If you can't find a great dinner within walking distance, you are not trying. Live music is nearby and daylight walks along the shoreline makes for a great atmosphere. The hotel is set back from the high street and therefore quite inspite of its proximity to the surrounding activities.

Booked a conference for 20 here, great location, room was very nice with great view over the bay. Conference support was great and breakfast and lunch good compared to most events with similar providers. Brilliant bars and restaurants all around, loved Republica overlooking the water. Good to receive Accor point for the conference booking as well.

It was very thoughtful of the managment to present my wife and I a complementary gift on our wedding anniversary trip there. Very lovely place and nice and helpful staff. Close to the beach walking distance to some really good restaurants and a very handy tram station nearby for an easy and quick commute to the city.

Great view! from the room and it's spacious for a family room. It has underground car park which is great for road trippers like me. Breakfast was OK. All is good

We stayed at Novotel St Kilda last night and the staff there were so lovely. My son mentioned it was his birthday when checking in & when we went back up to our room that afternoon there were balloons & chocolates with a happy birthday card. They then brought up a little cake with candle which just made my sons day. Such friendly & thoughtful staff at reception that really made our experience so memorable and happy.

The hotel itself is just OK. The staff are fantastic, and so is the location. Just a few minutes of walking gets you to the beach, and a good selection of restaurants.
I'd give three stars to the hotel itself, and five stars to the staff and the location.

7

Great location with a relaxed beach side feel, easy walk to shops, cafes and pier. The hotel is clean and tidy although dated. Lacks a bit in professional service for a four star hotel in my opinion. I would class this as a resort hotel, with a laid back style. If you are looking for a reasonable coffee I would recommend Abbey Road cafe, a 15 minute walk.

The location & menu of the Esplanade Diner (formally Grill 3182) is brilliant and very reasonably priced.
The view absolutely spectacular.
We happened to dine at an early time as we had a show to go to at the fabulous revamped Alex Theatre in Fitzroy Street, virtually around the corner.
The Novotel was simultaneously hosting a medical conference & the bar Staff were totally flustered and seemingly, undermanned.
The bearded hipster waiter was fabulous & apologised profusely for keeping us waiting.
The apparent Bar Manager was in a total panic and flustered. He was rude!
It took ages to pay & we were in a slight panic ourselves as we didn't want to be late for our play at The Alex!
My previous visit, I rated this Esplanade Diner 5 Stars ***** & I understand completely that it is hard to cater for customers and guests when conditions vary from "feast" to "famine" but surely this is what casual or part-time staff are trained to provide backup in order to overcome these issues???

Very friendly and helpful staff and great layout of reception. The room was lovely and clean, very big with comfy beds and great decor! Breakfast was great, with many foods and drinks to choose from. Nice locations with great views. The St Kilda penguins are a great way to spend the rest of your night. Luna Park is a fun way to spend a day or evening. The parking was easy , but not enough space for cars on busy days. Pool, gym, family room and more great rooms in the hotel. The only bad thing was that our safe wouldn't unlock twice and had to get the man in. Other than that it's one of the best hotels I've stayed at!

It wasn’t too bad. Staff were friendly, sheets were clean. Free access to the sea bath place accross the road where there is a spa and sauna which is a plus. Just a little annoyed the they double charged me for the payment when I paid via gift card, then they charged me again. But they tried fixing this now. Over all great experience 😊

This hotel is dated and old in terms of Building and facilities. Doesnt seem to be 4 star hotel. It could be 2 or 3 star hotel. The price for this hotel should be lower. Pool is small and facilities inside room are not new and not stylish at all. It is generally less than average.

Hotel is a bit dated and needs a facelift. Room had scuff marks all over the walls and the bath looked dirty. The air conditioning in the room didn't go below 24° despite us calling for assistance. This made sleeping very uncomfortable. The cooling vents in the Esplanade Diner were disgustingly dirty and looks like they've never been cleaned. On a positive note the staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall there's much better places to stay for the same money.

We stayed for two nights at this hotel and it was perfectly placed for what we wanted. The desk staff were very helpful, both at booking in, and during our stay throughout. We dined in the hotel restaurant on our final night, and once again the staff were brilliant, both in the service given, and just chatting with us whilst ordering. I must say the food was fantastic, and reasonably priced, worth trying, even if your not staying. The only slight down point would be the showers. Although ideal for actually showering, the glass trying to keep the water off the bathroom floor could be better designed. All in all, would have no second thoughts of booking this hotel again

We stayed for one night and loved the location.
The staff were very friendly, and having on-site parking was handy.
Unfortunately, the heating/air con in our room wasn't working, and was stuck on 20 degrees the whole time. It was very cold in the room as a result. The helpful staff credited the cost of the parking as a result of this, which was well received by us.
The bathroom wasn't clean, with lots of long black hairs in the bath and shower.
The bathroom sink tap was so stiff that when the kids tried to turn it on, it turned to full on, and sprayed all over them.
The bath plug doesn't stay in the hole while the water is on - defeats the purpose of having a bath.
The height of the shower doesn't suit anyone over 5'6, it's tiny.

Great location but it needs an update. Rooms and bathroom were tired and need of an update. Pool looked dirty with leaves and missing tiles. Restaurant service was bit slow at start but the meal was good. Breakfast was good but none asked us for our room number. Bar closed before 11pm nowhere to go for a drink.

We booked our stay via Scoopon over 4 nights. Though front desk was helpful, we had to keep reminding them of our 'extras' in our deal. Room was clean, although rundown and in need of a makeover. I was surprised when we were given the ground floor as I don't think I've ever stayed on the ground. I thought it might be noisy, but no, it was absolutely fine. Easy access in and out. No lifts! Overall, I would stay there again as I have definitely stayed in worse establishments. Tram stop convenient too. Thanks Novotel.

Great location, friendly staff!
It was pleasing to to be upgraded to a spa room.
The only negative perhaps was the $25 car parking fee, I am sure business people might not mind paying it but perhaps not those there for leisure.

I was thankful for being upgraded to one of the penthouse suites, but I must say the decor is very dated and has been for a very long time. We have stayed at this hotel a few times now and it has not changed!
The food is very average, all though i did enjoy the two dips I had with the very thick chips and the onion rings. There needs to be more selection on the menu.
The service in the bar area was very ordinary and the coffee is average.

Loved the spacious room and views across the bay. Nights were lovely and quiet with no corridor or outside noise. Was great to be able to walk along the pier and to the nearby shops. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice.
Only downside was that the bathroom could do with a bit of a revamp. Looks a bit tired.

My son and I were very impressed by the warm friendly welcome by Peter at reception and with a surprise upgrade on arrival that just topped our stay. During our stay we were spoilt by the wonderful breakfast each morning and a nice clean room when we arrived back at hotel after a busy day enjoying the sites of Melbourne. We had experienced a flat battery in which Zoe from reception helped by going above and beyond her duties in helping jump start our car. We will certainly be back and recommend friends and family to visit.

The room was clean and the staff were friendly. I like the idea of the free drink on arrival. The room for one of our part was not quite ready when we arrived, apparently due to a mix up at booking stage but the staff tried to rectify the situation as quickly as they were able. Some minor repairs would have placed the bathroom at a higher standard but overall we enjoyed our stay.

We booked in for six nights and didn't use our car once. The proximity of public transport and eateries was amazing. Also the way the staff went out of their way to make our stay so enjoyable. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast facilities and the late afternoon snacks and drinks in the bar area.
Our room was lovely to come back to after a busy day walking the bay and experiencing the art galleries in the city.

Housekeeping staff were excellent - they are so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. they are wonderful staff representing your hotel.
Location couldn't be better, central to all transport.
Beds are fab - so soft and comfy.
Good, quiet hotel, close to all amenities.
Only thing I didn't like was the daily fee for parking and that I couldn't open my windows. Otherwise, excellent place to stay.

We had a wonderful stay over two nights whilst going to a show at the Palais Theatre. We have done this many times in the past and it has always been great. The room is clean, we love the view and the staff are impeccable. I tipped at the restaurant for the first time in a while because the food was delicious, the staff were attentive and the service was great. The only negative was that the windows were dirty - not sure when they were last cleaned. We will definitely be going back again!

The stay was delightful. The rooms were lovely, but some areas were looking 'tired'.
Hot water in shower took ages to come through, so seemed to waste a lot of unnecessary water waiting for it to get hot. Service was great and secure parking was available.

The staff at the front desk were very helpful and were a good entry point for your hotel. The restaurant was also a positive experience for both dinner and breakfast. The room was smaller than I was expecting - I have stayed in other Novotels and this one was smaller and a little more under the weather than I have experienced elsewhere. It was also a little noisy - traffic from outside and conversations from the bar travelled into the room. Otherwise though,I was comfortable and enjoyed my time.

Rooms are ok, the view is amazing. Food in the bar is good, the cocktails are nice The instant coffee is cheap and nasty. Ran out of toilet paper and had to call front desk to get more. Tp is only one or two ply which isn't terrible but not great either. All round good experience though. Easy access to public transport and 30 min tram ride from the cbd

This was not my first visit to the Novotel St Kilda but it will be my last. Apart from being so dusty that I thought I'd walked into a saw mill, none of the power outlets in the room seemed to be working except for in the bathroom which made it difficult to get any of my work emails done or charge my phone. The pillows were also horrible but there is an option to call house keeping to get different ones. If only they would have answered the phone when I tried to call. The only reason I'm giving it's even getting 3 stars is because it wasn't overly pricy during the tennis and it's in a decent location.

Excellent location!! Right opposite the waterfront, great scenery. Multiple culinary options with many restaurants within walking distance. Good nightlife, bars and eateries frequented by locals also within easy travel. Public transport available on the street outside. Good service and front desk staff. The breakfast is surely amongst the better ones I have had. A pleasure to visit, every trip.

There's nothing classy about this place. Just that it's in st.kilda. breakfast not included in my deal - didn't spot that in booking. 26 bucks to get one. As if.

I stayed at the Novotel St Kilda on Monday night.

Very nice experience, pleasant staff, nice room and all ruined by a policy
of charging me an extra 1.5% for using my credit card.

I'm a retail marketing manager and understand about merchant fees but this message at the end of a positive experience has a negative impact on my last transaction with the hotel.

As well as that, I can't recall the last time I was requested to pay for
use of Internet usage in an hotel, which didn't work anyway. Negative
experience

Average room, very expensive. Couldn't open any windows. TV had silly channels and the "Spa" was a bath with jets. Furnishings were dated and somehow the light switch panel fell off...

However, bed was super comfy and the room was perfect for fort making.

I have stayed at this Hotel on many occasions and have just booked another stay, the staff on the front desk ( Sophie) are very professional and friendly. Emily ( Assistant Manager ) handled a minor issue I encountered and went above and beyond to ensure I was completely satisfied with the outcome.. Many thanks Emily.
I have stayed in various rooms and the Executive Spa Suites are perfect after a long day shopping in the area.
Breakfast is buffet style and of the highest standards, a great start to the day.
I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, perfect location..friendly staff.. great rooms and amenities.. what more do you need?!
