Excellent location. Our room however was not like the picture on their website, obviously photo was taken with a fish eye lens because room was far bigger in the photo. Dont get a balcony on level 11 as the air con units for the lower floors are actually on your balcony and they make a racket. Room was very clean though and staff are friendly.

Reception checkin service was a slow process, took almost 20 minutes. Room overall was nice and tidy. Bed was comfortable and well presented. Be mindful when getting the $25 valet service, we were told that our vehicle will be parked in a secure car park within the hotel but instead it was parked outside at a public gravel car park next to the hotel. Cleaning staff were very friendly.

The staff were very friendly and pointed out spots around the city we should check out.
The room was super clean and had all the essentials.
The location was great. Lots of parking (Wilsons) around the area, The park right across the street and all the shops were super close.

Excellent views from upper floors. My room was clean and beautifully laid out. A comfortable bed meant a good nights sleep. A well stocked fridge, plenty of tea ad coffee. Also a good menu on offer for breakfast, lunch and evening meals. Lovely, friendly staff.

First time this has happened:

My wife and I checked into the hotel for our honeymoon. The room was prepaid through our booking by a 3rd party. The hotel says they will "upgrade" us to a different room on a higher floor with a better view since it's our honeymoon. Awesome!

Get to our room: it is a downgrade. Our original room was supposed to have a balcony with a view. This one is small and has a view of construction. We look up the price difference and notice this room is about also listed cheaper per night than our original and we weren't getting comped the difference.

We go back down to the lobby, of course there is now a giant line, and we find out that our original room was still getting cleaned and that was the real reason for the "upgrade". We get our original room and it is on a floor higher than the "upgrade" they gave us. Straight up lied to us.

I will give a 2 star instead of 1 because they did eventually get us into our original room, and later the first evening they even gave us a small chocolate cake for it being our honeymoon on the house. Although a nice gesture, it didn't clean the bitterness of the initial process from the experience.

I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. The service was incredible, I felt like royalty. The rooms were just beautiful and the shower was so good. The room service food was delicious. I'm excited to come back.

Nice to stay at but give yourself plenty of time if you are relying on the elevators to get you up and down the building. The bar provides quite a relaxed setting as well probably because of the good staff working there

Modern, efficient, functional. Great value!

We stayed in the Deluxe king room on the 11th floor.

Room is on the small side but you can tell it has been thoughtfully designed to maximise the available space. Plenty of power points on the desk and bedsides, smart designs like using double hooked towel hangers behind the bathroom door (don't you hate it when you can only hang one towel, or if the hook is right above the toilet!)

The hotel is rated 4 star but has more amenities than your usual 4 star hotels as we were provided with bathrobes and slippers. The WiFi was free and fast.

Location is great in the middle of the city, although Christchurch is easy to get around in so almost all hotels are in great locations.

Our flights were delayed to late afternoon and the staff member were happy to extend our check out by an hour. No staff members were available to help us with our suitcases when we unloaded them from the car, but they were happy to help us with them up to our room.

Would be happy to return again.

My stay at Rendezvous was fantastic. It's in the centee of everything so everything is easy to walk to. The rates are very affordable, and the room was fantastic! Really enjoyed the in-room hot tub! Pros: Central Affordable In-room hot tub Large shower Only con that comes to mind is that there is no accessible free parking. The valet is not much more expensive than the public lot, though. Barely worth mentioning. Fantastic hotel! Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed one night. A bit dated but clean and tidy. Lifts are a nightmare as lots of Coach parties use this hotel, long waits! Breakfast ok. Reasonable location not to far from town centre. Quite a few bars and Restaurants around.

Only go if the lift renovation finished and rooms upgraded. When I was therefore were being updated and the room was very much worse for wear. Bathroom ok as was room service and cleanliness.... nether the less I was disappointed.

Well equipped if slightly cramped room. Great location in Central Christcurch. Staff helpful and friendly. Bathroom is spacious.
Gave this a 3 rating rather than 4 because the two lifts are slow and inadequate for 15 floors, the fan in the bathroom ran constantly and there was a small ledge into the bathroom that i constantly stubbed my toe on.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant very pricey but they do have excellent food. Parking a little pricey as well, as valet is basically the only option. But the room was very clean and comfortable, and the hotel in a decent spot, a little out of the way from the hustle and bustle. Would stay again.

I like to stay here when in Christchurch as it's a good hotel close to restaurants and bars. Very close to Cathedral Square. Rooms are also modern and reasonable size. So why not a higher rating? Well the restaurant is not so good for breakfast and the bar area is cramped. And only two lifts means you can wait a while.

Hotel location is great, not far from many attractions ini Christchurch. The check in was quick and staff was helpful with our bags. Room was nice and functional, although a bit small in size. TV/program could be better as the channels are not in high definition. Elevator can sometimes be slow. There are plenty of public carparks near the hotel, which are cheaper. I would highly recommend Rendezvous hotel for a good stay in Christchurch!

7

Good clean relatively new hotel bang in the middle city centre. Has a business hotel feel about it. Great comfortable beds and crisp sheets. Polite and helpful staff at reception desk, particularly Amy. Unfortunately this doesn't carry through to some of the staff in the restaurant at breakfast time where we experienced quite rude and unhelpful service on Christmas Day! If they can fix this then it would receive a full 5 stars from me.

Poor water pressure in the shower. We had a 13th floor room. Everything else about the hotel met our expectations. They offer valet parking for $25 or pay $12 to park it yourself next door or across the street. Super friendly staff.

5

Six years ago, Christchurch was devasted by an earthquake that took many lives and destroyed countless buildings. The rebuilding has been slow, and there is still much vacant space in the downtown area. The Rendezvous Hotel is located downtown within walking distance of the shops and restaurants that have reopened. Sadly, those are few. The hotel shows that it has fallen on hard times. The rooms are small, worn, and in need of updating. The restaurant is adequate, serves good food, but lacks ambience. The city still has a long way to go. This hotel needs some upgrading if they are to remain competitive.

Had to stay here for 2 nights.
Thought it was a 2 star hotel.
The rooms were clean, staff friendly.
The lift was not working and has not for quite some time.
So only one slow lift for multiple floors.
This presents a huge fire risk.
How are they able to transport disabled ? In case of emergency?
Not a place that I would stay at again

Nice hotel, well situated, lots of great places for food within staggering distance.

Free wifi
Cafe etc
Pay parking, but cheaper or free parking is near by

Two gripes.
1) one of the tallest buildings on Christchurch ( due to Mother Nature). But no observation areas except the room you are in.

2) lifts. Only 2 lifts, for a 20+ floor building, and one lift is under maintenance, so the other is used by residents, house keeping and guests.

9

The location is great, room is clean and quiet. The bathroom is clean and modern. Staffs are very friendly and polite. Public parking lots and nearby if you are driving. The lift was under some major upgrade while we stayed there, so there was only one lift that was working in the whole hotel. The hotel is within walking distance to New Regent Street Precinct and Chrishchurch Trams.

Wow what a great experience.

We had the unfortunate situation of having our flight diverted and were put up for the night at Rendezvous by our airline. It was obviously not the best of situations but Rendezvous really went above and beyond to help us and make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The reception staff were exceptional, we were obviously not in the best of moods the next morning when having to chase airlines for flights but they were so helpful and let us use the phone, gave us advice, looked up info, called taxi etc. That really stopped a bad situation from getting to a break down point!

Rooms themselves were lovely. Bed comfy, plenty of plugs next to night stand, comfy back boars in bed to lean on, air con easy to use, and my favourite: big tumblers! I really hate standard hotel tiny glasses, and always have to get up in the middle of the night to refill so big thanks for that. Bathroom great with a powerful shower, big mirror that didn't steam up, pretty reasonable hair-dryer. Only complaint was I didn't like the TV software, felt very dated compared to the very modern hotel, but it worked so not a big downer, just felt a bit jarring next to the standard of everything else.

Our room was a bit small but didn't feel overly tiny at all, pretty standard hotel size. Our view wasn't great, but the whole of Christchurch wasn't pretty in the storms anyway.

Restaurant was nice, lovely food. Bar area was cosy with the fires. Didn't use other facilities so can't comment.

Overall have nothing but good feelings for Rendezvous, they were the one bright thing in our otherwise rubbish day!

Very pleasant although the lifts broke down. Were soon sorted. Returned early afternoon and my room had not been serviced. By which time I placed a DND sign on my door.

We arrived late due to flight delays, staff were friendly and helpful , our room neat, clean and quiet, all in good working order, we were greeted by a lovely surprise of chocolates and balloons and a lovely written note for our birthday. A lovely touch from a business hotel

Downside is with the accounts/ website
Was expecting to get a refund, reduced rate on the room rate as discussed over the phone

Our grievance is with the higher rate and the so called “BEST RATE GUARANTEED ONLINE”
Not the hotel and staff

And yes the lifts are a bit battered and are slow to arrive at your floor, leave plenty of time to checkout for this slight delay
Certainly isn't a pretty hotel, but the room was adequate and the hotel is very close to good restaurants and cafes

Rooms are very small.. the very definition of compact! Clean and comfortable though.

When we stayed only one lift was working and it was constantly in use, on some occasions we waited over 5 minutes for the lift.

The on-site restaurants is moderately expensive but the food is quite good.

Nice hotel, comfortable beds, very nice bathrooms. I would call these European-sized rooms. Staff does a nice job, but it is usually very busy at the front desk. Hair dryer is in the closet, not the bathroom. Slow elevators for such a big place, so there can be a wait.

The rooms here are small, but the hallways are even more narrow. Truly the most European (German?) of the hotels I stayed at in New Zealand. Overall very clean and minimalist.

Oh, and don't try to order complicated drinks from the bar in the lobby. They don't know how to make it and will take forever and a day to figure it out, serving everyone else around you while you wait, seemingly forever.

Friendly staff. Tidy, comfortable rooms.
The elevators are very slow so make sure you allow extra time for getting up to your room. I found using the stairs more efficient even though I was on the tenth floor.
I accidentally left some belongings in the room and the staff were very helpful in locating the items and sending them to me at my next location.

Hotel was nice, staff very friendly and the restaurant especially so, food was awesome and bar handy. However the administration is a shambles. Firstly they took our credit card to run up expenses which is common and I have no problem with this. The problem is they debited money straight away without telling me (a kind of bond if you like). I happened to book two rooms so this was done twice. Thinking that I didn't have much money halfway through my stay and had a bill to pay at the end, I cancelled going out for the night with friends. Finding out at checkout that they had debited $250.00 I had actually plenty of money left to go out after all. Three days later and I still haven't had the money back. They say it is standard policy, but I've never come across it before. I will not bother booking another room. Also I had vouchers for this hotel prepaid with extra deals involved, it would help if the staff understood these if the hotel actually wants to promote themselves through those type of channels.

We had a perfectly nice stay here at the hotel. The staff was friendly from start to finish, always helpful and accommodating. An employee of theirs named Clark helped us many times during the stay and always with a smile on his face, so truly we have only nice things to say about all of the personnel.
The only reason this is getting a 3-star review is that the rooms are simply...underwhelming....or "tired" for a lack of better word. Our room was possibly one of the best views on the hotel, on the 15th floor and a view of much of Central Christchurch. It's certainly not the hotel's fault that there isn't much to see in Christchurch from the view, as the city is in the rebuilding stage from their devastating earthquakes a few years back. But the room was simply small, we had to squeeze to get by our own luggage, the bed was too soft and woke each other up each time we turned over or got out of bed. And there was nothing particularly special about the room, just very...average.
Considering this was our honeymoon, literally every other place we went to gave us either a free bottle of wine, a bigger room, something to make things special. I'm not sure they did anything for us, it may be that they gave us this "great" view for that very reason, but if this was their best room then that's kind of sad, considering we've stayed at far cheaper hotels throughout our trip and this was the only one so far we were happy to leave.
Again though, good people there, and that goes a long way at least.
