Environment

Property's Green Action

We believe that incorporating societal and environmental factors in our business strategy and operations will play a vital role in the long-term viability of our business and the travel and tourism sector. We manage and minimise our impact on the environment by tracking and reducing the use of energy, water and waste. We also use bio-friendly cleaning materials and promote local sustainability initiatives such as low carbon alternative means of transport.

  •  Local community involvement

Certifications

Green Engage

The IHG Green Engage system is our group-wide online sustainability program. It allows hotels to track, measure, and report on their carbon footprint and utility consumption as well as recommending more than 200 ‘Green Solutions’ which help deliver greater sustainability.

The IHG Green Engage system:
• Measures energy, waste, and water use
• Recommends over 200 Green Solutions to reduce the impacts our energy, waste, and water use have on the environment
• Supports hotels to create environmental action plans and targets
• Promote local sustainability initiatives such as low carbon alternative means of transport
• Biodiversity: keeping the disturbance of animals, plants, and their natural habitats to a minimum. A set of recommendations aimed at preserving and protecting on-site local flora and fauna and the wider regional ecosystems has been developed. This includes advice on the management of green spaces and long-term strategies for protecting local environments.

Green Globe

Green Globe’s International Standard for Sustainable Tourism is a certification scheme that requires hotels to report on their sustainability performance throughout their supply chains. It traces its roots back to the United Nations Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit in 1992, where 182 Heads of State endorsed the Agenda 21 principles of Sustainable Development. The standards are a collection of over 330 compliance indicators that are applied to 41 individual sustainability criteria - these can be divided into four themes:

• Sustainable Management
• Social/Economic
• Cultural Heritage
• Environmental

Clients can calculate their CO2e footprint, the financial cost of that CO2e, and track their performance of energy and water consumption and non-recyclable waste production. The certification is only awarded to members that have a compliance rating of at least 51%. The award can then only be maintained if members continually improve by 3% every year.

We had gone as a group to the bowling center. The bowling center does look little worn out and old but otherwise a great place to have fun.

Key historical events date back to InterContinental hotels. The Willard D.C. has been at the centre of political life in Washington since 1818. The first example of the Grand Hotel, Amstel Amsterdam (pictured above) reflects palatial luxury on the Amstel River. Located in the 9th arrondissement, Paris Le Grand is a stunning example of Napoleon’s love of grandeur. Wherever you travel, there’s a story to tell.

The place is awesome. Prices are reasonable. Would be better if they offer an English menu cuz I did order something which I'd never ordered. In Arabic the dish isn't really like what I expected.

luxury room with very good breakfast, the hotel is big and good located and easy to reach anywhere in Riyadh, they have good facilities for meeting, conference, small exhibitions, it is good for both business and leisure stays, very good restaurant in the site still prices are higher for same level and food quality in other places

Standard used: Anything four seasons/ritz quality and above is 5-rating, 3 is roughly an OK Marriot. I am not benchmarking against hotels of different type (courtyard, four points, etc)

The hotel is nicely located with clear demarcations for entry and exit. Staff is courteous upon arrival and immediately pick up your bags. I did not have any particular issues at check-in but the guests either side of me were complaining, citing a lack of clarity on their benefits as privilege members. I would take that with a grain of salt.

Rooms desperately need an upgrade on almost every level. The carpets are ripping and now emanate a rank odor after years of dust accumulation. The same could be said of the chairs. The bathroom smells bad and the shower head needs replacing. The worst is probably the bidet spray, it appears that's not cleaned as part of room service, so make sure you detox the area before using anything. This is pretty disappointing by intercom standards and is reflective of a policy of reputation, rather than customer satisfaction.

The food is a mixed bag. Room service is an abomination when you factor in prices, with cuisine that lacks any character and is bog-standard in every other way. Breakfast, while expansive, primarily feels like leftovers from last night. I didn't try any of the restaurants but a quick search leaves me believing it will be more of the same.

Facilities include a bowling alley, well-maintained tennis courts, a golf course, an excellent gym with a sauna, showers and clean bathroom. I feel that it's a big source of income. Now, despite everything I said above, this might make it worth it for you to stay here because at this price point, it will be hard to find similar amenities.

Nice hotel with a friendly staff.
The room are wellfurnished but the view is below average.
It is the only hotel which have a female swimming pool, but the drawbacks that it is only ftom 10 am to 2 pm. Also the problem that there is no seperate Gym for women, she only can use it from 10 to 2 also which is really depressing.
Overall everything is good there for men!!

Their Gym is awesome. It is quite empty and it is open twenty four hours a day. The trainer there is very knowledgeable and friendly and really knows his stuff. The only issue is the pricing. Recently they doubled their pricing for the gym because they renovated it. However, I give it five stars because of the timings of the gym and how it's relatively empty usually and there is a good parking space available. IF you have the money, then go to this gym, if not, then Fitness Time is the best.
