We throughly enjoyed our two nights at the Sonne in January. Staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful - as always in Switzerland! Our room was very clean, comfortable, well equipped and spacious, overlooking the ice rink and with great views through the trees to the lake. This particular room was under the roof so there are some awkward wooden beams and steps you might need to watch out for at night, and as it is directly above the beer garden, it might be a bit noisy in summer, but we had no problems.

Dinner in the relaxed Stube restaurant was very good with friendly and helpful service throughout, and a decent choice of local specialities.

The hotel location is great - about 3 minutes’ walk from the S-Bahn station (12 minutes to Zurich Hauptbahnhof, trains every 15 minutes). The ZVV ferry stop is right in front of the hotel too, so you can take the boat back to Zurich or further down the lake.

We had a really nice stay at the Sonne, and hope to do so again before too long.

Beautiful location and was greatly surprised that we could take a ferry boat into Zurich and not have to mess with busses or trains or trying to Park our car. Ended up seeing everything we wanted to see in Zurich Old Town and with the added bonus of going there on market day. What a treat.

Very special and romantic but there is no Air condition.

Pretty nice place overall with a couple of speedbumps during our stay. A colleague got scolded by someone from the hotel when he left a window open to get some air in his hot room and some rain splashed on the floor, and a barmaid resisted my requests on how to make me a cocktail. But the staff was otherwise helpful, courteous, and accommodating, the surroundings pleasant and restful, and the rooms were small but attractive and comfortable.

Well located right at the lake. Romantic place with delicious food and friendly staff. I can highly recommend the restaurant especially in winter time.

Die Aussicht ist super! Nur das Essen ist sehr teuer... Es ist auch sehr interessant die Schiffe landen zu sehen!

Very good service: the young girl at the reception was extremely kind and gave me useful informations of the surroundings. Rooms is clean, big, well equipped and with nice and classic furniture. Nice smoking bar with good drinks choice. Good breakfast. Big private parking. 10 minutes to ZH by car.

Als Einheimischer von Küsnacht habe ich selbst naturgemäss kaum eigene Erfahrung mit der Sonne als Hotel - einmal abgesehen von der stets makellosen Zufriedenheit meiner zuweilen hier auf Besuch nächtigenden Verwandtschaft aus Deutschland und Australien.
Als altgedienter Einwohner von Küsnacht bin ich persönlich aber begeistert von der Gastfreundlichkeit und der hohen innovativen Qualität in der "Turmbar" der Sonne. Senior Bar Chef Helmut, der weit über Zürich hinaus für alles und jeden die besten Adressen kennt, und seine sympathisch kongeniale Nachfolgerin Jelena mit ihren raffinierten Cocktails schaffen es, die Sonnen Bar als einen Ort und Treffpunkt zu pflegen, an dem anspruchsvolle Hotelgäste aus aller Herren Länder und einheimische Nachtschwärmer spontan miteinander ins Gespräch kommen können, aber auch in aller Diskretion eine geschäftliches Gespräch führen oder einen anstrengenden Tag ruhig für sich ausklingen lassen können. Eine unaufdringliche aber wirksame Lüftung sorgen dafür, dass sich Raucher und Nichtraucher hier im Fumoir der Sonne gleichermassen wohlfühlen, und machen die Sonnen Bar zu einem Ort zwanglosen Geniessens, wie er heute weltweit selten zu finden ist!

Restaurant: Wurden von mehreren Leuten bedient (mindestens 5-6); leere Flasche Wasser wurde auf dem Tisch gelassen, dafür aber das Glas Wein mit noch 2 Schluck mitgenommen. Personal sehr hektisch und relativ unfreundlich. Essen mittelmässig. Wenn man nicht am äusseren Rand der Terrasse sitzt, hat man relativ wenig von der Aussicht.

Ich würde dieses Restaurant NICHT weiterempfehlen.

Die Lage ist zwar gut, allerdings haben die hinteren Tische kaum Aussicht. Alle Tische sind eng beieinander.

Die Bedienung empfanden wir als unfreundlich. Das entspricht keinesfalls das Niveau eines solchen Restaurants.

Die Qualität des Essens ist durchschnittlich. Wir waren zum Abendessen da. Weder die Vorspeise noch der Hauptgang haben überzeugt. Der Wein war OK. Für zwei Gläser Chardonnay, 1 kleine Flasche Mineralwasser, zwei Beilagensalate und Zürigschnetzeltes/Ratatouille haben wir CHF 115,00 bezahlt. Qualität /Preis stehen in keinem Verhältnis. In Zürich und Umgebung gibt es wesentlich bessere Restaurants.

Wunderschön liegt direkt am Zürichsee..

Sehr tolles, romantisches Hotel. Wer sich ein Wochenende in der Nähe von der Stadt Zürich aber in Ruhe direkt beim Zürichsee entspannen möchte, wird dieses Hotel sehr schätzen. Freundliches Personal und tolle Küche! Sommer wie Winter, jedesmal wunderschön in der Hotel Sonne.
