I can not be more grateful for my journey. I have travelled through different cities in Belgium and this hotel stend out from other Hotels from my point of view . I have difficulty with the air in the hotel room for 2 nights , and they understand my concern and try to fix it so I can enjoy my stay to Gent. I have complained about my allergy problems and I received a room without carpets. And they upgraded my room for free. Thank you very much for making costumer service more efficient.

Lovely hotel, highly recommended! Staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful, especially with our 1-year-old daughter. Convenient for the old town without being to central and noisy. Breakfast was very good.

A boutique hotel done right. Gorgeous restoration of an old space with sophisticated modern touches. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Rooms are modern and beautifully furnished. Location is convenient to the city center. Can't recommend this place enough.

Amazing hotel in a building with great history. The hotel is spread over a huge space with a garden at the back. There were a number of bars and meeting rooms as well as a huge restaurant which has exceptional food. It was just a short walk to the river, shops, old parts of town. Other restaurants and brunch places close by. I would really recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel. Rooms are well outfitted and a good use of space. The wait staff in the di ing room could do with a bit of training and the promise of a taxi never came when we needed to get to the train station. It was a bad weather week so maybe it is better in the sunshine.

Lovely. Many quaint rooms to relax and enjoy a refreshment. I have never encountered a more attentive and gracious staff, to include reception, concierge, restaurant/bar and housekeeping. We will be sad to leave.

This is a fantastic hotel experience for the business traveller or those on a weekend city break. I have stayed here a few times and I have always made full use of the facilities on offer, including the great wellness facilities and the top of the range restaurant.
However, when I arrived I had a problem with my double bed, as I am quite tall and it was two smaller beds pushed together. It wasn't Ideal, so the morning after my first sleep, I went to the reception to find a solution, as the bed was just too small for me.
I was served by a very professional and customer orientated lady named Astrid Malkoc who immediately sprung into action and ensured that the issue would be rectified. I went to my room and within 30 mins Ms Malkoc had sent a gentleman to my door, with keys to a bigger and better room with a full double bed and I was asked to come and view it to determine if it met me needs.
It was a vast upgrade from what I had, so I was more than happy. I want to thank the management at the hotel for the great service of their staff. Ms Malkoc is a credit to your organisation and the manner in which my complaint was dealt with turned my stay in a happy 5 star review, from a possible 3 star stay.
I will be booking this hotel then next time I stay in Gent. Well done all of the staff on duty this week in reception, the restaurant and room service. You continue to exceed my expectations. (Not many vegan options for breakfast though.)
Also, I love the decor. Well done.

Amazing hotel but the bar staff should SERIOUSLY get more polite and less "bored" when interacting with the customers. Every year I'm coming to this hotel and still the bar staff is amazingly inflexible and even rude at moments. This surely needs to be improved by the management.

We had a nice price offer from some friends working in this hotel, so my girlfriend and I booked a short stay in Ghent for the weekend. The standard rooms are quite... standard indeed. Not too spacious, but all have a balcony with view on the beautiful garden. By the way, we loved the bathroom with walk-in rain shower (no thub). The hotel is located in walking distance from the city centre and has mixed business people and tourists. There's a business centre, free WiFi, cocktail bar, restaurant, lounge, fitness, sauna & wellness and a lovely garden with BBQ facilities. The personnel was very helpful in advising us on places to visit and go out dining. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious stay near Ghent's city centre.
Parking your car near the hotel will cost you some: €20 per day in the hotel's parking garage or in the public garage Peperstraat for €15 per day.

Very comfortable for a long stay, provided you book one of the larger rooms. Hotel staff are excellent, helpful and accommodating. The breakfast is amazing and the chef prepares excellent fare for dinner. It can be tough to find parking on site if you work late, so be prepared to park elsewhere in that event. (St. Nicholas parking garage is a short walk towards the city center.)
If you are driving in, be sure to plan your route ahead of time. Do NOT rely on in car or mobile GPS navigation. It will route you the wrong way down one-way streets and sometimes not allow routing on streets that are perfectly legal to use, also the traffic patterns are changing for the city center on April 3rd, 2017. So check the official tourism website for updated maps.
Ghent is a wonderful city and the Reylof is a really nice home away from home.

Outstanding!! Although, there are many great hotels in Gent, I don't think that you can beat the mix of decor, atmosphere and service available at the Sandton. I have visited Gent many times and stayed in many places, but on the last visit it was with the Sandton and the stay with them was the best yet. From the reception team to the manager, the atmosphere and service is absolutely outstanding. If you are driving, parking at the hotel is excellent with both parking bays and individual, lockable garages available. The hotel is located literally 4-5 minutes from the centre of town - The photo is of sunrise in the street outside of the hotel where you can see the spires of St Niklaas church and the Belfort - follow the road around the corner and you're standing in front of St-Michael's church and a cobbled bridge over the canal centre of the Korenlei and Graslei. Funnily enough, this is a sort-of main street, but that is all the traffic there is at 7am and it doesn't get that heavy because the centre of Gent is more or less reserved for pedestrians and cyclists (of which, a good few thousand are students). If you want to try some excellent Belgian cuisine, across the road is Restaurant Gillis (mainly Belgian meat-based dishes) around the corner is the 'old town' which has a multitude of good restaurants and on the Graslei and Korenlei are restaurants like Belga Queen and Allegro Moderato... not withstanding the fact that the Sandton also has great food and drinks, which meant that, on a couple of occasions, we failed to make it out of the hotel in the evening.
On this visit, I was there with some others using the hotel as a base for some cycling in the region and for viewing De Ronde van Vlaanderen. The whole team at the hotel were very accommodating to the cyclists and their bikes - even managing to help us with hoses for bike washing - which was exceptional and above expectations.

Beautiful place in a great location, the hotel has outstanding service and beautiful rooms. The restaurant's service doesn't live up to the rest of the hotel and may cloud your stay. You want to eat somewhere else. Good but small spa.

Nearly perfect experience. Yet some details that can be improved.
Be certain to ask a room away from the street side, as you have direct vis a vis with the facing appartments.
The interior is very beautiful and interesting. A lot of care is taken for details. While the layout is a bit confusing, the staff has been very helpful and friendly to show us around. The sauna and fitness are really nice and compared to other hotels this is spa -like. The garden is a nice place to hang out. The same atmosphere is continued in the rooms, with clever details. But a watercooker was absent in the room, so late night tea is not a possibility.
Breakfast had some very nice exclusive items. The sweet cakes and juices a plenty. The eggs perfect medium boiled and nice warm items. I just didn't appreciate the chunky yoghurt (it stood out of cooling in huge trays. So it became chunky and separated), the fruit was fresh yet it was cut in huge chunks and not bite-sized (for example, an 8th "moon slice" of a melon cut in half instead of 3-4 pieces that you can fit in your mouth). And the cheese (the mustard cheese seemed dried out) and meat for in the bread weren't to the level of everything else. A slice of Sereno or chorizo would've made it more complete in my oppinion.
The culinary dinner was well worth it. While the staff remained attentive, they forgot about us once we ordered drinks during the last course. The pleasant atmosphere made this not a huge issue. But it was strange to hear "we forgot you, do you still want your drinks?"
This is a very nice experience with an excellent location. Where the staff is very clearly coached to cater to your wishes.

There is no doubt about the reputation of this charm Hotel.
The friendliness and professionalism of the staff is unchallengeable. The restaurant is top and you can also enjoy a particular humor of one of the bar staff member called "Danny".
Don't hesitate to book you room as well as the Hotel is in the center of Gent !
Very nice hotel. The room and bedding was perfect. The view on the courtyard side is very nice. Lovely staff.
