Please note this is a motel and not a hotel. The room door open to the outside with guess walking by your windows making it noisy at times. The rooms were average and a little on the dirty side. This place was once a Holiday Inn but they drop it for does not meet their quality standards. Prices high for what you get but it is all about the location to the beach that makes it worth the price. Do not expect 4 or 5 stars at this motel for it is a 2 to 3 at best.

Second visit to this hotel on the island. I've gone to extend my trips to Sanibel. It's people are friendly. It's super well cared for. The bar and restaurants on site have decent drinks and food, and it's not over priced. Go online to find early bird discounts on rates. You won't be disappointed. 😎❤🐠

I love the atmosphere of Sanibel Island. Our room was nice, but we kept finding black hair everywhere, which is a little gross. Not sure if I would go back again but I liked it for a one time stay

Booked as a last minute getaway, and was not sure what I would end up getting. Hotel websites and their pictures can be so misleading! But it turned out to be a very pleasant experience. Up to date and very clean rooms. The pool area and snack bar were very nice as well. Has access to the beach just a short walk from the rooms. Overall a very good experience. Look forward to going back!

(Waterfront) We stayed at this little hotel between a Monday and Thursday. It was quiet. It is not your big city 5 star hotel and it's to small to stay on premise full time with a larger family but it is cozy and clean with a true island feel perfect for a place to shower, sleep and take a dip in the pool and beach.

This hotel sits adjacent to a residential neighboorhood and private beaches so you get the feeling of privacy without the noise of traffic and tourists nearby. Yet, this hotel is 1 mile from everything such as cafes, restaurants, coffee shops etc... so it gives you the flexibility and easy access to come and go do other things.

We would definately come back.

Nice little hotel style place to stay with the family with a nice pool, the corn hole and ping pong table adds to the already awesome walk to the beach you can enjoy with family and friends. Many shells to collect and comfy hammocks available to all with wild bunnies for the kids to chase around.

Great time there and definitely will consider staying here in the future!

We loved it so much we extended our stay. Staff friendly and accommodating, rooms clean and comfortable. Beach loungers and towels provided, and the lush greenery, poolside bar and laundry an added bonus. Will definitely stay here again.

This is a hotel upgraded. I love to have a room with ocean view and walk distance. Be ready and bring your umbrella cooler. The hotel will provides the chairs.
The restaurant is good only breakfast and dinner is available. Lunch at the pool (fast-food only).
No life guards so it gives you the freedom to bring your own kayaks, and beach toys to have fun at the ocean.

This hotel from the beginning getting to the location was farely easy tucked away in neighborhood community towards the beach secluded. The hotel it self is pretty modern and alright cute small compact place. Pool was okay quite small but cabana and seating place was very low key which is nice. The number one best thing about this hotel was that it was steps go the beach the hotel is set right on the beach the cabanas by the tree was awesome. There food from restaurant was okay but pretty pricey. Sand of this place is super beautiful very relaxing overall. Low key quiet and I would say is great for kids. Rooms were clean and normal. Here for 4th of July day pretty nice overall.

I stayed overnight at Sanibel Island beach resort with my family while visiting a friend, overall the experience was fine however there were some issues we had with our room. First, we had only enough towels for two people when we had four in the room so we had to ask and wait for those, however secondly and worse was when we started taking a shower at backed up and they had to come and pull a lot of hair out of the drain so that was pretty nasty, aside from those two setbacks the beds were comfortable the location was fine the grounds were clean. One other observations that I may add is that the rooms had an odd mixture of new modern and old furnishings it struck me as odd and all the baseboards were torn out, possibly they're doing some updating that they didn't mention to us. Having said that I don't think I'd stay here again

The location is nice, staff is friendly, beautiful grounds. The room is nice size but the bathroom is very small and the shower head was black with mold that I wiped with washcloth. I understand it can be over looked but the extra lock was half broke and loose. The Tiki bar was over priced drinks but that’s what comes with a resort type bring your own booze! Overall for the price and the resort fee $35 fee a day and a nice shelling bag and water is nice touch. The passing of food from restaurant at the pool area was a nice surprise best flourless chocolate cake was amazing

It was a good but not so good experience. Started with check in as in we were suppose to check in as a gift from someone else who had paid for everything and had some issues that was not addressed until we got there at 10pm. I then fixed the paperwork for that issue and all of a sudden another issue that they waited to tell me when it coulda all been fixed with a different CC until the person from back home got the paperwork fixed.

Breakfast at the Italian restaurant was extremely slow and had problems with our food. I'm pretty sure being from Wisconsin I know if there is cheese on my Omlet. And not "O its there I can see the color" No wrong answer.

But overall the beach and the pool was great.

Beautifully updated. Grounds are lovely, beach is beautiful, lots of onsite amenities. The price for Florida residents did go up, but they gave us a complimentary pool side upgrade! Nice staff!

Pretty nice. The "private" beach is really just an extension of the regular beach, so the resort amenities are where the real value lies. Hammocks, poolside bar, and location are the best parts. It's a motel style resort, so do not expect frills and thrills... It's basic but clean and sufficient. I would stay here again.

Relaxing, inviting and very very clean.Comfy beds. Comparably priced for the area. The tiki bar and the private beach are must haves. The only things missing are adequate amenity info in the room and a spa would be great.

6

Great location and my room was recently redone, modern AC unit, nice decor but all-in-all the amenities don’t live up to the $500/night price tag. Essentially this is a nicely redone motel, not a resort with the expectations that creates. I’m on a two month bucket list tour of the Gulf Coast, about 1/2 way through so I’ve stayed at a lot of places for comparison and this one underperforms the price tag.

Nice place. Great staff and perfect location on the beach. Fun tiki bar and pool is nice and warm on a cool spring morning. Nothing fancy about the place, but we will be staying here again next year when we visit with our family for spring vacation.

Hotel has just been taken over and is now listed as a resort. Prices are up, but rooms are the same tired decor. Bathrooms small. Comfortable and good location, right on the beach. Restaurant on site. Have stayed here for several years, and hope that next visit will see upgrades to justify price increase.

Bait and switch pricing. I booked my stay thru Concur our company travel agent and chose this hotel due to price. The two day stay was nice but since I was on business I didn’t even get to the beach for a walk. Upon check out they add a $25.00 a day resort fee. Not knowing what this was I asked, they said the pool, tennis, ect

This fee made me feel I was taken advantage of on the room price.

Nice spot, Beaufull Beach, nice pool, high resort fee and noisy laundry at night. Busy renovating the rooms (but they don't work after sunset, so no problem there, new rooms look very nice, but old rooms also not to bad)

4

Beautiful and clean but otherwise pretty lame for the price. We thought we were getting a room with a Gulf view but we did not. Each person is charged a resort fee.... and everything shuts down at dusk! (We showed up at the pool and tiki bar at sunset and learned that it was closing.) No hot tub. Also rooms are noisy.

Easy beach access, and their tiki bar is open to even non-guests. They make a great margarita, and their food was excellent. They had neat sand sculptures on the beach as well, but I don't know how often they contract those.

Outdated rooms! Don't listen to the posting saying "modern." Our first room had bugs, which looked like bed bugs, but the manager insisted they weren't. A couple minutes later they treated the room with homedepot bug spray... You can hear anything and everything from the room because of the "modern" single pained windows, covered in dead bugs and dust. The only thing really enjoyable about this place was the access to the beach. BEWARE OF THE RESORT FEE!! I didn't book on the website, so I was not aware of it! $25 a day

A lovely little hotel situated very near the beach. If you want a view of the Golf, ask for a second story room, as the first floor has a better view of the pool than the golf. The food is quite expensive at the hotel's restaurant, so be prepared to eat elsewhere if you're strapped for cash. The hotel has a pool, some hammocks, some seating on the beach, as well as a few outdoor activities that you can freely make use of. I recommend it

I have stayed a few nights each year while on vacation. The rooms are always clean and ths staff is always friendly. The bar tender this year was not friendly. He didn't speak to anyone until he was ready to take your order. He didn't even say hi I will be right with you. We really loved the pool and beach. The prices have went up since they changed ownership or the name. I wouldn't call this place a resort. It's a hotel and is now overpriced.

This place is so beautiful. I looked at all the other resorts and this one is the best. Great location, best beach, food/drink bar right on the beach. Palm trees with hammocks hanging just for you. Lawn chairs for you. The landscaping is amazi g. I got the Suite and it is perfect. The staff here is so nice. This will be the place I always come back to. This is a pic I took, check out this location view.

The location is great but it's clear this was once a standard hotel that one wouldn't apply the term "resort" to. We experienced an unclean room upon check-in and there were ants living in the walls, crawling in and out of a power socket. The maintenance and housekeeping staff were gracious to remedy the situations but the management were simply glad when we left. We addressed our management issues with corporate and felt some resolution there.

All in all, not a good value but tolerable in a pinch. Our visit was over a weekend toward the end of March 2017.

This place is amazing! Me and my boyfriend had a terrible experience at a different hotel on the island and we came to the Sanibel island Beach Resort (formerly a holiday inn) at 2am. They only had one room available so we took it and wow! The room was simple but cozy. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were nice and soft (I mention this because the other hotel we were in has really hard pillows and bed). There's a microwave and a small fridge; they give a complementary beach bag with 2 bottles of water included. They are just steps from the beautiful beach, the pool is so nice and relaxing. There's a poolside tiki hut where you can buy drinks or food. They have a bunch of beachside hammocks. There's a good restaurant next to the front office and a 24 hour gift shop in case you forgot something (or in our case, if you get sun burned and realize you need aloe at midnight). You can rent bikes or paddle boards. I have nothing bad to say about this place! I had a magical time here!

Ok where to start... the band aid on the night stand, leftover wash cloth from previous guest, or getting locked in the bathroom twice and the front desk thought it was humorous. I'm just glad I'm not claustrophobic or a person with anxiety issues. I was just frustrated with as much as we paid that things were not up to par. The pool is nice and well maintained and the beach access was beautiful I will applaud the good things.

Great resort with old world feel. The hotel was just dated enough to keep some of the people looking for fancier accommodations away, but nice enough to still have a great time. We had a poolside room and loved the property; the tiki bar, pool, hammocks, games etc were perfect. We will be back.

We booked two rooms for our family that flew in to visit us. Little did we know the hotel will not allow us on the property as we are not physically staying with them. If you plan to have a family vacation this is not the place to stay. I do not recommend.

5

This is only my opinion, but it is the correct one!
The location is great. We were not expecting a 5 star place but for what they charge per night should be a little more classy. Charging us a high resort fee when you have a lame pool, no fitness center and no food to order seems odd. The place is old, clean and quiet which was nice. Having to pay to rent a bike is also a little weird since you are charging us a resort fee. We will not be coming back.

Planned a 3 day trip for myself, 27 yr old daughter and 19 yr old son at the recommendation of a friend. The hotel was a tad dated , but made up for it with the friendliness of the staff, facilities and beachfront views.
Central spot for restaurants and activities.
The best part was having bikes on the property that we had access to for $2 per hour.
I can't wait to do this again..
We've found a new home away from home on the west coast.

Great location, and nice Beach. Rooms are nice and clean; the staff is great not just nice but very helpful and friendly. The tikibar and the restaurant were closed (not the hotel's fault, but still) which meant that we had to drive to a restaurant if we wanted something more than snacks. The continental breakfast was very "limited" and to get to Sanibel you have to pay a $6 toll ( publix, CVS, e.t.c) are on the mainland sooo, if you are planning to get something last minute make sure to do it before crossing the causeway. If you are unfamiliar with the area try to make sure you get to the island before dark, there aren't many street lights and the signs are hard to read.

Jim was our initial contact, very professional and kind. He took the time to explain a LOT to us about various bugs (No-see-ums) as well as weather, etc. Very much appreciated him. We had contact with various staff from the restaurant, bar, cleaning crew, etc. all very helpful and easy to talk to. This hotel is incognito in some ways as is their remodeling project but that is a lot of its charm. Very middle of the road, not high end at all just a great place for families. If you didn't want to you would not have to leave this property at all to do everything you need or want while your there including shelling!!

We had a fun time and would stay here again and we think you should too!! People staying there were great too!!

Had a great experience at this hotel. You cannot beat the convenience of staying beach side. There was a nice area with hammocks under the palm trees, and they provide beach furniture and umbrellas for their guests to use. The staff woman that checked us in wasn't overly friendly, but overall, we had a great experience and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

I was reluctant to write this review because more of you might come and discover it as well..... But I cannot say enough nice things about this hotel. For the price, convenience to the beach, the pool, the breakfast and the staff, you simply cannot beat the price.
We have stayed at this hotel twice and loved it each time. The beach is steps away, and you pass a beautiful pool along the way. It is just a few blocks off the bridge, and the rooms are quiet and clean. Granted, this is not a five-star hotel - ultimately, it is still a Holiday Inn. But if you are looking for a family-friendly hotel for a great price on Sanibel Island, look no further.

Great location, nice grounds including hamocks with ocean view, fair price, rooms need some serious maintenance, staff is very unprofessional and untrained. they over charged me 2 x the agreed upon rate and could not explain why. eventually (5 days) got a refund but not without a major confrontation with the manager who was the worst of them all.
