Shahpura House

D 257 Devi Marg Bani Park, 302 016 Jaipur, India Access

Shahpura House

In 1956, Rao Dhir Singh, created the Shahpura House, once residence of erstwhile rulers and scion of the Shekhawat clan of Rajputs. The house has been converted into a hotel by Rao Dhir Singh and the doors have been flung open to the visitors from all over the world. Rare among hotels it has remained a family home, where the members of the erstwhile ruling family welcome you personally as their honored guest.

The Traditional Rajput architect, a mixture of Mughal and Indian, a facade with domes and frescoes. The House is a very fine example of Shekhawati frescos and architecture. The family portraits, which add to the charm of this family hotel where tradition still runs strong. Like many historic houses, Shahpura House is a curious mixture of the old and the new.

Shahpura House is located in a plush residential area of jaipur, well insulated from the bustle and chaos of the city in Rajasthan, a North western province of India. Jaipur also called the Pink City, surrounded by the ancient Aravali Mountains and set on the edge of three lakes, is a brilliant kaleidoscope of narrow lanes flanked by bright stalls, gardens, lakes, palaces and temples. The Shahpura House is about 4 kilometers from the city center - Court Square.

Yet only 10 mins from the downtown. Extensive laws set and ambiance of peace and serenity. 16 kms from the airport, 1 km from the bus and railway station, 3 kms from the pink city.

Jaipur is easily accessible via air from Delhi or Mumbai, with convenient road and rail connections.

Nice hotel, historical place, friendly people, splendid rooms. Like it. And doesn't kill your budget for a stay. Definitely a recommendation. Would go there again anytime.

This is probably one of the most memorable hotel stays I've ever had. I stayed here as part of the package tour that I booked in Delhi. It really is an oasis of calm in the middle of a bustling City. The only negative thing that happened is that there was a power outage and it got very hot in a short time, I was surprised that a hotel of this caliber did not have a generator for backup. But they did thing to put out candles so people would not trip in the hallways. That in and of itself made the stay memorable. See if you can get a room facing the pool side, rather than the other side of the building which looks upon a rubbish pile.

Wonderful property. Equally wonderful team of professional, warm staff. Great rooms, super offseason prices, sumptuous food... Cannot expect anymore 🙏🏼

This hotel was located centrally enough for our tours and business meetings, since Jaipur is a small city.

Finally, keep up the great work, team Shahpura! We love you guys.

PS: Only Red Flag: Avoid the spa because it's terrible. Very untrained staff (esp. the male masseuses), who have NO clue about muscle points, slobber you with oil and pretend to give deep-tissue massages. Felt like shooting one such. Anyway, it would be hilarious if it were not costing you 3500rs :| I didn't pay, and prefered to walk out mid-session.

Pros: Very beautiful hotel. Looks very elegant.. comfortable rooms with all amenities.

Cons: Bed has fine sand/dust and and power cut problem exists. Little away from main attractions of the city.

Our family of 6 just stayed here in three rooms including the incredible blue suite. This sanctuary is just what you want when travelling, excellent, discreet service, comfortable spacious rooms, and one of the best showers i have ever experienced in room 117. We ate here every night, as the menu changes, and the al fresco dining was divine. Thank you for a memorable stay

We stayed here for three nights whilst exploring Jaipur. The hotel is a beautiful oasis away from the bustle of the city centre. The rooms are big, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and the food delicious. We would highly recommend staying here.

Beautifully decorated rajput palace recently turned into a hotel, the service is extremely nice and the luxurious rooms are a great value for money - especially if you are upgraded like us! It also offers two rooftop restaurants with live music and a pool and spa with reasonable prices. It is ideally located in a calm neighborhood 10min away from city center. We will definitely come back!

Courteous staff, comfortable rooms, good food, great interiors, vibrant. I am sure there are many more places which offer similar hospitality, still you shouldn't stop yourself from experiencing this place.

A fantastic property which provides a real royal stay. You can feel the luxury which the royal families used to enjoy. However if you are an Indian and planning to stay in this property then let me tell you that don't expect 5 star service level. As this hotel is mostly used by foreigners hence the staff pays less attention to Indians and often tends to give you a "royal" ignore.

This hotel is something else. It is approached via a slightly odd road but once inside you are transported back to the day of the Maharaja and this is the palace of one. Decor is stunning, service is very good without being in your face and the food is excellent. Certainly somewhere to consider if visiting Jaipur...and it does not cost a fortune either.

The decor and gardens are beautiful. The staff are helpful and friendly. The room is large. There are lifts . The food was excellent but they served starter and main together. I stayed 2 nights but on one night my room was not cleaned- no fresh towels or water. Overhall i eould stay here again and recommend it .

Awesome property! Traditional architecture very tastefully blended with modern amenities and very courteous, friendly staff. Good options for food with rooftop restaurants setting up a very romantic ambience. The bar and cocktails were a bit disappointing, but th overall ambience makes it all worthwhile. Even though, the location of the hotel is in a residential area in the middle of the city, you're transported almost magically tona whole new world as soon as you step in. Absolutely amazing!

Fantastic place . Loved every bit of the stay. You even have a pool table to spend your time. The only thing that could be annoying for a few is the rooms allow in each and every noise from the outside world. So if you are very tired, you may want to avoid staying in the ground floor .

One of the best hotels we had stayed in India. From the complimentary pick up to the traditional entrance, the lush hotel grounds, clean and very decorative bedrooms and bathroom. Paresh made us feel most welcome and looked after our family of 8. Not to mention the great breakfast on offer.

It was a wonderful expérience staying in Hotel Shahpura. It had beautiful rooms and a very courteous staff. Our room was upgraded to a suite room which was very nice and cozy. Swimming pool was well maintained and clean. Lawns were also well maintained. Food also tasted nice. We enjoyed puppet show and rajasthani folk dance which was complimentary. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Very welcoming staff, fascinating interior which is authentic to traditional values subtlety mixed with modern facilities. Choice of two excellent restaurants to cover all tastes with friendly staff. Room was very comfortable and luxurious with a balcony to view the amazing pool and gardens. We were made to feel right at home and thoroughly enjoyed the Diwali celebrations laid on for all guests - the rooftop meal where we could view fireworks from all around was an exceptionally special treat. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the Jaipur area.

Excellent hospitality and beautiful rooms.

The staff understands the customer requirements / needs and takes necessary action. I had requested for a king size bed as I was travelling with my family. However, I was given the room with 2 single beds as the room with king size bed was smaller compared to the one given to me. The single beds were joined which sufficed are needs.

Fantastic heritage hotel building let down by is staff.

The building is a maze of corridors and spectacular lounges and the room was fantastic.

The staff however were pushy with drinks each time you saw them and hung around for tips.

If you're a photographer, you will have tons and tons of antiques of all sorts to take pictures of. There's wall paintings all over the place. Mirrored ceilings, and more and more miniature paintings on the walls. Virtually every inch of everything is done up fancy and artful. You'll be amazed. You will have more to photograph, than The National Museum in New Delhi.

Being in there last month. It's ok in general. The PR old man should be retired. He stands in the room for ever waiting for a tip making the host being embarrassed because he deeply stares at you and whoever else in the room. Once he gets the money he kindly asks you not to write this issue in the web page. Here it goes my writing. Please get rid of him this does not help your hotel at all. Would never come back over there. Cheers!!

Very good value if you are looking to stay in a traditional Haweli style hotel rather than a modern hotel. Has a lot of character and charm and the staff try to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The rooftop restaurant is great for a nice relaxing meal at the end of the day and they try to make your stay more enjoyable by providing entertainment and a taste of local culture.
Had a room with private terraces which was great.

Overall it was a pleasant stay in Jaipur. The only negative point is that it is situated in a noise place anyway. On arrival we were greeted by staff members and they were very helpful and kind. We stayed in deluxe room which was comfortable and spacious. I only spent 1 day (the last time 3), but a real worthy place.

We stayed here for 2 nights, in December 2012. The hotel is nice and well maintained. We had a suite which was absolutely gorgeous. After an (expensive) stay in the Shapura palace we selected the Shapura as a base in Jaipur. Nice neighborhood, not a lot of breathing space around it but well situated. Pool area small but sufficient to relax after sightseeing, though weather too cool when we stayed. The hotel's greatest asset met us right after we had arrived. I really enjoyed the Jaipur city tour and we would like to come again to visit in Rajasthan.
