Older, but nice gated plantation. Bike trails throughout, black top trails on the bumpy side-in need of update. 2 exits/entrances. Fire station on edge of plantation. One private beach entrance by club house. Public restrooms. Usually see an alligator or two in the big ponds. Tennis courts & golf course.

Houses are typically on one-time lots and you can bike to the beach. Beach Walk, The Greens, Tennismaster, and Colonnade Club Villas are walk to the beach.

We have a two bedroom villa here that we use about six times a year and then rent through Island Getaway. I'm sorry for the the bad review from the person who lives here, but we love Shipyard and we do consider it our home away from home. I agree that the auto decal people are a little casual about how they do things, but we just figured it was the southern way. Otherwise the people we have met here, security, the staff at Sonesta, everyone has been so friendly. If we decide to move or 'upgrade' we would not go anywhere else other than Shipyard.

We have stayed at several different houses and condos at Shipyard plantation over the last 10 years. The grounds are always beautifully maintained, and the bike paths are really awesome for leisurely exercise or getting to the beach! Each of the sub-sections have their own pool, so its not overcrowded. I wouldn't choose to stay anywhere else at Hilton Head!

If you plan on Vacationing in Hilton Head, Do not come to SHIPYARD. I live here and even I get treated like POOP. Can't even get a New Decal for my car because my lease is up May 31st. If I pay good money to live here, I should be given a decal for the length of my lease (1 year). Instead I get a decal for 7 months and then was told by Rude people in the office that I have to call in a paper pass to get to my home. This place is so unorganized and RUDE. If this gets deleted, no worries. I'm gonna post over and over on FB and other Web Sites and back on this one. I was planning on renewing my lease here in Shipyard, but not anymore.
