Been there at the restaurant, which has an astonishing view of the Copacabana beach.
As it is a 5 star hotel, this is also what calls for their prices as well.

Very nice staff, helpful, they speak English. The staff is well trained for a five star hotel and they deserve five star. The location is great and if you got the room with the view, will have a wounderful view

This hotel is a bit tired... The self-rating is 5 star, but that's very optimistic. Not updated, not very clean and ultimately just about acceptable given the price.

Wonderful restaurant, excellent drinks and courteous staff. Really a 5-star treatment. A bit expensive as all upscale hotels, but you get service in return, a rarity in Brazil.

Rooms were really nice, the bathroom had these cool mirror things and looked really fancy. The beds were really soft and the blankets were fluffy. There was a good view from the window, overlooking the pool.

Wonderful service and great location. Right across the street from famous Copacabana beach and a 5 minute walk from Ipanema. Our room was modern and clean. Anytime we needed anything at all, we just had to ask and the staff were prompt and accomodating. Food at Atlantis and Horse's Neck Bar was good, and service was great. I would definitely recommend the hotel to others. Only issue was that some amenities were not available or being remodeled for the Olympics, but this didn't affect our experience. We applied mosquito repellent daily and actually didn't see any mosquitoes all week.

The hotel is a bit old fashioned (most probably because Sofitel doesn't actually own it) and CCTV virtually everywhere.

Not as expected
This hotel has a unique location at the tip of Copacabana, but the building structure seems like the 70s.
The rooms & restaurants are good. The staff are proud of the little French they speak , though I think this hotel is not exactly in Paris.

Pros:
- Killer location on Copacabana beach, a few minutes walk from Ipanema beach
- Excellent breakfast banquet

Cons:
- Smoky rooms (non-smoking rules not enforced, thick carpet that isn't properly cleaned)
- Inattentive service staff
- Very expensive for value provided

Nice hotel, good location with views over Copacabana beach. Very friendly staff. Could do with a bit of renovation in the rooms. Great breakfast buffet.
