The Forbury Hotel

The Roseate Reading has been described as The UKs Sexiest Townhouse Hotel by The Evening Standard and the design and opulence is the talk of the fashionable set - The Cerise Cocktail Bar has an award notable wine list and an award winning cocktail barman - There is a 30-seater cinema room with Italian leather seats available for private hire and functions - whether business or pleasure

The 55 rooms and suites arranged over four floors blend design - art - lighting and sound to create a space that does not just look right - it feels right - this atmosphere permeates throughout the hotel but it is about much more than the exquisite decor - From the 86000 Italian glass beads in the chandelier running the height of the building in the old lift shaft to the opulent fabrics and wallpapers and attention to every single detail - there is simply no place in the UK as extraordinarily opulent and stunning - A bold statement but true- -Theres a feeling of style sophistication and sexiness about this hotel with its Italian chandelier plush fabrics and swanky wallpaper however in the gorgeous Aheli spa-the emphasis is on clean lines and a feeling of wellness- Spa time can start with a gym workout and continue with a sauna and steam room experience but the absolute relaxation begins in the treatment rooms-Here you can enjoy traditional massages and facials or choose one of the spas beautifully curated rituals such as the Traditional Bali experience

Nice room, good service, excellent breakfast. Be advice there is no airconditioning, you can not open fully windows, the smells from the restaurnt kitchen is going straight in the room and buffet on Saturdays is opened after 0800.

My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful night at the Roseate hotel after we were invited for a complementary stay. We stayed in the Roseate suite, a very large suite on the first floor of the hotel. The room has a four poster bed, dinning table and six chairs, large bath and rain shower with a seat, selection of dvds, cds, sound system, Nespresso machine, and a seating area. It is the ideal room for a special occasion. The only issue is in this hot weather there is no ac, but we made use of the fans provided.

We dined in the restaurant and were treated to a really wonderful meal. The Himalayan salt beef is a real stand out dish, with truffle potatoes and the palate cleanser of watermelon and wasabi was inspired. We enjoyed it so much we are already talking of returning!

I didn't make it down to breakfast but my husband enjoyed his full english and kindly brought me up a smoked salmon sandwich, that I enjoyed with a coffee in the room before we checked out.

We did a show round of the hotel afterwards, there's some lovely meeting rooms and I am now sorry we didn't make time to use the private cinema, which unlike several hotels I've stayed in is actually luxurious with a huge screen.

I'm really pleased we came for a follow up stay a few years after our first.

Formerly the Forbury, this hotel is in the center of reading, has great bars and restaurant and even an outside garden dining area.

Gorgeous hotel in a central location near to Reading town. Service was excellent and the only small issue that we had with a cocktail was rectified without fuss. We opted for breakfast in bed (it was our anniversary after all) and everything was delicious. We had a junior suite and couldn't have asked for a more perfect stay

We went for dinner at Cerise, in The Roseate. Great location, right across the road from Forbury Gardens, within minutes from Reading Station and the Oracle. Friendly staff, great food, quiet location for the centre of town. Well decorated hotel

As always great service at this hotel. Would only add a turn down service as we had room service before heading out at 7pm that was still in the room at 11am. Clean, tidy and high quality finish throughout the hotel.

Absolutely fantastic hotel and restaurant. Great value for money and we really enjoyed the cinema night. The rooms are luxurious and great for a photoshoot. I use it for maternity and newborn photoshoots. It's really local to the city centre, close to the train station and has parking.

Bed was hard, pillows were terrible and room service was bland with ice cream coming melted. BUT the bathroom was super nice, really enjoyed the large tub and rainfall shower. The hotel is a great location but a hard bed is hard to love for me.

Small portions. Tasty food. Bit of attitude from the bartending staff when challenged but acknowledged that I was right (with no apologie though...) Not the best value for money in reading but a lovely place to go to even though restaurant/bar area is subpar compared to the hotel

I only delivered to the Roseate so I cannot speak for what it would be like to stay there as a guest. However, it was extremely poorly signposted and the rooms were numbered unclearly. Also I did not receive a tip. All told it was a mediocre experience.

I attended a wedding being held here. It looked very luxurious, the interior decoration was up market and blended modern with a more traditional asphetic. The food was fine, we had a buffet and there were plenty of choices and plenty left for seconds if you wanted more (a good sign as a lot of places will skimp on portions). A couple of downsides were the size of the function rooms and the lack of adequate air conditioning in said function rooms. They were small only being able to hold about 15 - 20 people comfortably. We went on a very hot day and although the air conditioning was fine in the lobby and the hallways it felt non existent as soon as you entered the function rooms themselves. This resulted in an uncomfortable ceremony and a lots of sweating. They didn't even put fans in the room to assist which was a shame. Overall it was fine, I imagine in different circumstances it would be a lot more pleasent. On a cooler day I may have given it four stars instead of three.

Beautiful hotel. The quality in the detail made it one of the nicest overnights we've ever experienced. The room was gorgeous, the bar and restaurant intimate and staffed with the nicest hosts. We will be telling our friends and family how great this hotel is and returning with them.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay for an anniversary. A tranquil hideaway hidden in a rather busy reading. While there are no fancy facilities (gym, pool, spa) it was the perfect retreat from London.

The bar alone are great cocktails, although they did fail the Sazarac test!!

Great place with amazing food and service (we were here for a group event so we used a private room and had a 2 course meal, as well as fresh pastries in the morning, fresh muffins, and fresh cookies in the afternoon - amazing service!!)

We visited for drinks at the bar. The service is still very good but drink quality has really gone downhill. Everything is so sweet now. E.g. my friend's drink of choice the "French Blade" has been completely changed to something far more bland, sweet and unadventurous.

I really liked the Forbury Hotel. The staff were really attentive and helpful. The room was wonderful. Very grand and relaxing. The only downside of this hotel that I can see is that there isn't very much to do at the hotel itself.

Have been for Afternoon tea a few times, and service was excellent,
But today I found the waiter was "curtly polite",not a smile or any comment, such as a simple "enjoy" did just what he had to.
We were a bit early. As we usually are, and never been a problem when we asked for the pot of tea, he said "In a minute "

We stayed in one of the best rooms in this gorgeous hotel on the eve of my sister's wedding, and it was the perfect place to get ready. What more could you want than a four poster bed, a teardrop bath, shower surrounded by twinkle lights and even a dinner table? Perfect for a treat weekend away, plus it's within walking distance of all the best restaurants in Reading.
