It is a division of the Taj Group of hotels. But it is majorly suited for the corporates and low budget travellers. The hotel is located right on the Ruby General Hospital crossing and is quite convenient for people who have major work in the southern part of the city, Kolkata. They have a huge banquet hall and currently they hosted the World Music Day Celebration over there. The staff are pretty hospitable and courteous. The security guards at the gate need more perfection though. That was the only blip that was faced where the guard directed us to the front door whereas the event was to be entered from the backdoor. The hotel looks amazing. Yet to explore their rooftop, which I've heard is pretty good for that matter. Let's see. Judging from the outside, overall quite good.

Over all ambience and proximity is very good. Food is good but not brilliant. Facilities are quite good. Rooms are well maintained.

Attended a seminar there last week. The ambience of the hall was cool and comfortable. The waiters were polite and their service was prompt. What i disliked was the quality of their food. Really awful. Specially the fish preparation.

As everyone knows that it's a 5 star deluxe hotel and it's situated in a very crowded place just opposite to the ruby hospital towards the acropolis mall. There were many classification of rooms. But I stayed in one of the deluxe room with an awesome attached washroom in it. The washroom was like a room having sofa, bathtub n many more. The room service was excellent means up to the mark. Without staying one night u won't be able to imagine. The most attractive place was the rooftop swimming pool. It was just mind-blowing. I had my breakfast, lunch n dinner from there. The Indian food were delicious. I just loved it. Would like to visit again if possible.😊👍👍👍👌👌

Food's fine. Tasty. Can be more original with menu. Had gone for a friend's wedding there. Good staff of servers and cleaners; cleaned up immediately, even as guests got up several times. Few more staff could have helped the guests at the buffet table instead of leaving it entirely up for self-serving. Beautiful decoration done for the reception party. Good parking space n service, although, should be expanded more. Efficient security system as well.

For me the big positive of this hotel is its location. Also appreciate the effort to create a certain ambiance by rendering local music by local artists in the morning hours. No other hotel that I know has this, though many have an evening music session. Staff are amiable and friendly. Most of the foods served has local flavour and I love it.

Basically a hotel that is meant for business travellers and tourist stopover. Has all facilities of a 4* hotel. They have their own restaurant and bakery. The restaurant is famous for authentic Bengali food. Pocket friendly.

A good place to stay in Kolkata

A nice, quiet and gorgeous place to stay. Wide and spacious room, nice city view can be counted as a plus point. Air conditioning system is excellent. Bathroom is quite good. Little variation in buffet breakfast, though very much tasty. Staffs are very well trained, and helpful as well. Ms. Purnima in the huge lobby is very much friendly, and is always ready to help the guest. When we checked in, she took us to our room and explained everything very politely. The rooftop swimming pool and the gym next to the pool are also nice. Good value for money.

A 5-Star hotel from the Taj Group located opposite to Ruby Hospital - within convenient travelling distance from both the airport and south Kolkata. While it is not the best hotel in the city and the rooms do not scream of 5-star luxury, still it is not below par either when compared to other 5-star hotels in Kolkata.

Excellent place for movie lovers. Well connected with road, Comparitavly cheap to others. Good sound , good seating arrangement but screen is bit small. Overall excellent place for movie lovers.

I am a phd scholar and my genre is service industry. I must say your service is awesome and i am impressed. Excellent hospitality, awesome food spread n buffet. There is a bar called SWIRL, a restaurant called BUZZ. Its not my first visit. I always use ala-kart but first time i visited n their buffet section. The buffet had awesome spread with non veg and veg foods. Great amount of starters and all kind of cuisine.

This is a 4 star hotel. It was a lovely experience at the Gateway.This is one of most Amazing and Splendid Hotel . This is my first visit to hotel and had no idea about the hotel.The stay was awesome and the staff are so courteous.
The service is excellent. Rooms are well maintained. Restaurant service needs special mention for its excellent attention to the guests. Food variety awesome. Many a times at short notice they have served the dishes mentioned. Breakfast spread is always good. Overall good.

Awesome hotel providing awesome hospitality! I received excellent service and a very friendly atmosphere feeling like living at home. I stayed there for an entire month. Crew was very courteous I received very warm reception at the buffet breakfast every day morning; chefs were always around asking what special breakfast I would like. I had some back pain due to some medical issues; they changed my mattresses three times giving different type without a question to make me feel comfortable. They take care of their guest individual basis. It’s very secured and safe place for guests. With access card in the elevator to stop unauthorized intruders, Room service and housekeeping remarkable.

Good place for conducting seminars and presentations , Hotel staffs are really helpful and generous. Delicious foods are also other advantages. One suggestion to the hotel the common toilets should also have hand shower along with the paper, as we are still Indian at heart😉😁

A excellent luxury hotel on EM bypass. Well connected to Howrah station, Airport, Salt lake and Park street. Large clean rooms. Amazing food, which is customizable to your needs. Rooftop pool and gym are a different experience. And of course, the Taj hospitality and service are always AWESOME!

Excellent hotel. Maintaining the tradition of Bengal and Kolkatcea. Food is good with availability of varieties of Bengali dishes. Service is excellent.

Dont know much about this hotel as I have not been there. But I can share information regarding the surrounding place of this hotel. It is situated in one of the best place in Kolkata, a bit crowded, with every other facilities provided. And yeah, the connectivity from here to most of the places is an easy go.

Rooftop gym and swimming pool with a city pool is good. The breakfast spread of the hotel served at buzz is good. Charged rs. 450 per person for residents and 800 for non resident. So while booking do check if the breakfast is included or not. Amenities in the hotel are nice.

Had a very lovely Poila Boishak lunch at the gateway. The buffet was a brilliant spread. I simply loved the jackfruit korma and the mocha ghonto. The staff was very warm and courteous. They deserts were lovely as well

One has to consider the historical nature of the hotel, which seems mostly in tact, when rating the hotel. The lobby area and common areas are very nice and inviting. The rooms, however, are in severe need of renovation. The rooms were mostly clean. Staff was helpful and friendly.
