The golf course is unbelievably beautiful. The course itself is a challenging yet fair test of golf. I advise that you drive up and look at the layout of every par 4 & par 5. Time flies while you are playing.
EVERY hole is a picture waiting to be taken. The views and vistas ar just gorgeous!!
The most beautiful course i have had the privelage of playing.
Worth every dollar to play. Entire course is bent grass. Do yourself a favor and book a tee time.

We absolutely loved every minute at Primland and especially in our treehouse! This is definitely a place we want to return to and spend a lot more time! The people, the food and the service were all incredible!

Just got back from Primland and it didn’t live up to the hype for us.

While food was good, service was seriously lacking in the restaurant and the spa (wait staff was consistently MIA and we cleared our own lunch table). Not a big deal if you are at the hampton inn, but definitely missed the mark at a 5 star resort.

The house we rented was in need of a deep clean and the daily maid service was a no-show. Won’t be rushing back.

I came to Primland for the day to play in a golf outing. Course was absolutely immaculate and clubhouse what very nice as well. Service was closer to 4 out of 5. Had issues finding bar attendant at the turn for food and refreshment.

Great resort located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Plenty of amenities to accommodate any type of guest that comes through the gate! Would highly recommend for any golf/wingshooting/fine dining/etc. enthusiast. There is something for everyone there!

This place is wonderful! You can really get lost in a place like this. 12,000 serine acres of nature. Such picturesque views from the golf course. The course was impressive, to say the least. From the challenging layout & tournament quality conditions to the 5+star service. This place is just begging to get on an annual (or more) list of must visit places. You get what you pay for! Go & enjoy.

Prime luxury resort where they make every effort to make you feel like an honored guest. Everyone who works there has one job, and that is to make you comfortable and happy. They are all well trained.

Donald Steel designed golf course that is visually exciting. On top of the mountain in Virginia, this resort is one of elegance and charm.
The Director of Golf, Brian Alley, was outgoing and very professional. The service he and his staff presented was first rate. Attentive staff with thorough training.
I could play this golf course every day. Deserves the 5 star rating across the board.

My husband and I went to Primland to celebrate the upcoming arrival of our first baby. From the moment we walked in, the service felt personal and no detail was overlooked. We received a room upgrade and ended up with two bathrooms and an ample sized dining and living area, a little bit nicer than the room we initially booked. The food and service at Elements was exceptional and it quickly became the highlight for breakfast and dinner. 19th Pub was only okay. The spa was intimate (I was one of three ladies in there the entire afternoon), though quite dated. The relaxation area was comfortable and featured pretty views. Both myself and my husband enjoyed our treatments. Because of the intimate nature of the resort, we enjoyed meeting and spending time with several other couples while we were there. We walked several of the easy-to-navigate trails. We usually avoid going back to the same location or resort because there are so many other great ones to experience, though we plan to go back to Primland sometime in the near future.

Beautiful, peaceful resort. Elements restaurant was amazing! Less formal clubhouse restaurant was great also. Black Bear house was perfect for our group of 10 guys staying for the weekend - tons of stuff to do (pool table, pingpong, card tables, cornhole); although the house is older and has a lot of signs of wear. Definitely in need of some updating but still very comfortable. Golf course was amazing and challenging with breath-taking views on every hole! Service was 5 star everywhere we went!

A Lovely Experience.
I absolutely adored staying at Primland. Talk about an elegant place for rest and relaxation.
The property is gorgeous.
Each member of the staff from those running shuttles, holding doors to those making arrangements for us, serving meals
or guiding around actives had a friendly and professional demeanor. I so much enjoyed their hospitality.
Recomendations-The Observatory, dinner and music Saturday night, and horse back riding.
A great brunch menu for Sunday.
And whatever you do doesn't miss out on getting into the indoor pool. That as well as the hot tub made our last night there one I will have good memories of being REALLY relaxed.
The only thing that would keep from visiting Primland yearly would be the cost. But, I will keep looking for reduced rates, combined deals, or other opportunities to get there again.
And I will recommend Primeland to any person or group looking for a resort.

The rooms here are absolutely gorgeous. Our fairway cottage was complete with a XL claw foot tub with a view of the golf course, a king size bed, a large fireplace, and Kitchenette. They greet you at the front door with a glass of champagne, which can’t be beat. We only left our room for the spa and dinner which were both well worth it. Our massage services were incredible and we did the chefs table at dinner eating while watching the chefs in the back work their magic. The chefs table was well worth the price, but if we were to do it again we wouldn’t have done the wine pairing and would have ordered our own bottle of wine. It’s a ton of wine and we honestly couldn’t finish it. If you do a wine pairing, just order one for two people and that will be plenty! Don’t let the winter season sway you from not going to Primland, their carolers and Christmas decorations made a gorgeous setting. They have an excellent wine happy hour daily which we took full advantage of. Additionally, on the way you can stop at Chateau Morissette Winery for a nice pit stop (but don’t bother with the food wait until Primland). Our visit to Primland was one of our favorite memories, and unfortunately we haven’t found anywhere as memorable and as great of an experience as Primland in the DC area. I guess we will just have to go back!

Amazing, beautiful resort. I am going to stay a secound Time. I go here by myself to recconnect spiritually. I feel 100% safe, staff is helpful and polite. Property is beautiful, lots of activities for families and individuals like myself. Spa is nice, little small but no complaints.

You can either stay in your room with an amazing view or go out and participate with activities or go to the restaurant.

Since I was by myself I purchased room service, AMAZING. Nothing but amazing! I will always stay in the cedar bluff king room GREAT view. Nothing but excellence. Clean, beautiful room.

Making this a yearly trip for myself! MUST GO RESORT!

My wife and just stayed at Primland on 9-8-17 thru 9-10-17. First I will say that most of the property is truly beautiful and the golf course looked to be a world class track. As others have stated, there is much to do at Primland. However, our activities were less than world class or five star. We came to Primland to relax and play some tennis and do some mountain biking. We also arranged to have a guided fly fishing expedition, which I have done many times in the past at other Orvis facilities. First, the tennis courts are a huge disappointment. They are much worse than most Middle School Tennis courts (pictures attached) and that's bad enough, but they advertise them as "Soft Surface", which is not true. They were covered with deep cracks, leaves and mold. We called the front desk twice - nothing. We then told them the courts needed to be blown off - nothing. We then found the manager and told him - again no response after multiple complaints. I just grabbed the website description of their tennis facility and it has not been updated despite me telling them it is inaccurate. Second, the fishing excursion plainly states that lunch is included with guide service (website attached), however they refused to remove my lunch charge upon departure. After dropping $2500 in two days, they lost me totally over $42. Either stupid, or poorly trained or both. Third, I am an avid Mountain Biker, understanding that most that visit Primland will not be avid Mountain Bikers, they also go out of their way to describe mountain bike trails for every level from beginner to advanced. This is completely inaccurate and misleading (website still up). This property has so much potential, but is far from 5 star. 5 star resorts do not lie about amenities on their website and go out of their way to honor guests requests. I am writing this in hopes that they will update their website so future guests won't feel as if they have been purposely mislead and that the staff really doesn't care or is not empowered to make a simple change to the website to accurately reflect their amenities.

Great service. Incredible people work here. Good food - even french fries taste gourmet. Personally, I would like some of the portions to be bigger though. The golf course is lovely, though edged with a surprisingly natural landscape. I think I would have appreciated a just a little bit more cultivated so it looked less unkempt around the edges. The lodge itself is lovely and inviting.

Undoubtedly the most pristine and challenging mountain golf course and facilities anyone could imagine. Would highly recommend one puts Primland on their bucket list of golf courses to play and visit. If you want to truly get away from it all, Primland is it!

Quiet, relaxing, hiking, spa, golf. Just perfect in every way. The golf course is phenomenal. So many hiking trails to chose from. We went skeet shooting and had a blast. You can fish, horseback ride, kayak, yoga, atv, or play disc golf on a really interesting course. Treehouse accommodations are available. it is spectacular.

A truly beautiful facility in a stunning (east coast) mountain setting. All the outdoor activities you could want, including for children. Very strong hiking trails and golf courses. Excellent restaurant and good pubs for less fancy dining. Generally well trained hotel staff, excellent restaurant staff. Currently on our fourth visit.

Absolutely incredible! Brian Alley is a first class golf professional. We had to wait due to the heavy rainfall and winds but we were able to enjoy some wonderful food and drinks. Once the storm passed we teed off and the golf course was in immaculate shape. I fell in love with the place and will be going back to spend a weekend with my wife there. 5 star rating is the first I have ever given.

Primland is a beautiful resort with an excellent spa and some of the best food I have ever eaten.

The Pinnacle Suites are perfectly located with the best views imaginable for a five star hotel. Our suite had two balconies, motorized shades, beautiful furnishings, and windows galore looking out on seemingly endless mountains and forrest. From the bedroom it wasn't hard to imagine that we were alone up there because absolutely nothing spoiled the views.

I cannot say enough good things about Elements restaurant. Course after course the chef did amazing things with even the most simple ingredients like the farm egg with grits and basically every single side (the parsnips and sweet potatoes, in particular, I could eat for days). Everything was perfectly cooked and meticulously plated. The waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. The wine list contained so many of my favorites and wines I could only dream of tasting. The desserts were decadent and creative and the perfect ending to the meal. I wish Elements was closer to where I live because every single special event, celebration, and date night would be there.

There are some small issues with attention to detail, mostly with housekeeping and room service. I specifically requested particular pillows that weren't in the room. Breakfast both mornings came missing items that come standard. My husband and I ordered the same meal: the first morning mine was missing potatoes and his was missing a biscuit, the second morning both were missing biscuits. We got butter and jam for the biscuits, but no biscuits. It's possible a small thing, but when an egg, bacon, sausage, potato, biscuit breakfast costs $60, it should be right and have all of the components.

Another small thing is that the towels in the rooms are thin, sand papery, and not absorbent. The towels in the spa, however, are plush and soft and thick.

The small annoyances are easy to overlook when the majority of the staff go above and beyond. The manager on duty personally drove us to our suite on a cold, windy night. My masseuse in the spa made me a big bag of water when I mentioned that I wish I had brought a case because my husband and I drink so much of it. The waiter shared stories of his 6 month old when I mentioned that this is my first trip away from my baby. We had happy birthday custom chocolate waiting in the roon for my husband's birthday and they comped two rounds of drinks at dinner (the first round both nights). Those things overshadow the things that aren't quite perfect.

I am obsessed with the variety of accomodations here. Choices range from luxurious to rustic from quaint to exclusive. The Fairway Cottages are well appointed. Cardinal East has the best view and the most spacious great room. The Pinnacle Cottages especially the Dan River suites are luxurious with spectacular views and large balconies. Stay in the Lodge for the convenience of being close to amenities while still not having to give up privacy or feeling over crowded. The Mountain Homes are rustic but a bit further out from the rest of the action. The Red Fox is amazing for a getaway with family including a separate playroom for kids. Play Frisbee Golf if you want an inexpensive activity guaranteed to be a workout. Ask for Michelle in the 19th Hole if you want first class service with a side of sassy charm.

Wow. This place is fantastic on all levels. It is a tranquil setting, with first class service. What a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The rooms are fantastic, the food is delicious, and the golf is truly a must play experience. We stayed for three nights, but I wish I could have stayed longer. Highlights include a guided tour through the cosmos in the observatory (a must). Sitting by the outdoor fire pit and having a smores kit brought to us. Enjoying the casual bar with some wonderful bourbons. This is truly one of the hidden gems when it comes to finding a slice of paradise off the beaten track. Take the time to visit..I promise you won't be sorry. I can't wait to get back out there for some more R&R. To the folks that work and run Primland... GREAT JOB by all.

Staff is exceptional! They never miss a beat. Top notch accommodations. Activities for just about everyone who enjoys the outdoors (golf, fishing, kayaking, hiking, shooting, ATVs, etc.). Played a round of golf with a member and the experience was outstanding. The course is amazing, the views are fabulous and the staff and services are top notch. This is the first place I have ever played where someone cleans each one of your clubs as you finish with it on the driving range. You drive up to the club drop and then you don't see your car again until you are ready to load up and go home. Everything you need is there waiting for you, many times they know what you need before you even have to ask. Do bring some cash for tips as they handle just about everything for you. I highly recommend a trip to Primland.

Returning for our second stay, to decompress after our wedding, my husband and I wondered if we'd over romanticized our last visit to Primland, over which we became engagind. I'm pleased to say, that we had not. The resort was every bit as wonderful as we'd remembered!

We arrived very late and despite the near midnight check-in the staff were pleasant and warm! Thank you to Larry and Harper for greeting us with a smile! Having now stayed in both the lodge and the new pinnacle cottages, I can confirm that both accommodations are luxurious while also being unassuming. You just can't go wrong. Beautiful views, warm design finishes, crisp linens, comfortable beds, gracious bathrooms. The rooms are as nice as anywhere we've ever visited.

Both Elements restaurant and the 19th pub are excellent. We had four very tasty meals while on property. The menus offer a variety of regionally and seasonally appropriate selections, all executed very well. Beer, wine and liquor selections are on point.

I was able to indulge in a trip to the spa for a massage on this visit. The spa is small and quaint, clean and peaceful. My treatment was top notch, the best deep tissue massage I've ever had! Thanks Michelle!

Every aspect of Primland's service is nearly flawless without being fussy - something that is rarely accomplished. You're made to feel at once, like you're in the 5-star place that you are, while also conjuring the feeling of being at summer camp with your friends! It's delightful.

Needless to say, we are very much impressed with Primland. We will absolutely recommend it to friends and colleagues, without hesitation.

The only downside is leaving.
