Initial reaction was good, the location is close to the centre and receptionist was welcoming. Upon arrival to the room things didn't look so good.

Rooms are not maintained to a high enough standard to warrant 4*, stains around the bed are quite frankly disgusting. Heating didn't work, which seems to be reported frequently in recent reviews. As such we attempted to call reception, however the phone has no power and after pulling out the cables we found even the phone line wasn't connected.

So after visiting reception a total of 4 times to resolve the issue we eventually were given a stand alone heater which is fair given it appears the whole heating system is broken however the constant need to hassle staff for something to be done about it takes away from the gesture somewhat.

Sleep wise room 106 is a bit noisy. The flag outside appears to have lost a bolt and come loose, causing a loud rattling throughout in windy conditions. Again the whole place just appears to be lacking attention and in need of maintenance.

After all this disappointment a morning coffee to start the day fell short as the Nespresso machine in our room was also on the 'needs maintenance' list.

All in all, this was an exceptionally disappointing stay. The hotel is undeserving of its current rating and the whole place is in desperate need of attention from both a facility and customer service point of view.

I would encourage anyone looking at this hotel to read more recent reviews as you will find many similar experiences to this.

My fav hotel in Leeds. Lovely staff. Just out of the way in a perfect location. Rooms are spacious and each room is different in design. If your staying in Leeds.. this is the place to consider.

Every time I visit Leeds, I always stay here. It's a great location, being only a few minutes walk from the station and city centre. The rooms are a decent size, with a great shower..but the bed....it's massive, and very comfy - always a great night sleep. To top it off, there is a fantastic gin bar here win a large variety of gins and the breakfast is super tasty. All in all, a great place to stay if you're in Leeds.

Very nice boutique hotel. Great restaurant but I was closed when we were there.
So we had to go to the lovely Thai restaurant next door.
Great gin bar too.

Only stayed for one night, but was very impressed. Tucked away in a bit of Leeds without much going on (unless you are the sort of person who frequents the euphemistically titled "gentlemens'" clubs that litter basements around this part of town). Room was great - short walk to the train station, and an absolute bargain when I booked...

Boutique hotel, just 5 mins walk from the train station. Warm welcome, good sized rooms, lots of little extras, great quality breakfast. Relaxing bar area and a special gin bar I highly recommend!

I stayed here with a friend of mine and I can say hand on heart that I've never stayed in a nicer place. All staff members were very helpful and kind and made us feel so welcome and they couldn't do enough for us. The room we stayed in was perfect, really nice and comfortable and well maintained and cleaned. Service at breakfast was spot on and the food was flawless. The manager was so helpful and kind and made us feel so welcome. I can recommend this hotel to everyone, you won't want to leave. Thank you for having us and we will be back in a few weeks to stay again. Xx

Just ok. Hotel in great position for city centre being about 5 minutes walk away. Decor bit tired. Bed was huge and comfy...bathroom good quality... Had to pay full amount of stay upon check in which was unusual. Breakfast offered at £10 each.(no details offered about timings or location of breakfast and nothing in room to inform either).which was good, not massive amount inc 1 mushroom 1/2 tomato 1 sausage 2 eggs 2 bacon 1 hash brown small pot of beans but at least cooked fresh to order. Had to ask for toast...not offered. The hotel lacked warmth and atmosphere which i expected from a boutique hotel...

Nice, modern hotel. Reasonable rates. Stayed over for business as working in Leeds. Wifi wasn't working (which according to guest services happens when the hotel is full) and neither was the phone (which according to guest services happens when there are too many messages). These are pretty fundamental for a modern hotel so unable to award more than three stars

9

Wonderful boutique hotel, we looked around at the usual hotel booking sites, but it was cheaper to book with the hotel direct. We stayed out of season, so the hotel was quiet (although the woman in the room next door was very vocal sexually during the early hours of the morning!).

The room was clean, large with a huge, very comfortable bed. Service was excellent. The hotel bar is very special, stocked with a huge range of specialist Gins in particular but also other spirits, the bartender took the time to explain and recommend various drinks to us.

The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the train station and the centre of Leeds. There is no parking at the hotel, but there are several car multi-stories at the end of the street.

We would definitely use the New Ellington again.

5

A good selection of gins in the bar. Not many tonic waters to chose from though. The ambience is very much hotel lobby without any character. The drinks were okay, but the prices were ludicrous. 3 drinks cost £25. Not quite sure who they think their clientele are, but I certainly won't be back.

Central location 5 minute walk from the train station. Lovely big clean rooms with king size bed. Coffee machine and fridge in the rooms....just what you need from a long day shopping. Helpful and welcoming staff. We loved our stay at the new Ellington and would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Drinks more expensive than expected. No prices available. No cocktail list available. Too bright in drinking area for time of day. Servers were pleasant and had knowledge of their drinks.

Room was very nice, shower and bath functions available, however £20 was taken as a deposit which I feel was unessecary as we were only staying for 2 nights and incurred no extra charges.

Rooms were stunning and were so comfortable. However I gave 3 stars because the service wasn't great. We got charged for a newspaper that never arrived and breakfast was like a scene from Fawlty Towers with our food arriving after 45 minutes only to be the wrong order! No one had any idea what the hell was going on.

Nice hotel, tucked away in a quiet street close to city centre, staff were great and room was smart and clean. Very comfy bed. Didn't stop for the breakfast at £15! Hence losing 1 star. Will certainly stay again.

Stayed at this hotel on Saturday 19th April and must say it was a very nice hotel. Both me and my wife had our birthdays in March and also our wedding anniversary. I rang the hotel a couple of weeks before our visit to book champagne and chocolates as a surprise to my wife but was very disappointed to find on arrival there was nothing in our room. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went out in Leeds for a meal hoping that on our return the requested champagne would be there but yet again it wasn't. I thought i best go ask about this as i did not want to be charged when checking out for something i did not get. The lady on reception said my account was accessed on the date i phoned but nothing was added and therefore my request was not put through. The receptionist told me to leave it with her and i never heard anything from her again. On departure nothing was said, i wasn't charged for but still felt they could've done a lot more to rectify the situation. I still enjoyed the stay but little things like that make a difference.

Comfy, decently priced (our room was £75) hotel - the room was fine, with a nice balcony, cosy bed, flatscreen TV & smallish bath. Service was great and really friendly but the place just doesn't have that much atmosphere - perhaps because it's in the financial district.
