We stayed two nights. Good room and excellent food. Lovely location at the side of a river. Close to East Midlands Airport but we didn't find noise intrusive. Quite isolated so if you want to go anywhere you need to drive or take a taxi. On the other hand very peaceful. We would stay here again.

Beautiful restaurant in picturesque surroundings. Good food and generous portions tastefully arranged.
Item on the menu was unavailable and casually dismissed which I found a little unprofessional. The waiting staff seemed a little disconnected and mechanical. My opinion was that they were poorly trained and could have been more sociable but this is not a bad reflection on them but on the senior staff who should make sure that they are customer focused.
I would certainly return but would hope to see an improvement.

We used this hotel for the convenience of parking near to the airport. Overall, it worked out reasonable but we stayed in the building opposite the river, not in the main house. It is in desperate need of an upgrade. The floor alone was terrible as we moved around. It creaked so much it must have been difficult for the family below to sleep. The staff in reception were friendly. Overall, I felt happier leaving my car there whilst on holiday rather than a airport parking site and it was reasonably priced but if I'd gone there for a few days for a break, I'd be a bit disappointed.

Overall the place has stunning views on the river. The rooms that are not attached to the main hotel are old and have no air conditioning and very small windows this combined with one of the hottest nights of the year meant hardly any sleep due to not being able to breathe. Unfortunately not even a fan was provided during this freakishly hot weather. Meals were nothing to shout home about and whilst I understand that a chicken has to be tied with string I don't expect parts of the string to be served with my dinner. Whilst I did complain about my dinner half of it was refunded so well done to the staff involved. Overall we had a lovely stay just let down by the few small things.

Nice enough place to stay at, but then several months later decided to charge my credit card several times. Upon request they reversed some of the charges but not all, and then refused to talk to me. I eventually had to ask the bank to reverse the charges and fees on my end.

Pretty scenery, but probably not worth the hassle I went through. I would not stay there again, nor would I recommend it to anyone I know. There are other, better accommodations in the area.

Lovely location for a relaxing meal and a drink. Good choice of food. Children's menu available - pasta for child ordered could have been better tasting however our daughter enjoyed it. Friendly staff and good service.

Comfortable, clean, the best most consistent WiFi of many hotels tried recently. Nice well equipped rooms. Excellent "bar food" and breakfast. Lovely setting/location. Tranquil. Rustic.

Polite and well trained staff with personality who care about proper customer service. A beautiful location that is tranquil and calming. Fabulous food that is well presented and cooked to perfection both in the bar restaurant and the a la carte restaurant.

Stayed at the lodge house August of 2017 for a week. Wonderful home in a great setting. Plenty of room and a nice outdoor patio area. Nice walk down the road to the Castle. Not very far from town and about 2 hours north of London. I would happily return.

Nice comfortable room - smallish but perfectly fine. Decent sized/equipped bathroom although couldn't get hot water to shower. Bath tap boiling so just had bath - filled v quick despite being huge! Comfy bed. Nice location right by river Trent. Ten mins drive to airport (v early so no traffic). Decent value with long stay included. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely old building, beautiful views. A lot of stairs so no good for anybody with a pushchair/wheelchair. There is no lift so you'll be confined to the bottom floor. Bar prices aren't ridiculous either for a hotel.

Went for a wedding and stayed overnight, very nice venue and rooms were great. Scenic view of the river added all to the affect. Unfortunately power blew in the area (not their fault) but quite a delay in food as didnt have a quick backup otherwise would have been 5 stars

Mediocre afternoon tea. Quiet afternoon but staff not attentive. No offer of refills for drinks. Nobody around to ask. Food was not of a great standard. Lovely venue.
Probably won't go back for afternoon tea although I had a nice cream tea a couple of years ago. Not sure if management have changed.

5

A lovely venue, I only went at night but I imagine the surrounding area is stunning.
We went for a preset meal as a group. I had the vegetarian main which was greasy and bland. Home made pastry was good though. I had to wait for ages for it to come out, by which time everyone else who was politely waiting watched their food go cold.
Drinks are expensive as you would expect but not astronomical. Bar service is very slow, some of the staff were struggling with the POS.
Staff were reasonably friendly but not overly.
The place has a lot of potential

Setting very pretty and idyllic location
Restaurant clean tidy and recently refurbished I believe.
Onto the dining experience
Ordered wine - ran out of that wine, sorry
Ordered gin and tonic - ran out of that gin, sorry
Sorry we are waiting for glasses to come in- served in a soft drink glass
Food - soup good - main meal acceptable but nothing amazing - don’t think the meat was freshly carved
Sweet- ordinary to be honest, nothing amazing either, very dry and bland
Price - reasonable I guess - well for two with drinks it was £40
And I just think there’s better value to be had for that money elsewhere
Shalln’t bother again I don’t think, sorry

Did not warn me that my room was next to a party, but good enough to move me. Rooms are nice, but the whole place (particularly the external cottages) could do with a lick of paint. The chap who has been there 6 years working nights should be promoted. Excellent customer relations and makes a mean espresso.

This is a charming hotel in a Riverside location around 5 minutes drive from the village of Castle Donnington. The executive rooms in the main building are well equipped and presented and the breakfast is very good. A good location from which to visit the many stately homes and other tourist destinations. The Castle Donnington raceway and museum is also close.

Disappointed overrall.
The location and hotel grounds are absolutely beautiful and the weddning facilities were spectacular.
However, the room was very underwhelming. I stayed for two nights and voiced my concerns the first night of how my room was missing various items that were stated upon the booking. I was told the manager would get in contact in the morning to resolve the issue. After hearing nothing , I made another
Complaint the following and upon checkout received a business card for
The manager to voice my concerns to them instead.
After making a list in my room about things that were missing, I was also left a sarcastic response on a piece of
Paper by housekeeping trying to answer what they thought was a note for them.
For the money being paid these things shouldn't be an issue. As forementioned very disappointed

Went for a coffee with family. It's all about the location, right on the banks of the River Trent with a lovely old building. Take the location away and other places seem better on the inside like Coopers Arms in Weston on Trent, Yew Tree Lodge in Kegworth and John Thompson in Ingleby.

I went as part of a family wedding and although at a first glance it seemed pretty and classic...i was quite disappointed. The staff were somewhat not well trained in professionalism...i asked for a Coke to drink and was handed a flat Pepsi poured from a bottle they bought from the local Co-Op and when I questioned what they were doing they said their machine had an engineer fixing it...yet I was still charged full price. It's very dusty and not all the rooms have air-conditioning. Overall we had a lovely ceremony, but I wouldn't stay again or recommend it.

Booked through "Secret Escapes" we had a lovely one night stay which was great value. The room was nice (thou view was not great), dinner choices were good, as was breakfast. Service from all members of staff we encountered was faultless. I would definitely return should the deal become available again.

We went for afternoon tea. The hotel is in a nice setting and the bar/restaurant area is pleasant. We were offered a wide selection of teas. The food was good quality (great jam with the scones!) and the selection of seasonal cakes was a nice touch.

Attended a Wedding. Staff were great, very professional but also would make sure everything was in place. Drinks prices a little expensive, kids menu a bit unusual, but high quality food throughout the stay (from the bar and for the wedding breakfast). An enjoyable stay.

I've never stayed here, but, we regularly eat here and it's great, particularly if you can eat outside. The food is delicious, service distinctly average, but the ambience, location and quality of the food make it worth the trip

Stayed here a few times, and attended a few weddings.
Such a lovely venue, Rooms are top notch and well designed and decorated.
Food is amazing. Staff are friendly and helpful.
If you want a luxury 1 night away, look no further.
Just be careful in wet season and when there is a wedding on some rooms are more basic than others and the luxury ones get taken up quickly.

Went just for pre-booked afternoon tea - nice welcome by staff, and by the time we got in the tea room we were greeted by name, although I hadn't given it at the main reception. Good choice of teas shown to us first, and served with an intriguing triple "egg-timer" in shades of white, green and black to match category of tea. Four flavours of sandwiches, well filled. Scones slightly overdone, they tried to hide this with a sprinkling of icing sugar, which is not a traditional topping for scones. Good tasting mixed berries jam (but no spoon), very generous amount of cream (again no spoon). Cakes on top tier slightly stodgy and all the same shape and clarty consistency - Bakewell tart, chocolate brownie and I think hazlenut something. Could have done with lightening by a small meringue or strawberry tart or something similar. Do send your chef down to Fortnum & Mason to get some tips!

Teapots re-filled on request. Would happily go again.

Claire arranged a private room for 22 adults and 12 children for Sunday lunch to celebrate my son's 40th birthday. There were a few trivial problems with the booking because some people were coming from a distance and I was away on holiday, but everything went well on the day. The room was ideal and the food was excellent, although quantity probably too much for some of the little ones. Service was satisfactory given the number of meals and different choices. We had a lot of compliments for choosing such a nice venue. It's a beautiful setting and we will certainly use The Priest House again. Many thanks for an enjoyable day.

While appearance and services are excellent this is not the place to go if you are on a budget bar prices being extremely high if bar prices were halved they would still be high but would be more acceptable
