My bird surprised me with tea at the Ritz for my 21st. It was boss. The best scones I ever tasted and the ham butties melted in my mouth. The staff were sound and gave me directions to The Weatherspoons so I could have a bevie after the butties and cakes had gone down. Probably won't be back for a while cos I'm skint

Fantastic service great tea brilliant experience, only negative is that we felt a little rushed but that did not diminish the positive experience. I would recommend it and will go again. I asked for a birthday cake for my wife and it was great a trifle small but no problem at all. The surroundings are opulent, traditional and classy it's a perfect place to impress.

What can I say, The Ritz was truly amazing. Anyone who complains about the dress code obviously didn't look into it. It is made quite clear what is appropriate and what isn't. It is obviously a very classy place with extremely high standards. We were made to feel very welcome and the service was of a very high standard. Considering how well known it is I honestly did not feel the prices were that high at all. It was an extraordinary experience.

I spent two hours in the most magnificent, wonderful room, being marvellously looked after by a team of the smartest, politest most gracious waiters you could ever come across. The atmosphere was one of excitement and anticipation of what we were to be served. The tea was absolutely gorgeous. I had requested a few slight changes over the phone to a delightful young man named James Hayes training through your Academy, who had obviously passed on all the information to the appropriate person. What a lovely pleasant young man to speak to, with I hope an excellent future with you.I was also extremely impressed with the Maitre De, in charge of all the teas, plus the ordering. What a lot we both learnt .He looked after our teas introducing us to some gorgeous flavours Altogether it was the most memorable first visit of what I hope will be many more. It was worth the two hours travelling to reach you and I thank the chefs, pianist, and everybody envolved.

Amazing service, amazing room (junior suite) it's the small things that they get right which makes your stay extra special. A complimentary birthday cake waiting upon arrival was a nice touch. The staff were fantastic from the porters to the reception/lobby staff, to the restaurant staff. All very friendly. All in all, we had an incredible experience.

Brilliant location, right in the heart of everything. The staff are amazingly helpful and can provide advice and tickets to local tours easily. The room is perfect, always cleaned to the highest standard and a beautiful layout that makes you feel comfortable at home.

We went for afternoon tea to celebrate a lovely woman's 30th birthday. The food was plentiful and delicious, but the fact that leftover food can't be taken home feels like a real waste. I'm sure there's some technical health and safety reason, but it feels wasteful and considering it was paid for it also feels a little mean. Wait until you go, then you'll understand. Lovely firm padding in the seats was a nice surprise and a pleasant plus though.

Afternoon tea is a lovely experience...and very filling! Spectacular surroundings and great service. People moaning about not being able to take a doggy bag really don't get it...and if you're not full after 2 hours then you are being greedy.

I have been staying at this hotel for many decades. It always is top notch. It is located right next to Green Park and its tube station on Picadilly. Buckingham Palace is a pleasant walk across the part. The only negative is that when you walk out of the hotel you are on a busy sidewalk. The rooms and staff are outstanding.

I am a former club member in puerto rico and I had a centurion amex. I just wanna see what is the main ritz in London, but when I enter ,The manager comes towards me and ask me to leave. Even the ritz PR is the one of rare 4stars, but they treat me as a king. I really love the place anyway.

Excellent afternoon tea. I've been to a bunch of afternoon tea in London (not sure how to pluralise that one...) and this is a solid winner. They've kept all the pomp and ceremony you would expect from The Ritz and that's all for the better. Definitely dress for it. That my main advice. It's fancy and if you don't you'll probably feel silly. It is pricey, but it's definitely one to do once or twice!

We enjoyed a wonderful Afternoon Tea yesterday. Treated to a glass of champagne since it was Christmas. I had the gluten-free option on the food and you would never have known, it's treated as an equal option not an after-thought. Well looked after by the waiters who had a lovely sense of humour.

Unsurprisingly exceptional food and service - menu and wines thoroughly explained and recommended, with all allergy issues on our table catered for with alternative suggestions. Surprisingly good portions to boot. Naturally the only issue is the cost but few places in London match the almost anachronistic theatricality of the Ritz so what can you expect!

We stayed at the weekend to celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary and our birthdays. This was a wonderful surprise present from our family. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience thank you. With special thanks to Antonella, the Guest Liaison, she was lovely and so helpful. The extra touches were amazing, such as the celebration cake presented to us in the dining room. Our evening meal was delayed but the waiter did apologise for this and gave us champagne which was so nice. When we returned to our room the bed had been turned down and was decorated with petals, so lovely. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff all so friendly. They clearly enjoy working in such an amazing hotel. We would love to return to enjoy the afternoon tea on another special occasion. Thank you.

The Ritz is full on formal swankiness, waiters in tails and a frankly stunning dining room in a Versailles kind of a way. The casino is also beautiful with excellent dining facilities. The staff were very friendly and seemed happy to be there and more than happy to help in any way.

This magnificent property is among the vanishing vistas of grace, style, and hospitality. Forget breakfast reviews for London eateries; if you want to genuinely relish quality and luxury there is no finer venue in the UK. Arrive very early to secure a coveted window seat and don't forget to leave an appropriate gratuity for the fine gentleman and ladies who serve you. Fr B+

This place is just over the top. In order to get further access past the front desk, you need to be dressed semi formally, according to what the bellmen told me. Very courteous and have no problem with you taking a look around.

Best hotel in the world ! There are a minimum of 71 Five Star hotels in London. To my knowledge only the The Ritz has a dress code, ergo if you can't dress appropriately go to one of the other 70 ... please.

Afternoon tea was a sublime experience in a stunning setting with flawless service. Could not fault the staff, atmosphere or generous supply of delectable classic treats. Found the staff from servers to doormen to restroom attendants all provided service with a smile and before you even had to ask. Truly professional, welcoming and magical.

Though I had an enjoyable experience overall for the afternoon tea, I must say the level of professionalism expected from servers was disappointing. The tea was not timed right when it was poured for the first time, and one of the servers basically dropped utensils instead of placing them on the table. Lacking such attention to detail makes the difference between good and excellent.

Don't eat breakfast - you'll need the room. The food here was outstanding and the service was exceptional. We had afternoon tea and you are provided with enough food to feed troops returning from 6 months of active duty. Despite the generous quantity of food, the quality was superb. Delicious sandwiches and sweet treats to tempt even the saltiest of savoury fanatics to the dark side. If you're even thinking of going, you should.

Our Daughter treated us to tea at the Ritz and what a fantastic experience it was, from the warm greeting at the door to the level of service delivered throughout it really makes for a very special day. We were heading to a theatre show so couldn't stay the full hour and 3/4 but this didn't detract as the service was prompt. Recommend a visit you won't be disappointed.

I've attended an afternoon tea in the Palm Court. It has been a very nice experience. Delicious sandwiches, scones and mini cakes. Tea served in traditional silverware. It was well set up. Service was very good and professional. The Palm Court was gorgeous with fresh flower decorations.

Popped in for drinks at the bar. The cocktail menu was divine with some very interesting twists in some classic cocktails. The decor was stunning but the highlight if our visit must be the pink ladies washrooms. Service was excellent. Wouldn't expect any less from the Ritz.

Went for afternoon tea at The Ritz as a treat for my girlfriend's Mum who is visiting from Australia. We had a great experience, the staff were attentive and made us feel welcome and comfortable. The surroundings of the Palm Court are grand and certainly enhance the occasion. There's a wide selection of teas to choose from, lovely sandwiches, warm scones on demand, delicate pastries and brilliant cakes on offer. For a special occasion I cannot recommend The Ritz highly enough.

We had afternoon tea at The Ritz, and it was a wonderful! The food was tasty, the service impeccable, and the decor absolutely stunning. There was also line piano music, which added to the elegant atmosphere. It was definitely a highlight of our vacation in London. You do need to make reservations fairly far in advance--at least a couple weeks.

Afternoon tea at the Ritz, what more can a girl want. Let them know it was my mother's birthday and so they came out at the end with a birthday cake for her and the pianist played happy birthday. It was delightful. Would return and would recommend.

This is an external review from an architectural perspective as we sell property. This building looks older than it is due to some clever improvisation in 1906. It was built after the Paris Ritz and the only thing lacking is a grand entrance. It's presence on Piccadilly blends beautifully with the other great houses.

We went for afternoon tea yesterday. I knew it would be lovely but it was even better than expected. Delicious sandwiches, cakes, scones and lashings of clotted cream. So many different teas to choose from too. Staff were fantastic. A really super treat.

I went for afternoon tea with my partner on a really hot day. The air con isn't the best and men have to wear a jacket and tie, which somewhat ruined the experience as it was so warm! (Many women were in t-shirts and camisole tops, so it seemed unfair that men have such a strict dress code!) The waiters were attentive and the food was really nice. Overall a good experience, but not the best! Nice overall

It's probably one of the most famous places in the world to enjoy a drink. If you are drawn by that then you should go. The staff and service are as excellent as you would imagine, as is the people watching. The bar itself is small but sublimly ornate. Is it one of the best places in London to enjoy a drink? - maybe. I think other places offer a more intimate atmosphere.

Wow! Thought I would feel somewhat out of place at a venue like this but everyone put us at ease. Waiters were phenomenal and really made it the experience special as there were "no stupid questions". No snobbery at all, tremendous experience with tremendous food and phenomenal service!

The Ritz is one of the most popular five star hotels in central London and is an historical icon of the city. I don't feel that you get value for money here and I also feel that there are better hotels offering more for your money. The hotel is famous for afternoon tea however you need to book this at least 6 months in advance, and be prepared to take a sitting at 19:30 in the evening as day time slots are like gold dust. There is also a strict dress code for afternoon tea so make sure you read up so as not to be turned away. Afternoon tea is average with little care taken in presentation and the main focus being on catering to as many covers as possible. The cost for afternoon tea is a lot higher that most of its closest competitors and the standard is lower that most too. If you're looking for a decent hotel or a lovely traditional afternoon tea experience, there are better places to go for much less. One positive is the staff, they're attentive and very helpful.

So we arrive at the appointed time and are shown to our table.....facing out at the other tea guests....not facing each other. We adjust our seating and rearrange the crockery etc on the table to make a more pleasing and practical layout. The standard afternoon tea ritual is completed and the pianist strikes up happy birthday, at which time small individual iced cakes with a single candle are presented to all guests who have registered their birthday. My wife has a similar cake presented in respect of a different celebration. We are replete without space for more food so ask if the cakes we have not eaten, along with the iced cake can be 'doggy bagged' for us to take home. NO! is the answer to the individual cakes as they are made with fresh cream and would need a refrigerated box.....the iced cake is OK to be taken home. Disappointed we leave and take the boxed ( not refrigerated) iced cake home. After a light supper we cut the iced cake only to find the filling is soft fruit and...............have you've guessed it? Fresh cream!! Not sure how this squares with the house rule of not being able to take uneaten, paid for cakes away without a refrigated box as they are made with fresh cream. My advice... try one of the other exemplary afternoon tea providers at London hotels or, if you must go to the Ritz, take a refrigerated box if you can't eat all the cakes included in the price.

I surprised my wife for her 30th birthday to a trip to London for three nights, she guessed we were going to London, but I was able to keep it secret for 3months! What she didn't expect however, was that we were staying at possibly the best hotel in the world! From the moment we stepped up to the front door the service was outstanding, very welcoming and friendly staff took our bags and ushered us kindly to the reception desk where we could check in. The girls behind the desk were so lovely and they asked what had brought us to London, I told them about the surprise for my wife's birthday (who was still laughing in shock) and a couple of the girls disappeared for a few moments and on their return had presented my wife with a small present form the hotel, this blew me away! Although we had arrived at 10am I knew we couldn't check in until 2pm (as is the same for most hotels) so they kindly kept our bags (no charge to my delight) until our room was ready. Yet again they blew me away by offering us breakfast free of charge for the morning! I hadn't booked the breakfast as I had just saved enough for the room only, (this isn't the kind of hotel I could afford all the time lol ) so they offered me to sign up for the "leaders club" which earned us the continental breakfast free for our stay, yet again you could imagine how pleased I was at this. We hadn't even checked into our room yet and already I knew this place was special. When we were ready to go to our room we were taken on a tour of the hotel and brought to the room by a lovely girl called Tara (sorry if I got the spelling wrong). The room was beautiful and the hotel had even delivered a birthday cake for my wife upon our arrival to the room, everything about this place is perfect and if we could stay here every time we would. We didn't get to enjoy the bar or evening meals as yet again, my budget didn't stretch that far, but I can clearly say without doubt this is the best hotel experience I have ever had and gladly give The Ritz London 5 stars for everything! Thank you very much for amazing memories guys and hope to see you again!

My wife and I went to the Ritz off high tea. I was skeptical as she arranged everything and honestly wasn't too excited to sit around and drink tea. It was actually a lot better than I thought. The tea was very good. They had about 15 or so different options including decaffeinated teas for my pregnant wife. The sandwiches, desserts, and scones were all unlimited and delicious. The service was fantastic. I have only compliments to give and would gladly go again.

Beautiful iconic hotel not many words is the best way to describe this place, one needs to go there, even if it's just for a drink. I've dined there and it was one of the most best dining experiences. The afternoon tea was superb in lush settings, but you need to book well in advance. I would definitely recommend. Pricey but we'll worth the treat whatever you do there.

This is a solely a review of Afternoon Tea in the Palm Court. The experience was a premium event from start to finish, and the staff were really great. Friendly and helpful, and not remotely stuffy. The food and tea was plentiful. Not something you'd find great value week after week, but as an occasional treat it's a fabulous couple of hours.

Had The Ritz 110 cocktail which they serve and then place a sugar cube to activate the fizz again, then had afternoon tea which was an exceptional experience; delicate finger sandwiches and small individual cakes and macaroons. Warm scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, followed by more cake and washed down with loose leaf tea of your choice, there is a menu for tea. At £54 per person you are paying for the experience and the beautiful art deco surroundings. Not you're everyday afternoon tea, but definitely worth it for the experience.

I have been most happily staying at the Ritz for over 40 years with my late wife, and this year I brought my daughter, son in law and two eldest grandchildren. The service was superb as usual, all of the staff from the most cheerful and helpful doorman, management, waiters, right through to room service. I cannot recommend this hotel with higher praise, I will never willingly stay anywhere in else when in town. The snow falling across the restaurant windows as we enjoyed our breakfast on Sunday was simply magical, and the food and service divine, as always. I have stayed in the finest 5 star hotels throughout Europe, most fortunately, all of my professional life, and nothing,...simply nothing, compares to the Ritz of London!! Christmas Eve afternoon tea at the Ritz was amazing. We had 13:30 reservation & were finished by 15:00. A selection of plain & fruit scones with clotted cream & jam. Cakes & macaroons were lovely. Sandwiches were beautiful with tomato bread filled with cheese & pickle being my favourite.
