Certifications

Green Key Eco-Rating Program 4

With more than 1,200 hotels certified in Canada since its inception in the 1990s, the Green Key Eco-Rating Program awards hotels an environmental rating of one to five Green Keys. Green Key members are then given guidance on how to "unlock" opportunities to reduce operating costs and environmental impacts - and in turn earn more keys.

The Green Key audit looks at nine major areas of sustainable hotel operations:
• Energy conservation
• Water conservation
• Solid waste management
• Hazardous waste management
• Indoor air quality
• Community outreach
• Building infrastructure
• Land use
• Environmental management

Green Tourism Gold

Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) is the national sustainable tourism certification scheme for the UK. Businesses are assessed by a qualified grading advisor against rigorous criteria in areas like:

• Energy and water efficiency
• Waste management
• Biodiversity

WWF

WWF aims to build a future where human needs are met in harmony with nature.

It is focused around 6 ambitious goals with people at the center:
WWF's work has evolved from saving species and landscapes to addressing the larger global threats and forces that impact them. Recognizing that the problems facing our planet are increasingly more complex and urgent. The new strategy puts people at the center and organizes our work around six key areas: forests, marine, freshwater, wildlife, food and climate. By linking these six areas in an integrated approach, WWF can direct all resources to protecting vulnerable places, species and communities worldwide.

People are at the center because together we can change the trajectory of the threats to nature, and help ensure nature's ability to provide - for the sake of every living thing, including ourselves. To accomplish goals, WWF works to educate and influence people into making sustainable choices and decisions, including those who work in business and make decisions around the use of natural resources, and those who work in government and set policy that impacts nature.

Beautiful hotel, I would definately recommend a stay. The staff are extremely friendly and always very helpful. The surroundings are stunning and to a high quality. The bars and restaurants had that relaxing vibe and the food was very good indeed, I specially like the tea shop where you can have teas and cakes. the pool and spa areas are definitely worth a visit, the ambience is very relaxing. I will be back!

How can you give it less than 5 stars? This is an Art Deco palace which just oozes style sophistication. No wonder anyone who's anyone has stayed at the Savoy. I have yet to cross that off my wish list but going to its theatre at least offers a glimpse of the glamour of the hotel. Puts all the others in the shade.

Afternoon Tea Review: Nice to experience a traditional afternoon tea in London. The atmosphere was pleasant. We booked approximately one month in advance. We were told on arrival (at 1.45pm) that we would need to leave at 3.15pm so the table could be prepared for the next customers. Unfortunately, staff kept reminding us of this for our last 30 minutes, and this made us feel rushed. Otherwise, the service was good. The tea was lovely. The food was a letdown - the cakes/pastries were good, but not amazing. The scones were nice, although the cream was slightly over-beaten if you were being fussy. The sandwiches had the potential to be really nice, but they weren't fresh! The bread was dry and crusty. For £65 per person (excluding champagne), we expected fresh sandwiches, so this really let down the entire experience. Overall, 2.5 out of 5.
