service second to none, food was very good to amazing. Grounds are impeccable. A great place to relax and enjoy your loved one. Hana life is relaxing, lots of respect and love. Will def go back again and again. If its pampering, relaxing and privacy that you are looking for, this is the place and the area. Mahalo for such a great time. Also, Gabriel at the pool bar is the essence of Hana along with CJ playing his Ukulele at the restaurant bar is amazing ambiance.

Excellent food. But the hotel is way over priced. If you want a great place to stay across the street is a place called Aloha cottages. It’s run by a beautiful 92 year old lady. It doesn’t have internet but I was able to pay the Nextdoor neighbors $10 for the week.

The location of the Preserve Restaurant which is not on any sign. Park across the street, walk through the lobby to the back of the hotel to the Preserve. Good choice for lunch in Hana.

I've been to lots of nice places. This is the nicest. You walk in,and no TV and no ac. That's when you know you're in for something different, like 24 he heated pools and a game room with baskets of golf clubs, ping pong paddles, tennis rackets, and balls of every kind to keep you entertained. Only regret is not getting the cliffside bungalows for $250 more instead.

An old school resort in an incredible location. Yes, a few things don't quite work and you shouldn't expect the feel of a luxury resort here. But the scenery is lovely there is a special feel to both Hana and the resort.

Best place to eat locally if you have a large family. Our waiter was very accommodating and helpful when we requested joining families together at 1 large table. The service was 5 star. The ambiance was open and airy. The exterior glass wall was made of glass panels which were slid open leaving the entire beach view open to the restaurant. Very unique feature of the restaurant.

If you have the opportunity to travel the Road to Hana then you might have the chance to stay in Hana and stay at the Travaasa Hotel. This is an exceptional place to stay with restaurants, a pitch and putt, vast well-kept lawns and a huge tree dominant the Amazing locale. Lots of activities including yoga, net fishing, stand up paddle board and more. Expensive but how often do you have the chance to visit Hana?

Very nice... but worth the price? Eh probably not. You are paying partially for the spacious room. Huge bathroom, bedroom, dining room, and outdoor patio. It was like luxurious camping: no TV, no AC, natural decor. Some of the features are a little outdated though like the faucets the bathroom. My husband was not comfortable leaving only the screen doors opened which resulted in the room being very stuffy and hot. Also the windows in the bedroom let people outside have a great view of you in the bedroom, which was annoying. Pool area was also pretty plain and underwhelming. Just a regular rectangle tile pool with some fake wicker chairs around it. I would stay again though... if the price per night was reduced.

A gem inside the Hana! This place has deep Hawaiian hystory, majestic views and the grounds well taken care off. Room was big enough to throw party in, but don't expect the party out here, this is large resort with very mellow and quiet vibe. It is great place to just relax, enjoy beauty, listen to breeze or the cows in the distance, or who knows you might make a new celebraty friend out here.

If you visit Maui and want to escape crowded resorts and into lush tropical paradise, come to Hana and stay here for few days, you'll love it.

Jacuzzi and pool is open 24 hours unless they do maintenance during night hours. There is plenty of foodie experience in and around the Travaasa, and stuff is super friendly. You'll meet some of the finest Hawaiian people on the planet out in Hana!

This is definitely a first class Hotel!! Starting with the valet is so welcoming! After long drive or short flight so nice to have fresh fruity glass of ice cold water on arrival. Usually no wait to check in or get information on local activities on the awesome concierge service they have! The hotel is all open air and they provide transportation to your bungalow which is a bonus to ask questions with your local guide. I provided pictures of a favorite restaurant for Thai food in walking distance. Also the local Hana bay where they usually have many fun activities.

If anyone is looking for great deals on hotels go to HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around...

I loved all aspects of the Travaasa Hana. The spa experience is first rate-thanks to Lamuel for the best hit stone massage and the clean facilities- plunge pool, sauna and outdoor shower were perfect, The on site restaurant had great food, enough variety on their breakfast/lunch and dinner menu to satisfy and exceed expectations for the week we were in a bungalow...,which was ocean front, very relaxing and clean with housekeeping replenishing water and coffee daily and linens as needed. The staff were all first rate individuals who were a refreshing blend of professionals and aloha. They made us feel special.

Just had my friends wedding there, really nice hotel, highly recommended. Room space is large, all other facilities make your stay cozy. They also have a lot of culture lessons everyday, like ukulele classes, which helps you learn more about Hawaii and maui.

Fabulous accommodations and excellent service. But not a place for everyone...only come if you enjoy peace and quiet and can entertain yourself without a lot of the noise and distractions of a more touristy area. Definitely a great place for outdoor enthusiasts bc it's a great launching pad for some off the beaten path hikes and sites, but you're subject to the weather and unfortunately we had constant rain during our stay. Stop at Costco/Target on the way to Hana to stock your room with breakfast items, heavy snacks and booze; not a lot of options once in Hana.

Hana is a special town and the location of this hotel is perfect. The grounds are lovely and the rooms recently have been updated. We got in late and left early so didn't get to enjoy the amenities. Our room had a critter hiding out in the roof that was very loud. The hotel was nice about it and moved us to another room, but it took them a while to handle the situation and get us a new room. Which would have been fine in the evening, but it was late and we were exhausted. There were cockroaches in both of our rooms, which might be common given the climate. And the bathtub in our second room had clumps of hair in it, like it hadn't been properly cleaned.

It was the only real restaurant that was open by the time we got to Hana so we didn't really have a lot of choice. However it was a great choice we had delicious food, wonderful server and an amazing view. The Catch of the Day was so fresh and tastefully prepared.

Magical retreat at the end of an amazing drive on the road to Hana. We stayed in an ocean front beach cottage with amazing views. This really is one of the most beautiful places in the world. And we had service to match the beauty. Sadly we also had weird lapses in service. I still highly recommended as a destination. But be willing to go with the flow.

This place is a must. The road to Hana should be done and can't be done well in a day. Better to drive there slowly, stop here for the night and enjoy yourself in the way back. You can book ahead online, or if you are feeling lucky and it looks like they have rooms, just walk in for better rates. Restaurant is exceptional and does gluten free well. The pool and hot tub are in a lovely setting. My wife was blown away by the spa. I will come back here!

Very comfortable! The rooms are kept extremely well. There are a lot of activities to do all over the resort. It is as close to the feeling of sleeping under the stars with a comfortable bed and a nice roof over your head. It is a great place to take a break after the long and beautiful road to Hana.

This is the quintessential definition of a getaway vacation. Located in secluded Hana on the east side of Maui, Travaasa has everything you could imagine for a resort located in what feels like a forgotten landscape. The views of the bay are breathtaking and on clear days you can see Mauna Kea nearly perfectly (with a monocular you can even see the observatory at the apex. Beyond the location, Travaasa offers a plethora of local fare in two restaurants, an infinity pool, jacuzzi, a pool/bar combination and individual bungalows with oceanfront views. The customer service is the epitome of mahalo, with every attendant always eager to please and ensure you have an amazing stay. There is a no tipping policy, which ensures no awkward moments in case cash isn’t readily available (mind that the restaurants on site still honor a tipping policy, but this can be credited to your room). Definitely will come back. I mean, it’s 2 PM and there are only two couples at the pool. Privacy galore!

I felt my breath soften and the stress run off me like water as I walked to our room across their beautiful lawn. A quick change under the ceiling fan and I was ready for the pool. This pool! Pretty much forgot my own name after floating around in this infinity pool sorounded by pleasing landscape and a view of the ocean. Travaasa is the big reward on the road to Hana!

We ate here earlier this evening and had a great experience all around--the restaurant is beautiful, clean, and overlooks the ocean. Our server, Alex, was friendly and knowledgeable and really made our meal into a relaxing and enjoyable experience. For dinner, my boyfriend got the porkchop and I got the grilled mahi. Both were executed perfectly--large portions and well balanced. We topped it off with some vegan coconut ice cream, which was some of the best ice cream we've ever tasted..it was all SO good! Neither of us had one complaint and can't wait to come back the next time we're in Hana😍

This was our favorite hotel out of the 3 Hawaiian islands we've visited. The restaurant was excellent, the spa was amazing, and walking through the town was even a remote experience. This, we described, was teh end of the universe. Quietude at its best.
I run a business, so I'm always thinking of anything/everything. I was walking through the resort lawn and gardens, and took a deep breath, and realized for the first time, that I wasn't thinking...about anything...I was truly on vacation at that point.
We did the oceanside suite, but even the garden suites would be amazing. It's a slow life there, and 3-5 days is plenty enough to fully relax there.

The ambiance us nice but there is a big draw back, NO AIR CONDITIONING! Paying $600 a night and no a/c was disappointing. The pools and hot tub was nice and the expansive grounds were pretty. Staff was fine as well. I recommend trying Surfing Burro for breakfast burritos and iced coffee while you are there.

I can't say enough good things! The place is hands down, no questions asked, amazingly gorgeous if you're willing to drive the road to Hana. The staff is outstandingly nice. There is so much to do at the resort and within a short distance, it's insane. My husband and I stayed in an ocean bungalow to celebrate our 5th year of marriage and our first real vacation together. The accommodations are top notch. If I can ever make it back, there's no place I'd rather be!

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best prices around...

Loved this place! Seriously romantic getaway place! The 'do what you want as long as you're quiet' after 10 PM rule is much appreciated; we arrive late and would not have been able to enjoy all the amenities otherwise. We were able to enjoy the pool and the hot tub under the moonlight, which was amazing. We also enjoyed every bit of the beautiful room.

The food at the restaurant was incredible, but slightly pricey for the portions. The only reason that I could not give this place five stars is because I feel that for the price, more should be given... possibly free drinks at the restaurant, or an appetizer or breakfast served to your room... any of those small upgrades would make it worth 5 stars. They do give a loaf of banana bread however we could not enjoy it because ants had crawled up the table and gotten into it by the morning.

Right near red sand beach and all the other things Hana has to offer. Hana bay, the national park - 7 pools and pipiwai trail, and even black sand beach isn't too far away. Its a beautiful place to stay when you are visiting Maui.

Excellent ambiance. Great service and very accommodating to our party of 7. Delicious food but small portions for the price. My ahi tuna came out well done when requested and suggested medium rare, but they gave me a new plate and comped it. My score is not affected by the tuna. We waited a long time for food on a relatively quiet night. Fine dining made moreso for tourists. Go to Hana Ranch for a better view, food, and Hana experience.

Ate in the lounge. Food and drinks are all pretty good, particularly liked the Ramen dish, cucumber cocktail, tapioca dessert and passion fruit cheesecake. Portion sizes are fairly large for appetizers and main entrees. Prices are fairly high, as others have noted ($15 and up for appetizers, $20- $50+ for entrees), although it's understandable, as Hana is a relatively remote part of Maui and the Ranch Restaurant is generally the only other place in town that is open for dinner.

3 night stay - lovely location - peaceful. Breakfast in dining room was poor experience 2 ⭐️ - rude service/attitude - food tasty enough. However, service put us off going for dinner - not a fan of $50 entrees with unfriendly/bad service.
Good size room - somewhat dated - poor wifi connection - not password protected - so groups of tourists "in the know" would linger close by for hours on their devices (hence poor connection?)

This is a review for the restaurant only, I can't speak to the hotel.

The restaurant at Travaasa provides good food, for a Maui price. The caprese salad and the scallops were both very good. The scallops were definitely above average, and were perfectly cooked with a very pleasant vegetable medley. The service was on par with any nice resort restaurant. I would honestly say this place is very similar to Mamma's Fish House in terms of food quality and price. Ignore open table for reservations, there were no spots on OT, but we called and got whatever time we wanted, and there were plenty of open spots throughout the night. I definitely won't remember this meal as a highlight, but it was a nice way to relax after a busy day on the road to Hana.

Summary: Good service, decent food with a higher pricetag on par with any nice restaurant on Maui

Fantastic location away from all the business that has become many of the islands of Hawaii. Very quiet, and loaded with amazing amenities. So many scenic areas very near the property, all worth the effort to explore. Have a look at some of my photos to get an idea of what is in the area.

Loved every second of our vacation. Very comfortable, spacious rooms. Daily restocking of room amenities during a very methodical, quick cleaning visit, usually during our breakfast period. Lovely, well maintained grounds (both out and indoors) by very competent stuff who is approachable, kind and eager to assist. On our way out the door (very sadly, if I may say so), we have scheduled our next visit for Xmas. Can't wait!
P.S. I have dietary restrictions which I presented to the chef. I was offered a very pleasant dining experience in spite of them. My wife "LOVED the food"!!

We stayed at Travaasa Hana for one week and it went by so fast like a dream. The place was so peaceful and relaxing yet there were plenty of things to do for our three active high/middle schoolers. I am surprised that they don't advertise it enough but I recommend totally utilizing the resort's activity center. You can check out most of the gears and equipments such as snorkeling gears, boogie boards and bikes as well as activities such as pole fishings and net fishings on complementary. All of the guys at the activity center, Doug, Kepa and Lany were awesome and helpful. We usually don't want to visit the same places again, but we will definitely be going back soon.

The snapper (lehi), fish soup were tasty, but the portions are small. The macadamia nut ice cream was delicious. Call early to reserve a table overlooking the ocean, at a table next to the floor the ceiling windows. Live Hawaiian band and hula dancer on some nights provide a very relaxing atmosphere.

We started our experience in Travaasa Hotel Hana with the wrong foot when checking in. We had booked a prepaid plan but the hotel insisted in charging us extra fees:
- 15% service fee over the face value (they had added it in small print)
- extra $56 fee if there's a second person in the room

Because we had booked via an internet 3rd party, the hotel didn't want to know anything about it. We asked to talk with the manager to try to reason with him and waive at least the second person fee (clause absent in our printed contract), but he gave us the cold shoulder. At that time all Hana hotels and B&Bs were booked because of a local event, and he knew they were our only alternative to sleeping in the car.

What bothered me was the attitude of the staff and manager. They acknowledged that these hidden fees were a frequent problem but they would just raise their shoulders when we asked them to please change it for future guests.

In short, I would expect the behavior they had from a 1,2 star hotel, but never from such an expensive and supposedly high class resort.

After paying the extra fees, we walked to our houses only to find out that one of them was apart, and the other two had a wall in between (they could have at the very least let us know when we did the reservation, and we had time to change places).

Beware of the room unusual configuration: no A/C, no TV (they use ceiling fans), no cell phone coverage, no internet in the rooms (only in the lobby), and the telephone is in the toilet (was the only one ringing when they called me from other room).

Being a place close to nature, there has to be a problem with insects and they should know about. We found a dead cockroach in the morning next to our bathroom sink, my guess being that they somehow try to control the pests in the hotel without total success. My friends found a cane spider in their shower, so I guess finding bugs is normal there. Just be aware :)

Besides all the above, the place was ok. But definitely too expensive for just a sleepover like it was our case.
