Booked at around 10:20pm for the same night. We got there at about 12. We had a single room but the bed was king size. Small room but very clean, cozy and comfortable. room had a microwave and a small fridge, a coffeemaker with all you need to enjoy a good coffee. Their breakfast is very simple: fruits, English muffins and you can choose butter, peanut butter or jelly to put on them, granola bars, tea, hot cocoa and coffee. Enough to start your day and very good for the price. We paid a total of $170 including taxes and a $10 fee because we brought our small dog with us. Not sure how close we were from the beach but for sure not walking distance. City looked beautiful in the morning.

The room itself was a decent size, definitely good for the price. The area the motel is in is a bit dodgy so it didn't feel particularly safe to walk around at night. We ate at the café on the premises and it was decent. The pool we ended up not swimming in because it was overcrowded and dirty. The continental breakfast is literally coffee/tea and pastries with a small amount of fruit. There is also no place to sit so it is very much "grab-and-go". Overall, you get what you pay for.

FANTASTIC!! Dog friendly, walking distance to the beach, food, downtown. Great area to safely walk anywhere. Outdoor pool was clean. Great place for the entire family. Surly not an upscale 5 star hotel but PERFECT for casual, comfortable easy access to EVERYTHING.

We stay here every year for the Ojai Tennis Tournament as I am a tennis coach. We get a good rate and it fills our needs. The breakfast at the restaurant is very good. This is not a fancy place but very adequate as we spend most of our time on the tennis courts

Extremely nice staff and the rooms are very clean. The bed is great and all of the appliances are almost brand new. You cannot find a better room at the prices they are charging. Plus it is a few minutes to walk to the beach.

We loved staying here, I’m so glad we found it. The rooms are super clean and nice, it’s so close to the beach, they have a continental breakfast, and the staff is the coolest!! Erin and Nicole were so friendly and chill and helped us find awesome local places to go. We’ll definitely return!!

My wife and I tried the Vagabond because we had an Access coupon. We really enjoyed our breakfast. We will definitely be back. The food was delicious and had good portions.

The hotel was fine overall, room was comfortable and it's a good location. However, we did not really feel comfortable. We arrived early evening and the people staying there weren't the 'nicest'. We saw a few fights going on, heard a lot of shouting and people just hanging out in front of their rooms.

When we entered our room there was an half empty bottle of water left on the bedside table and some leftover food left in the fridge. For the rest the room was very clean and comfortable. Very noisy though..

The breakfast in the morning was in the lobby (no tables and seats) and only has little sugary snacks and coffee and tea. For the price we paid though, we can't really complain about this.

Loved this spot. Really close to all the downtown shops. The dinner had some scrumptious dishes and the atmosphere was fun.

Decided to stay at the Vagabond Inn about a month ago because it was close to the beach and cheap. Some of the rooms are older but still very nice, clean and comfortable. We were helped by Deborah and her customer service was so great we decided to stay again this past weekend. When we checked in Deborah helped us again and even remembered us from our past stay. She was very helpful and pleasant and made our stay wonderful. Such great customer service is hard to come by! The hotel is just across from the beach only separated by train tracks. It is located right off the boulevard, has a heated pool, a satisfying continental breakfast, late checkout at noon, and is lower priced than the hotels surrounding it but is comparable in quality. They are in the process of upgrading some of their rooms and they are very nice. This has become our go-to place. We will be back for sure and highly recommend it.

Old school in every sense. Exceptionally good service and fresh coffee all the time. My favorite is the corned beef hash. A bigger than average breakfast list that always hits the mark.

My girlfriend and I have stayed here for nine days from February tenth to February eighteenth 2018. We both loved the comfortable clean room. We enjoyed The bathtub, the refrigerator, and microwave in the room, the many cable television channels, the iron, hairdryer, coffee maker, and the complimentary bathing products, along with the free WiFi is excellent. Also the free continental breakfast is satisfying and delicious. We enjoyed the location as it is a couple of blocks from main street of downtown Ventura, and a couple of blocks from the ventura pier and the Pacific Ocean This is the best hotel/motel in Ventura. I would enjoy staying here again.

Great service clean family unit room. Short walk to the beach, park, restaurant s, thrift stores, Ventura theatre, train station. No need to drive everything you need is very close. Great continental breakfast and a 12 noon checkout time!! Love the sound of the train too !

Place was super clean in the room. Comfortable beds nice staff. Area is urban so your gonna have some transients but parking is in a courtyard off the street so I never felt unsafe. Great stay overall right off the 101 not spendy.

Very clean rooms. The coffee shop there has fresh and delicious food. Close by The historic Mission and antique shops go visit the artsy pier if you like commercial fishing vessels make good pictures. The staff at this hotel are down to earth. I'll stay again.

This is diner food at it's best. This restaurant has been open 50+ years and I think some of the people who work here have been here since then. Good location, good food, and good service. I recommend trying the pecan waffle on the weekends, you won't be sorry.

Room was clean, pool was clean, spa could have been a little cleaner. Service was decent enough. The people staying there was a mixed bag, some looked like really decent people however some that looked like they had residency there looked a little on the sketchy side, I swear a couple of them were full blown tweaks but what can you expect they where 80 dollars cheaper then any other hotel in the vicinity. I would go back but my wife would probably not allow it, being I'm a little more adventurous.

Where do I begin! Room's definitely need to be updated! The carpets were so dirty I could not take my shoes off, and in the middle of the night when I had to get up to go to the bathroom I had to put my shoes back on. Our bed had sand in it. The pillows felt like they were stuffed with towels they were so uncomfortable. The ice maker machine was stuck in the wall right at our room so all night we heard the ice machine trying to read generate. Very loud very noisy!
The lady at the front desk was very nice and accommodating. They had flat screen TV and Internet.

Rooms we pleasant. Good a/c. Shower was easy to work. Price was nice. Nearby restaurant was good food.

The Vagabond Restaurant has the best breakfast specials. I eat there every year when I visit Ventura. Most of the waitresses have been there for many years, and give the best service around, no slow service here.

Awesome cleaning crew!! My dog loved the little grass dog area. Nephew loved the Jacuzzi. Good coffee in the office! Great price to be on the beach in Ventura!! Room w bunk beds is nice. We got a roll a away and slept 6. Great food within a skip away.

We stayed on the second floor family suite with bunk beds. We really enjoyed our stay with a great separation of space for us and our son. It was a couple blocks from downtown and walking distance to the beach.

Interesting place beds were comfortable but a.c. unit was behind a wall in the pre bath area. Which ment the unit ran all night without stopping just to maintain 74 degrees. Kinda a downer when one wants to sleep in a QUITE PLACE. People were nice enough but I was worried about what was in my vehicle because of the in homes people around. Secondary lock for the door was on the floor on arrival and don't expect breakfast unless a pastry is what you wanted.

The price is definitely the right price. The room was very neat and organized except the floor was very dirty, everywhere. The pool is very well heated and so is the spa. It is right next to the train tracks so if you stay here, expect to be woken up at 3am from the horn of the train! 🚂

Place is a great stop if you need an affordable hotel within the downtown area. I found it comforting, and may be a budget hotel, but the staff was really friendly, the night was quite, and I enjoyed being able to have there complimentary breakfast in the morning. Was a very suitable hotel for a huge vacation. Will be back

Clean room, we had a family suite it was a great value for the price. Beach right across the bridge that ends at the Ventura Pier! Clean warm pool and friendly staff always makes the Ventura Vagabond a great place to stay.

The price is right here, with at least semi-decent room quality...free WiFi, pool, jacuzzi, fridge, and the convenience of a full service restaurant on site. Other fine dining nearby, as well...

I always have a good stay at the vagabond inn. Its clean and i love the staff. Its in the perfect location near the beach and shopping. I would recomend anyone to stay at the Vagabond inn in ventura ca.

This is my favorite comfort food, I've been going to Vagabond​ since I was a small child and 30 some odd years later it's still my favorite place to go eat.

The vagabond inn restaurant has been here over 50 years. Many of my friends have eaten there with their families while growing up here. So far its my favorite diner in Ventura. Their menu is varied but I always go for the specials.

Great local hotel! It's not a super nice luxurious place by any means. But if you're looking for a laid-back, very clean, and well kept old fashioned motor motel, this is it. My favorite thing about this place was the pool, and the service wasn't bad either. I really would have given this a 5 star ratting, as I really fell in love with the old fashioned atmosphere. However the continental breakfast left much to be desired. It was just a bunch of pre packaged things, like muffins and cookies, nothing hot, not even cereal. So that was a big turn off, but it's very close to some awesome restaurants. Another thing that stood out about this place was the service! Things as simple as asking for extra towels or toiletries were taken care of with a happy to help attitude! The pool was very clean and posibly an oxygenated pool system so it didnt burn my eyes! Nice hot tub also. And for that I will definitely recommend this place for a couple looking to get away for the weekend

I've stayed at the Vagabond for the last 6 years attending the annual cycling event. The prices have always been reasonable and the rooms acceptable. However, it's taken a turn for the worse. This weekend the assigned room had many stains on the tired carpet. I usually don't complain but this was pretty disgusting.

The Ventura Inn was my dream of an old California seaside motor inn. The rooms are very comfortable. The pool and hot tub are quite warm. The beach and boardwalk are just a short walk down the hill from the hotel. The internet is OK with up speeds of 5mbps and down speeds of 3mbps. The breakfast is continental and in my case consisted of a packaged scone, piece of fruit, and Earl Grey tea.

We've been staying there for our annual getaway for the past 20 years. We like the location, the pool, the restaurant. Met a wide variety of guests. The staff has been great and not so great. Yes, we've run into the local trade, but nothing that has made us feel uncomfortable. It's nice to be able to support a California chain.

Simple motel, with a tiny breakfast variety, BUT right at the beach! We had no clue. We arrived during the night an it was just in the morning, after I googled how to get to the beach, that I figured out it takes 3 minutes to walk there. It's right at the famous Ventura Pier! You'll find great breakfast, lunch and dinner on the Pier. The Motel had clean comfortable rooms, a big pool, a hot tub.... Everything satisfying
