I had came to this resort twice when I traveled to Virginia Beach. Just a great resort to relax and have fun time with your family. Great services and friendly staffs. Comfortable room, very clean. I love their pool, they have both inside and outside pool. Right price.

Room was not properly cleaned, found raisins and much dust along wall. Elevators were frequently tied up by staff. Walls are paper thin. Overheard another family talking about how neither the fridge or bathtub worked. Outdoor shower to wash sand off doesn't work and had to use garden hose in indoor pool. As a result the indoor pool is full of sand. There are no silverware or plates provided in room. Recycling bin is provided but watched staff just dump that in with the trash. Heavy and nauseating hot trash smell outside front entrance. Would not stay here again.

This hotel was on of the cheaper ones in the area and it showed. It was very outdated which wouldn't bother me if it was clean. The carpet was disgusting and our balcony was right above the dumpster. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, but lacked the resources needed to make sure we were taken care of. They did not have very many towels so we had to wait a while to get more. They also only had one elevator working on the one side which became congested with 8 floors. The only positives were the closeness to the beach and friendly staff.

I would've given a 5 if the beach and pool were actually private to guests. They're open and unsupervised so non guests come and have massive parties, which for one isn't fair because they're not paying. Secondly, it makes your "private" beach VERY public. As for the actual hotel, the only complaints would be that they need more elevators, and to keep the few they do have working properly. Also, if you sit on the patio to take in the beautiful view, it smells like straight up garbage. I'm not sure if it's from the location of the dumpsters, or from all the garbage laying around in the parking lot. The service we received was excellent. The staff and housekeeping were excellent. If you plan on spending your time mostly on the beach, ask for a room close to the beach or pool, or it's a very, very long walk. The location was perfect, just enough waves. Beautiful wildlife everyday. Dolphins comes up very close daily. I would recommend this hotel. I would also like to add they're in the process of remodeling, so they may be fixing all of the negatives I've mentioned.

The front desk supervisors Dixie and Chris were amazing. I had a couple of complications with the third party booking company, with the room I reserved not being available and the third party charged me twice. They most definitely took care of the situation and turned it into a great stay. Dixie stayed calm and took care of everything while multi tasking with the phone and other customers at the same time. She brings a lot of value to this hotel. The front door assistant Tim displayed great hospitality and customer service. He haves a great since of humor and personality. If you think about staying here you might be better off calling the hotel directly and reserve your room instead of going through the third party. They are great !!!!!!!!

Nice for the price. Pretty clean and spacious rooms. Only wish that our corner room had a balcony, as corners seemed to be the only ones without them. Great view though and the beach is really nice and not too crowded there. Bathroom could use a makeover but it's still better than some places. Parking are tight which doesn't go well with people who can't park their giant SUVs and trucks. Also can't see how there's enough parking during peak season since it was pretty full at night when we got back. Would stay here again though because it's nice to be away from the touristy oceanfront part of Virginia Beach. The bay is much less crowded.

I have stayed at this hotel twice now and on both occasions I have been very impressed! I have stayed at other throughout the country but nothing compares to the quality of service, the cleanness of the rooms and quality food overall to this hotel! The staff there are always helpful and friendly and would go the extra mile to help you. The food is incredible especially for a budget hotel I am surprised how good it actually tastes and looks, both breakfast and evening meal was very delicious! Both of my room's I got on both occasions were clean and everything was in working order + I hardly heard the dreaded heavy room doors "slam" or "hear noisy people" walk along the isles. If you ever stay at this hotel request to stay on the top business floor to ensure the best night for sleep! I will be back again for sure you have my custom for life whenever I am in Southampton this will be the only hotel I stay in!!

Room Tip: Request "business floor" room for BEST NIGHT SLEEP and order the unlimited breakfast too!

Nice location to the water and to Virginia Beach main area but not much else was nice. Room was dated (old TV, dingy tables and chairs, missing linens for pullout couch). Also, burnt light bulb in bathroom, hot water took 5minutes to get hot. Outdoor pool not acceptable for swimming and outdoor rinse shower not functional. People that were part of the group tried to check in at 9pm and room wasn't cleaned.... seriously? The clerk at check in was friendly but this was early in the day. Linen situation was resolved quickly. Unsure of why the check in process seemed dysfunctional in the evening. If this was not funded by my company I WOULD NOT recommend this to anyone.

The hotel definitely shows some age, but the rooms are spacious and the waterfront is great. I had two bad experiences. First, my room had issues with the hot water in the shower. After calling maintenance, the best they could do to fix it was to remove the stop screw and instruct me how to pull out the knob halfway and turn it slightly to get hot water. Crazy. Second, the restaurant was catering breakfast for a 300 member high school band. It thus took 1 hour to get an order of 2 pancakes with bacon. The hostess was very apologetic and rightly took care of my check. Overall, the amenities of the water and space outweigh the negatives of the age of the hotel. Also, with regard to the restaurant experience, I was here before the season started so they didn't have the summer staff that they would normally have to handle the crowd that was here.

This was our best visit to the hotel yet. The staff was courteous & friendly. The room was oceanview and the weather was mid 80's. We enjoyed the view from the balcony and sipped cold drinks til the sun went down. Dockside Restaurant is just a 5 minute drive away and the seafood cant be beat. My husband liked their workout room & sauna in the early morning, while I slept in. Great stay.

My husband and I are planning a trip to Virginia Beach for a wedding, after reading reviews we were a little uncertain on whether or not to stay here, however, we decided to go for it and we are not disappointed. The staff was very friendly and our room was an updated room. Even though they said it was not a ocean view we had a view of the ocean from our patio. We had plenty of hot water for oir small family of 3 and got a good night's rest. I would recommend it for the price and with the private beach access. If your looking for high end, this is not the place. The hotel is a little out-dated...and the restaurant attached to it was okay but nothing special.

Spent the weekend here at a conference with 4 other girls and we were initially placed in a room with one king bed. After talking to the front concierge, we were moved to a room with 4 beds and a pull-out couch - which was amazing! Great views, great bar, great restaurant, great room-service, essentially it was a great time. What really made it special was how friendly everyone working at this hotel was, it felt as though I was leaving my best friend's house by the end of the weekend. It is also located right on the shore, making downtime perfect for hitting the beach!

Indoor pool, jacuzzi and gym facilities we're well maintained, rooms were large with separate living room and bedroom, and nice bathrooms. Everything in our room was fine though our friends had no water in their room almost all weekend. Property is run down looking and needs a lot of maintenance. Restaurant was so so. Staff however was exceptionally nice. With updates and maintenance could be a really nice hotel. I would recommend if it's a budget option, but can't recommend it highly due to the high levels of obvious neglect by the owners

Meeting spaces are clean and tidy but a bit worn and dated. Didn't stay so no opinion on the guest rooms. Parking for non-guests it's entirely inadequate. And forget it if you are here during beach weather.

Room was spacious with a bit of a view but dated. Whole property was rather dated. Room had a small kitchenette but no microwave. It is the off season, but the clerk put us up on the 6th floor and the elevator was broken. When we checked out, it was still broken and had to bring all luggage down seven flights of stairs. No discount offered or consolation of any kind. Morning clerk knew said it had been an issue for a while. I will look for another hotel next time.

I loved the view of the Chesapeake Bay bridge at night time very calming after a long day. The room was lovely on the 6th floor. I would of liked the staff to make sure all the lights work prior to me checking into the room for the price paid for my stay

The hotel rooms were a little weird. There was no doors between the living room and the bedroom and the only door there was was to the bathroom where the shower in the toilet was. That's all fine and good but for privacy, when you have six people, you just don't get it. The View was good and the people were nice I would go back if it was just my husband and I

Other reviews of this place were a bit spotty. If you judge this place just on the room itself, it was pretty good. We did not use the other amenities of the hotel, but they looked a little so so. Nice ocean view from our room

Was there for a Banquet. The food was delicious and the service was friendly. Our banquet room faced the Chesapeake Bay Bridge which was enchanting at night. I wish our host had advised of how the parking was laid out. Had we know which ballroom we were in, we could have parked right outside the door vs in the front of the building and having such a long walk. All in all it was a nice experience.

We stayed here almost a week. Our room had a bedroom on the hall side with living area on the beach side with a balcony and a great view. The balcony furniture was filthy and since the bedroom was on the hall, it was quite noisy. Even more noisy when the beds creaked. While we were there we ran out of toilet paper, soap, towels and electricity. Not that the electricity part was the hotel's fault. Housekeeping didn't seem to care to replenish what we needed despite repeated calls. Some days they showed up, some they didn't. So far as I could tell the room was never swept while we were there. There was some sort of large crumb on the floor near the table we got there and it was still there until I couldn't stand it anymore 3 days later. Fortunately, the front desk staff was pretty good and was able to supply most of what we needed so long as we would trek down there to get it. When the electricity went out, the stairwells were not lit sufficiently to use them. Guests with cell phone flashlights helped those without navigate. Hotel staff didn't seem to care or set up any kind of temporary lighting. The restaurant and bar were pretty good and their staff was friendly and helpful. The kids enjoyed the pool and sauna. I could go on but I won't. I won't stay here again.

Location is directly on the beach, and actually includes a private beach. The hotel also has a full-service restaurant and a gift shop that serves more casual breakfast and lunch fare. Hotel is a little bit dated, but not terribly much. Generally, absolutely loved the place. Room contained two double beds, a Roku TV, and an older TV in the sitting area. Also, a kitchenette with a microwave, coffee maker, and mini fridge. It was basically a small apartment, minus an actual stove. Balcony was large and had chairs and a view of the ocean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again!

This place could really be nice if the owners &/or staff cared. Service in the restaurant is iffy, at best. The food is good but service is slow & they appeared to be constantly short handed. The rooms are okay, not bad for the price. The elevators crawl, if both of them are working. They do have plenty of meeting/class rooms, which is a huge plus for what we were there for. With some TLC & more staff it could be a 5 star hotel. Till then, I can only give it 3.

I rented a room for my grandkids and myself over Labor Day. The room was clean. Amenities plenty. Access to pool and beach. Pool is inside flowing out. Sauna and hot tub. Staff was courteous and got us everything we needed. Not a fancy hotel but met our needs and the price was right!

The hospitality at this location is top-notch, my girlfriend and I immediately felt at home once we checked in. The view of the bay is beautiful and it is a convenient distance from the boardwalk. It so happens that a conference was being hosted by the American Legion while I was there so I was able to interact with other Legionnaires but they also host weddings and family reunions. It's the perfect place for various such events.

Recently, a group from my Church (FVAUMC) has organized a summer event for our Church members. Most of our Senior members stayed at this resort hotel and everyone were very satisfied with the services and how clean the rooms are. We are very pleased that Cheryl Wolf has given us a great discounted rate so we can block out some rooms for our members. Overall, it was a great experience to stay at this resort hotel.

My family has been staying here for years, so it's got a soft-spot in my heart for the location alone... beautiful beach-side (bay-side) views from many of their rooms, easy to get down to the boardwalk and the rest of VA Beach/Hampton Roads region. All that being said, it hasn't been updated much since the days when I visited as a child. The bathrooms, beds, T.V.'s, pretty much everything is way out of date. Don't even bother with their breakfast/brunch buffet on the weekends, it's embarrassing. I'll still go on occasion because it's a great deal but could definitely do better under new management.

This is our favorite beach destination within 4 hours from NOVA. We have been staying here multiple times each summer for the past 3 years and never were disappointed. This summer we came with our 5 months old and it's more a "balcony" vacation, the hotel is just perfect - one of us can go swimming and sees the rest of the family in the balcony, so we all can be together and see each other. The staff is professional, very kind and understanding. Sunrises and sunsets are absolutely magnificent there! I am pleased to see that the hotel is updating - since our last visit previous month new balcony furniture had been bought.

I have stayed in this hotel on business twice a year for the last 6 years, great location and great beaches but this hotel is extremely dated, either they need a complete renovation or to remove the word "resort" from the name. Every stay I've had there has been an issue with my room, from pizza boxes left out from the previous guests to having the fridge in the middle of the living room. Hotel staff needs to monitor the pool area to enforce rules on juveniles after 11 being unsupervised in the spa area. Pretty hard to relax in the hot tub when kids are doing cannonballs. My final and biggest complaint, don't ever be in a hurry if you summon an elevator, usually they are out of order. If you want to call yourself a resort step it up

Location, service, food, were great. Beach front. Indoor and outdoor pools available, jacuzzi, and about 25 yards to ocean. Balcony views provide long view of ocean and beach front. Pier fishing close. Paddle board, sailboat rentals available on beach. Would visit again.

We arrived before our check in time and they allowed us to go ahead and check in. Very polite staff checking in and out. Very helpful in trying to find vending machines. Beach access beautiful, nice pool, well air conditioned room. All rooms face the water, some just have closer views. Would stay again.

Nice view but hotel needs updating. Went into restaurant inside hotel and decided to eat outside on deck. Host sat us and after 10min and no waiter showed up, we left. Other than that....not bad. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the boardwalk where the waves are nice and calm...this may be the spot. Bay front with King is the way to go.

The staff work really hard to make sure you have a great time! Indoor pool, sauna, hot tub and fitness center is in EXCELLENT shape and very well maintained. Room was nice, mattresses were great, but pillows were too soft for my liking. The beach was perfect and not crowded because everything there was private. So many fantastic places very close by too!

This hotel has always been wonderful in the past and I have been going there for over 20 years. However, this year, we had to change rooms on the first night due to a severe water leak. I had reserved an ocean front king size room. I was transferred to a non-ocean front room but was told it was equal in price because it was a 2 room suite. However, there was no coffee pot, only 2 lamps worked out of the 6 in the room, the pillows on the bed were flat and looked like they had been used for dog toys, and the balcony furniture was so dirty it was black instead of the original white color. I received a total $20 off my bill because I was told this new room was actually more expensive than the one I had reserved. Never had this kind of treatment before.

Great location. Close to lots of fun spots but far enough that the noise of those places doesn't interfere with your stay. The rooms are very well kept however the balcony is quite bland but this is the off season so it's understandable. The front desk service is very kind and the cleaning staff does a good job while also respecting the do not distribute sign.

We thought we were getting away to a nice, local secret. Not so. Once seated in a mostly empty restaurant, we waited, and waited for our server. The host eventually came over, and we asked for a wine list. Eventually the host came back, we asked about a couple of menu items (white bean meatballs and the hummus appetizer) his responses did little to encourage or promote the menu. Still no sign of the waiter. The host took our appetizer order, and the waitress finally showed up to take the wine order. The wine arrived, and there was a yellow crystalline substance in the bottom of my wife's glass. They replaced the wine. The hummus arrived, with the "oven roasted olives" (all 5 of them). I ordered the grouper special, might have actually been grouper, but looked like tilapia. Sauce was good. My wife ordered the beer-battered flounder, the frozen stuff at the grocery is better. Had to go in search of the malt vinegar, not really sure what the brown sugary stuff they brought out was. Paid the check, then had to go find the waitress again to get my card back. End result: slow, poor service; unenthusiastic staff; and marginal food. We won't go back.

I've got to say, not my favorite hotel. While accommodations in Virginia Beach can be lacking due to how many people are there, I sincerely hope there are better places to stay. When I was here, both of the elevators were broken and the rooms had seen better days. My bed was comfortable, but I honestly would not want to sit on any other piece of furniture. The couch was covered in stains and the furniture on the balcony was falling apart. The staff I spoke to were friendly, but they could not make up for just how badly this hotel needs some deep cleaning and renovating.

The room had a large lounge area separate to the beds, which was much appreciated. The sauna, jacuzzi and health club all suited my needs without any issues. I wish the pool was deeper than 3-4 feet. The hotel restaurant, Trade Winds, was quite terrible; they took hours to bring our food and tried to seat us at a rather dirty table. As for location, I'd say it was perfectly placed. We never needed to drive very far in any direction to get anywhere we wanted to visit.

Loved the setting. All staff was super friendly but Mr. Christian at front desk stood up. Super polite and accommodating to make sure our stay was enjoyable. The setting?...cannot get enough of it. I would give a 10+ star for the setting, pool, jacuzzi, staff and room setting but the parking situation wasn't the best and the rooms are very outdated. Our door made such a loud snap when closing that I feared another guest would complain 😞. Balcony door did the same and the paint is coming off. TVs? Are the old TVs which I personally don't mind but for a resort of this magnitude I expected more updated rooms. Elevators weren't working...although I did enjoy the 5 flights of stairs workout my mother in law didn't 😂 and it was very inconvenient. We were given a room on third floor first for which the keys didn't work and staff member had to let us in. I had paid for ocean front view...the room had none. That's where Mr. Chicane in and made our stay more enjoyable by fixing our keys and giving a better situated room on the gift floor. Again the area though.... loved it.
