Certifications
ISO 14001
ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard that outlines how to put an effective environmental management system in place. It is designed to help businesses remain commercially successful without overlooking environmental responsibilities, such as:
• Improve their environmental performance constantly
• Comply with local and national regulations and other requirements subscribed
• Prevent water, air and ground pollution hazards
• Control and optimise water and energy consumption
• Promote waste recycling and recovery
• Raise environmental awareness among employees and train them to adopt good practices in their activity
• Use eco-label housekeeping products
• Use sustainable forestry certified paper
Green Key Eco-Rating Program 4
With more than 1,200 hotels certified in Canada since its inception in the 1990s, the Green Key Eco-Rating Program awards hotels an environmental rating of one to five Green Keys. Green Key members are then given guidance on how to "unlock" opportunities to reduce operating costs and environmental impacts - and in turn earn more keys.
The Green Key audit looks at nine major areas of sustainable hotel operations:
• Energy conservation
• Water conservation
• Solid waste management
• Hazardous waste management
• Indoor air quality
• Community outreach
• Building infrastructure
• Land use
• Environmental management
ISO 50001
ISO 50001 is based on the management system model of continual improvement also used for other well-known standards such as ISO 9001 or ISO 14001. This makes it easier for organizations to integrate energy management into their overall efforts to improve quality and environmental management.
ISO 50001 provides a framework of requirements for organizations to:
- Develop a policy for more efficient use of energy
- Fix targets and objectives to meet the policy
- Use data to better understand and make decisions about energy use
- Measure the results
- Review how well the policy works, and
- Continually improve energy management.

I love this hotel. With the decor presidents take in, this location offers everything you could possibly want. Room service is to die for as are the rooms. One of the top ten hotels in all of America!

Finally stayed here from Friday to Sunday November 18-20, 2016. Sure the hotel is dated as many know but the rooms are clean and lobby fantastic. Sad to see it go. Was a great hotel for many years and for many people.

This 5 Star Hotel has a reputation of being elegant, exquisite, royal and top notch. I've stayed here several times, and the Waldorf lives uo to its reputation. Staff is professional and the Hotel is always super clean.

We have stayed at the Waldorf a few times and have loved it every time! The first time we went to Oscar's for the classic Waldorf salad, of course, and loved the dining room and meal. It was always such a special experience at the beginning of our vacation and we will surely miss being able to stay there now.

Definitely one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. Every item was expensive, as to be expected for the location and business, but the lobby and rooms were amazingly decorated and all staff members were remarkable in their appearance and interactions. Overall, if you've got the money to spend and the attire to wear, I'd recommend a short stay here to see what this place is all about.

Our favorite Hotel. I have been going here since I was a little girl with my Grandparents. Now, I have been taking my own Granddaughter at Christmas time every year. She is now 15 years old. Family tradition has come to an end with the closing of this wonderful, beautiful, great staff hotel. It will be missed!

Wanted to stay during the final days before it changes and no longer exists. It was ok. What made this place remarkable were the memories of its glorious years

Yes, this is the famous Waldorf Astoria. If you have a lot of money to spend, do it here - it will be an amazing experience! If you don't, stay elsewhere...the rooms for us middle class citizens are small, there are no amenities, and little in the way of views.

No longer an upscale destination. Great service and couldn't ask for better attention as a top tier member. But, the facilities and amenities are sub par. Even renovated rooms are dated and 3 star at best. As a nasty smoker this was my go to hotel until that was phased out. If willing to spend the same or more then there are many better options within a few blocks and for the same $ or less you can get more modern amenities across the street at the DoubleTree. (prefer the warm cookies instead of the drink tickets anyway). Not a disappointment to see it closed for a real face lift this time.

My review is long overdue from my trip, but when I read the doors were closing for renovations, I realized I never wrote my review.
I came here during the summer and couldn't wait to stay here as it is an Iconic piece of NYC. But I'm glad to hear that it will be getting an overhaul, I hope all the historic charm will be kept but added modern amenities be incorporated.
The hotel is grand as it was intended. There is very beautiful pieces of art here, but it is very dated. The hotel keys and locks work on and off, and you have to go all the way down to the lobby to get a new key. The lobby is fairly dark and dated as well. The carpet throughout the hotel has definitely seen better days. The room as grand as the suite was, it sure was dated. The AC is not very easy to find where to control it and makes it difficult to cool down such a grand room. The furniture is abundant but not very functional. The changing room is amazing, but also dated and not too functional. The bathroom is grand and large but mostly wasted space, the shower is tiny, the toilet has no door to it, so you can't really have two people occupying the bathroom since there is no door to the toilet. The tub wasn't all that grand either.
The butlers corner was large but very dark and not too useful, the fridge is quite small for such a grand room. We scheduled a spa appointment but never got the chance to go due to confusions. There was no mini bar menu in the room although there was plenty of other hotel books in the room.
I would say the hotel is more iconic and historic than it is functional and luxurious to stay at.

I visited this hotel because I heard the lobby was beautiful. Definitely something to see! Almost like a museum in hotel form. I wasn't a guest here, I only walked in for a few minutes to take a look.

So glad I was able to experience the greatness of this hotel in its final days. Walking in, the art deco definitely makes you feel as if you've stepped back in time. All the restaurants are amazing, especially Peacock Alley for Sunday Brunch which was truly an experience. The hotel is also pet friendly which is a HUGE bonus in my opinion.

Room was very outdated. Heater in bathroom broken. Widow shade in living room broken. Fire place? Was really an outlet. Uncomfortable couch. Peeling paint. Would not recommend for cost of room.

The room was amazing. So clean with a breathtaking view. The housekeeping team was incredible. Really enjoyed my stay. Will be recommending to others. The only thing I didn't like was when I called before checking in to see if a room would be available two hours before check in time, the employee that answered was very rude. But aside...

Beautiful, historic hotel with a great location and excellent service. I have stayed here in early January with my daughter over the last two years. I was hoping to make it a tradition as we have enjoyed both the terrific service we've received and the beautiful architecture and design. So disappointed that it will no longer be an option for us to enjoy or recommend to others. Enjoy it while you can!

We decided to stay here before it closed down. The bed seemed small for a king. We actually mentioned it to them and they swore it was a king. The toilet had some issues and someone had to come up and fix it. Staff was great, which I expected. The underground pickup area was very convenient and would have been even more appreciated if it had been raining. Location, of course, is excellent.

Hotel it's closing for a major renovation that took years and will transform a large portion of the complex in a condominium.
Beside the majestic entrance and the restaurants, of the good old times last only the dust.
Most of the rooms are in conditions that are difficult even to described such are terrible.
With Anti nasty animal spray smell everywhere, broken windows, and super noisy old ac that doesn't even warm up properly.. that's what you will face.
Staff is largely demotivated as all of them has been fired and therefore need to find a new job, sometime after decades of service.
You may notice that the prices are going down and this is basically a going out of business sales.
If you are not going for a suite that anyway are by far out of any acceptable modern standard, you risk to spend your nights in a nightmare.
Our rooms had a major problems and we have been upgraded...After five hours ...
Defenitely a non go.

The staff and service were excellent. They went above and beyond to make us and our four legged family member feel welcome and well taken care of. The location couldn't be better and the room was perfect. It's an older hotel and there's some visible wear and tear, but they're working on a big renovation and the price was very reasonable. I still love all the old intricate art deco styling.
The only negative I really have is the Peacock Alley restaurant. We had a couple of disappointing salads with very overcooked salmon and mimosas. We didn't complain or send anything back, but we felt it was a poor value.
I would absolutely stay at the Waldorf again, but eat elsewhere.

Great experience and vibe. Would stay here again. Did you know? They claim to be responsible for Waldorf salad, red velvet cake and thousand island dressing. They also offer a walking tour a few times per week.

Definitely worth going if you're interested in its history. The property is aging and it's old... luxury of the 1950s id say. Still an amazing huge historic hotel! Service is spectacular, dining options and the location is wonderful. They're closing in February so make sure to get in before they do!! You will not regret it!
TIP: Avoid floors 13 and 11, they're already starting construction on the 12th floor. Just an FYI!

An amazing hotel which has echo's of yesteryear.
The service was second to none and if fact started ahead of our trip with the Concierge helping out with bookings at various 'hard to get into' restaurants.
We were lucky enough to get upgraded to a suite, which was huge, especially for New York. The rooms felt a little tired, when compared to newer hotels but don't let that put you off - they were still quite grand.
Everyone, from the door man, to the bell hop and housekeeping were ready with a cheerful greeting.
But the main star is the building itself, which is beautiful example of Art Deco design, especially the front lobby.
Make sure you visit while you can.

This is a nice hotel that has the fanciest women's bathroom I've ever seen. I loved admiring every bit of the hotel and its surroundings. The employees there are all friendly and hardworking. I had a wonderful time while staying at the Waldorf Astoria.

Amazing! Went for my 30th birthday, the staff and service was amazing. The whole hotel is amazing. They have a number of bars in the hotel, my favourite was Sir Harry's Bar, then the Peacocks bar was my second favourite. The room was very spacious and really nice too. If you ask, they will also provide you with plug adapters, extra towels etc at no extra cost. It is also walking distance from a number of different food places and an amazing breakfast/brunch diner called luncheonette.

I went to the Waldorf Astoria to see Steve Cohen's "Chamber Magic" event (mind boggling if you'd like to know) and feel in love with the iconic piece of history that the hotel is. The lobby is breathtaking and their period piece rooms are luxurious.
I was saddened to hear it will be renovated into condominiums beginning in February. What a shame.

It's the Waldorf Astoria! Old historical hotel, fancy rooms. Good location, great service, some really nice restaurants in the hotel. Their room service menu is amazing, especially in how they cater to a number of food allergies. They have gluten free pasta, bread, buns, muffins, etc etc. We had a lovely stay here.

Had to stay here once and we did. The hotel and it's history is great but the staff not so much. I didn't have issues per say, but you don't feel appreciated at all. It's more like your cattle and the staff is here to move you in and out as quick quick as possible. The restaurant was fairly crappy too. The prices are redonkulous and the food is below average. Again, we wanted to have that memory - so go to the hotel at least once

The service was lovely. My husband and I had drinks before bed at peacock alley and our waiter was quite knowledgeable and friendly. The room did get a bit warm as the air was off for the season, but it was a very nice stay.

I was thrilled when my sister in law told me we were staying at a 5 star hotel when we booked our little vacay to New York.
I studied up on the history of the hotel going back to the 1800's..amazing ! I could not wait to get there and let me tell you ...I was NOT disappointed !!!
The lobby is breathtaking...the reception desk employees were so nice and completely accommodating. The Bell capt. was adorable. Our room (double full) was spotless and the bathroom was huge. The robes to die for and the beds....OH, the beds were delicious. I kept thinking if I could just hide one sheet a day, by the end of my stay I'd be set. The hand lotion they have in the lobby restrooms is divine...I've even googled it and purchased some for myself.
Can't say enough about this lovely hotel and it's employees. I hope to come back one day !!
Thanks for a great stay !
Conveniently located next to some great restaurants.
Nice receptionists and customer service. The facilities are beautiful, clean, & well kept.
