This old style pub/restaurant is in heart of a lovely and very British village, with a large beer garden. They have a wide range of beers and spirits to choose from. This is also an hotel, if you are looking for a short stay.

Lovely place for everything from a relaxed coffee in the morning to a special evening meal. Beautiful dining area.
Staff are great and menu caters for gluten free and vegan diets. Our favourite pub in the area.

Modern and Cozy rooms in a quiet locale. Breakfast is a little slow but of good quality.

Disappointed. Newly re-opened after refurbishment, and yes, the furnishings are contemporary but prices are far too high for indifferent quality. I stayed here prior to the refurbishment and enjoyed it more. Perhaps my expectations were too high. Average, I was expecting (hoping for) something better.

Really great venue/decor, especially with the bi-folding doors open to the terrace. Food was so close, but so far. The afternoon tea looked the part was poor, wet sandwiches, pre made up scones (no choice of jam/cream) and a really small tea selection.

Utterly fantastic. Thoroughly recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Update: back for fourth visit. We really love the fact that the alfresco dining / drinks terrace is smoke free. Too often, non smokers who want to enjoy the weather have to endure smokers around them. Not here! Keep up the great work.

Lovely warm greeting. We enjoyed our time there from the moment we arrived till the time we left. A lovely boutique hotel. We will stay again when we are next up in that part of the country.

The White Horse is a nice location. The afternoon tea is quite average. The sandwiches were very large and quite sloppy too eat, rather than delicate sandwiches you often get in afternoon tea. The cakes were quite dry and the tart was very dense. We weren't given a tea menu and the hot drinks for our group all arrived at different times. The food was average but not bad.

Really nice laid back lunch. Venue looks stunning, recently been renovated and looks beautiful. Food was delicious, large portions!!! Great for families with with children as plenty of room for pushchair etc. Plenty of parking or an easy reach of walking/cycling on the Cole Green Way.

8

Great meal with great service. Would have given five stars but the manager was a bit rude when we first came in, stating they didn't normally serve food in the bar area despite me asking and reserving a table before the visit, and being the only area we could eat in as we brought our dog.

We visited on a Fri for dinner with another couple. We thought the new refurburbishment was wonderful and had a great relaxing meal. We all had main meals and our friends had desert. We found the staff charming and efficient and enjoyed our fish and chips a lot. The bill was good value and we definatly return

Service was brilliant; food was delicious, well portioned and reasonably priced; the only quarm I have is that their menu could use a little more variety.

The stand in manager was not helpful to the receptionist when she had a problem checking us in and was not apologetic to us when our room was a twin and not a double ,it was changed later that day though.
Only one person stood out who couldn't do enough to help and closed some doors by us while another worker was vacumning in the next room whilst we were eating breakfast. ( A young blonde lad )

Day1: Uncomfortable beds and poor pillows unless u like a cricked neck, breakfast was below average but the sausage was good, Bacon looked like it was cooked in a steamer, beans had stewed too a mound on the plate and black pudding cooked on one side, egg was over cooked. And to top it off the milk had turned. Tables were left uncleared and left you wondering where to sit. Evening meal: was a little bland although the portions were about right. Average very average. Day2: What a change breakfast was perfect and top marks for service, last nights dinner was also better and the steak was cooked as ordered. Bed still uncomfortable and bathroom although very clean is a bit on the cramped side.
Day 3: As good as day 2. Not sure what happened on day 1 maybe just an off day. Updated my rating to reflect better service and food, although I still think the rooms are uncomfortable.
The settings are as others have said, and front of building are in keeping with its age.
