Capo Vaticano Sofitel has the potential of being perfect. The location, private white sand beach, stupendous crystal clear turquoise sea, beautiful grounds, lovely salt water pool, great spa and luxurious spacious rooms ..... all the makings of a spectacular holiday .... But there's a but!!

I have travelled the length and breadth of Italy and have always experienced warm and welcoming hospitality, a feeling of 'mi casa, tu casa',  nothing is ever too much trouble, unfortunately the management of this lovely hotel have adopted a somewhat hostile attitude towards their guests.  Clients are made to feel like an inconvenience, any minor request is not only met with negativity, but we even expericed untruths, I don't think I've ever heard 'non e possibile' so many times .... contrarily in Italy it's normally 'certo non e problema'.

The staff who on the whole are lovely and accommodating are, unfortunately constrained by the rigid rules and regulations of this dictatorial style of management.  Such a shame as this place really could be paradise, instead it feels like you've just paid a small fortune to stay at some kind of correction centre!

I do hope Sofitel take note and observe my comments as I'm not one of life's complainers......I am one of life's holiday makers who spends a fortune on precious holidays, I am one who would love to come back regularly to this gem of a location, but probably won't until you've invested some seroius training sessions on the art of hospitality for your management team of this establishment.

An amazing hotel remotely located by a beautiful beach. But after a few heated discussions with a couple of the staff on first couple of days where we all aligned our priorities - yes we are the customer - we discovered that most of the staff are attentive and hard working. A special mention to Rocco , an incredible waiter alway with a smile on his face. Hotel management is certainly to blame for the staff appearing down trodden and weary. Happy to talk a good game in light of appearing to solve issues. Therefore you need to politely persist to get your required resolution. The hotel is at the bottom of a very steep hill min 15-20 mins of walk to nearest restaurant. They have missed a trick providing free/subsidised bus service to local restaurants / town. Local taxis are v expensive. The hotel breakfast and dinner are buffet and generally pretty good. Lunch menu is limited and gets boring real quick. So if you fancy trying local restaurants (highly recommended) and you don’t have a car, and don’t have calves like popeye then local cabs are expensive. The beach is amazing with strong under currents at times. The pool is salt water and good. The sea views and sunsets are breathtaking.

The hotel has a lovely beach and nice clean modern rooms.
Most of the staff are great !
Special mention to Rocco who looked after 19 of us !

The worst part of the hotel resort is the management.
The hotel manager is arrogant and runs the place like a concentration camp!
No customer service .
Sofetel would do well to look at this and make some changes

Beautiful hotel in a quiet and remote part of Italy. Friendly staff and good food. Beaches are rocky but the water is very clear. Pool area is very relaxing. Worth a visit if you are planning to head down to this area.

Hot water issues! Very difficult to have a hot shower and they couldn’t get it fixed in a week. Other guests having the same problem. No compensation or even sympathy by management for issue. Clean rooms and otherwise visually appealing and comfortable stay. Breakfast got way too boring after 7 days and hotel was definitely not generous with refilling empty food stations. Always got the impression you were taking the last item at buffet and then refilled with tiny quantities. Staff were great and good natured. You have to have a car hired, otherwise you’re totally stranded on resort. There is nothing around. Car was useful to stock up on water and other sundry items which were way over charged for on resort. Also great to escape half board dinner which is only possible with a car. Hot water was the major issue. Don’t stay here if you like hot showers. Water started to warm up after letting the shower run for 25min. Such a waste of water. Good place for complete rest, don’t expect any entertainment at hotel and bar is frighteningly lacking in atmosphere or warmth. 8 am Friday morning mowing of lawn outside room was unnecessary and not nice to be woken up by. Rooms were large, clean and well maintained and great housekeeping. Internet worked well 70% of time and definitely not working on beach or by pool. You get food 4g mobile signal all over the resort. Didn’t try the spa as treatments were more expensive than in luxury hotels in big world cities. There is a lady that roams the beach offering massages which is an excellent alternative.

Perfect with kids, picturesque large beach and garden. Nice pool but no sand beach but small stones. Rooms are spacey and comfortable. We went on half board and the food was not for my taste. The restaurant is crowded and you loose the Italian dining by the sea feeling.
