Update 8/21/18 - The manager has resolved the situation to my satisfaction, therefore I am changing the rating from 1 to 3 stars. I do not know what will be done about the bugs. There is also a problem with housekeeping and customer service that I hope she addresses and fixes. But I am glad she at least acknowledged there was an issue and did what she could to remedy it. I still would never stay at this hotel again because of the bugs and the other problems I had.

Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had in a hotel. When we arrived everything looked great, room seemed clean at first glance, great selection of channels on the TV.

Then I wake up at 4am the first night there and find a large black beetle running around in the bathroom. After checking the internet to confirm it was not a cockroach, I got rid of it and was willing to let it go. I can deal with a bug or 2 if they are not cockroaches or bedbugs.

Soon after that, my girlfriend woke up and found a Roly poly in the bathroom. Then found multiple others. Also upon closer inspection of the corners of the bathroom there were dead Roly polys in every corner, along with what looked at the time like insect droppings. I later determined that it was probably coffee grounds, so obviously the bathroom was not cleaned properly after the last guests left.

Then we found a millipede crawling around on the wall along with more Roly polys. It seemed like every time we collected a bug either dead or alive, more took its place. By the end I had found almost 15 bugs, both dead and alive. I gathered them in the ice bucket and brought it to the front desk around 530 for the first time. The guy who was setting up breakfast and manning the front counter said there was nothing he could do about it and I had to talk to a manager who would be in between 830 and 9. He did look at the bugs. He also said it was normal for bugs to come in from outside. I am aware of that and as I said I can deal with a bug or 2, but not 15. That is considered an infestation.

Went back at 845 to eat breakfast and the manager was still not in when we checked out at 930. I had the bug filled bucket with me but the guy at the front desk never asked to see inside. I informed him I was taking the ice bucket with me so I could bring it back and show the manager later. I left my number and he promised that he would have her call me as soon as she got in.

1230 rolled around and I had not received a call so I called to see if she was in. I was told she was out sick and would call me on Monday. This happened on a Saturday. The young guy on the phone then went on to accuse me of making it up to get a discount on the room. He also said that as soon as I took the ice bucket off the property all my claims meant nothing, as if I would plant the evidence. He said people went to look at the room and didn't find much (of course they didn't find much, I have all the bugs with me). He said the exterminator was there this week spraying for bugs and that's why we found all the dead ones (also found many live ones so they apparently didn't do a great job). That also doesn't explain why the coffee grounds are all over the bathroom or why the dead bugs were never cleaned up before we rented the room.

In the end after being accused of trying to scam them to save a few bucks, I'm no longer interested in a discount on the room. I've decided to leave reviews everywhere and upload pictures wherever possible.  No one goes to a hotel and expects to find bugs alive and dead all over the place. If it does happen, it needs to be handled far differently than this. We were booked for 4 days but checked out after the first night because we could not stay there another night. We found another hotel across the street (comfort inn) that costs a few dollars more but is much nicer and thankfully bug free. Stay away from quality inn hillsville. Customer service is terrible and the place seems to be filled with bugs (If one room is, more probably are).

Pleasantly surprised!!! Very quiet, great breakfast! Nice pool area- soft beds and clean - recently upgraded rooms! We forgot toothbrushes and tooth paste - they where helpful at the front desk! For the price a great value..

It was a quiet hotel. The room was clean. Great location for our vacation travel. I was overcharged when paying for my room and issues checking out because of it. They told me it would be fixed but have yet to see the refund.

Room needs some repair work. Bathroom door shredded at bottom of door. Something on carpet in room around entrance door . Looks like chipped paint and other stuff that came in under door from outside in walkways. At night you could see people walking bye in the gap under door. Wonder what else comes in that way. Had to step over all of it. Not a good first impression. Room was very clean and neat other than entrance door issue. Front desk young man was very courteous and helpful both checking in and out. I would come back and stay here on my travels thru just because of his help.

Not a luxury hotel, but it was fine for a quick late night stop during our most recent move. The bathroom was ran down with mold and a hole in the wall. Beds were clean and comfortable.

Definitely a 2 star hotel with outdoor access but decent free hot breakfast, very reasonable rates, and friendly staff. Not the best night's sleep but a compromise for the value.

The price is reasonable. About $30 to $50 cheaper than the competition, and they have a full breakfast bar. From what I understand they are updating due to new ownership so the hotel is getting some needed TLC. Did not get to use the pool it was outdoor, and not in season. The fitness center is up to date.

The staff was great. Breakfast was good. We liked that smoking rooms were an option.

Clean rooms comfy bed, waffles for breakfast. 4 stars because had external doors, felt like a cheaper motel converted to a quality inn, but still good stay here! Sleep here!

We used the room as a quick sleeping spot on the way to Florida. The room was clean with 2 beds and a refrigerator. The staff was polite and quick.

Just just stayed for the one night but had a great stay will definitely stay again if in the area staff is very helpful and a nice. Breakfast in the morning is good eggs and sausage your basic cereal oatmeal orange juice apple juice stuff. Can't go wrong for under $60

Ok so, I called to make a reservation and from that point forward it was pleasant experience.. The front desk professionals name is Brett, or Brent.. I'm a little slow.. lol.. Hopefully they do not employ both, Id like to make sure that correct person gets the credit... Brett is very well mannered, professional and explains things in a clear manner.... He is also Veteran (thank you for your service Brett)... He has a lot to offer this establishment and I hope that they treat him as such... Keep up the great work Brett.....

Great hotel for the price. Everything was clean & friendly staff. Great breakfast included. Direct TV service in rooms was awesome!

Room was clean. Staff was nice and helpful. Full breakfast served and it was fully stocked the whole time.

The only issue that I had was the fact that there was only one ice machine working. The staff, from the front desk to maids, we're all friendly and helpful. And the beds were comfortable to give you a good, restful sleep. I would use this place again if I'm in the area.

It's located right off I-77, the rooms are nice and have all the basic essentials. The service was fine and there was a hot breakfast that lasted until 0930 so we didn't have to wake up early to just to eat.

Staff was very laid back to the point of not seeming to care about us as guests, just because we booked through price line.

Nice place to stay overnight. WiFi was slow, but other than that it was a nice stay. Didn't hear any other guests in nearby rooms. The pool is outdoors, so it can be cold. Breakfast was good and hot. Staff was courteous and professional.

Wonderful! Clean and comfortable. No hassle about pets. Good breakfast. Did not care for their brand of coffee, but there was a McDonald's across the street so we had coffee there. No problem. Friendly managers. Will definitely look for another Quality Inn on our vacation. Reasonably priced and AAA discount.

Front desk guy this am (330a) was great!! Tyvm =) room wss very nice and clean, breakfast was awesome also and we got a late check out due to arriving late and being exhausted!!

It's nice and clean. We're short a set of towels though. 2 people and only one set of towels.

We stay here when we travel to Iowa. Clean and friendly service. They never have any problems accepting my dog (Jack Russell)

We only stayed a short time- we were passing through on our way home driving from florida to Ohio. The hotel was clean and pretty! The pool looked lovely- but we weren't there long enough to enjoy it! Overall a great stay!

A little dated. Wi-Fi connection is a little weak. Nice beds, though.

Decent place to sleep for the night when you have to pull off the highway. The free breakfast was actually pretty good too.

The Quality Inn was okay for the most part. The rooms are as you would expect, nothing special. The rates are a little higher than what they should be if you don't check book in advanced, in my opinion. The things that bugged me the most were that the internet was abysmal. Someone or something was bogging down the connection and videos were barely watchable and they use powdered egg mix for their breakfast eggs.

One room had old carpet anothere had new. The place was not bad however, we had 2 yellow stains on our sheet.
The breakfast was quite alright, better than other 4-star hotels we stayed in thus holiday season.

The price is right this a clean room and a no frills experience. The building and rooms are showing their age, but there have been some upgrades. My only complaint is the heat was underpowered for the room and weather. It never got quite warm enough.

Exterior was not impressive, however the room was clean, although dark and uninviting. Needs updating. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Overall the stay was adequate.

Nice hotel to stay in for a night

First off, let me say that this is possibly a candidate for worst hotel to exist, like ever. I had to edit my review because the night just kept going downhill. The lobby is incredibly dark, as if you were a star in The Shining, the toilets are unacceptably wobbly to the point where you feel like you've been riding a drunken Irish man and the space in the bathroom is so tiny that every time you sit down on terror toilet you smash your arm against the wall. Also, the bathroom door lock is broken so anyone could barge in and witness you with your head in terror toilet, barfing your guts out at this horrible excuse for a hotel. The pullout beds are paper thin so you can feel the support bars under it and the shower is so loud when you turn it on.

Don't even try this hell hole.

Stay away! Rude and ignorant! Tried to refuse me a room due to my well trained and well mannered service dog. Charged me extra for my service dog as well. The brunette was rude, and wearing stained clothing. She clearly didn't want to be bothered with doing her job.
