This is the second time that I have stayed at The Glasshouse and it most certainly
won’t be the last. If you want to make your trip that extra bit special, then
this is the place to stay. The hotel itself is beautiful inside and out and is positioned perfectly to get around the city by foot or public transport.
Where this hotel really differentiates itself from the competition is the staff. The staff are absolutely superb. So welcoming, knowledgeable and happy to help in any way shape or form. Everybody that works at The Glasshouse prides themselves in going above and beyond to make sure your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Two people in particular that played a big part in this were Jonathan and Ryan. They really made our family feel very welcome and our young children loved the fun atmosphere that the staff created for them. Cannot thank them all enough. We had a great time.

Great staff and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was lovely but a bit on the pricey side- £25 a head for the cooked option. Only issue is the vacuum flush system in the bathrooms. When anyone utilises it the whole hotel knows!

A really enjoyable stay, albeit only for one night. The staff made us feel very welcome. The exterior is a beautiful old building with modern architectural additions. Interior design is modern and attractive especially their bar area, with plenty of high quality whisky. Breakfast was delicious. I will definitely stay here again, when I next come to Edinburgh

Gorgeous hotel with fantastic staff and a great bar/lounge area. Perfectly located for our trips to the gardens, royal mile, and comedy clubs. Highly recommend!

We had an amazing stay and the manager Tomasz was brilliant in making sure our stay was extra special. The bed was so cozy and the views / garden terrace was amazing. It didn't feel like you were in the city. The breakfast was good and the staff were so friendly. The location was just perfect. We loved our stay. 10/10 for everything

Fantastic experience.

Upon entering the staff were top drawer.

Nothing too much trouble. All the staff from concierge, reception, room service, breakfast waiting staff, all focussed on the customer, all trained really well.

The service stood out so much, it was delightful.

As for the room we were in , spot on.

Will we stay again, you bet!

It's a nice hotel, and the staff is friendly. However, our reservation for 2 connecting rooms was messed up and our children were split up with parents in different non connecting rooms. Very upsetting and inconvenient. Speaking of inconvenient, the layout of the hotel is very annoying. If your room is on either the 1st or 2nd floors, in order to get to the ground level to get to the street, you must go all the way to the 3rd floor and walk the length of the hotel, then get the elevator (lift) to the ground. Unfortunately, unless you are an expert navigator and can find the elevator, you take the stairs to the 3rd floor for this purpose. This little quirk gets old VERY quickly. It is a very big pain when all you want to do is leave the hotel or get to your room after walking around the city.

Fist and foremost, I would like to thank the staff for their wonderful service. They exceeded my expectations. This was my honeymoon with my husband and the staff found a way to surprise us with something special each time. They left us a handwritten note, flowers on our bed, cookies and just warmed us each time we spoke to anyone from the front desk, concierge, bartender, the restaurant staff and the room cleaners. Our room overlooked the city and if you are looking for a stay right in the middle of the city with breath-taking views, extremely clean rooms, great food and AMAZING staff - book this hotel.

Got a itison deal for 4 course dinner and cocktail, it was very good indeed. Set menu but food was excellent. Bar area is beautiful with a nice fire place feature. We were recommended to have a walk around the roof top garden but the weather wasn't so good, from what we could see it looked lovely however. We wished we could stay in one of the rooms but needed to get home. Service was excellent, very much a 5 star. Next time we'll try and book a overnight stay. Highly recommended for city centre luxury.

Oh they are super awesome. The staff really take care of you and they try to anticipate all your desire as soon as you walk in. The rooms are definitely clean, with nice furniture, firm mattress and a good selection of entertainment magazines. There is both tea and herbals and also a good selection of Nespresso capsules. I definitely recommend to get breakfast there, it excites your stomach from the very beginning.

We stayed here twice in our 2 trips to Edinburgh. The hotel is OK and the rooms were OK, not the best but adequate. My biggest issue is how dis-jointed the hotel is. We stayed in a room that took 2 different elevators and long walks down halls just to get to our room. I know they developed this hotel out of a building that was not a hotel but it seems to be a’maze’ to go between doors and / or rooms.

All in all it was fine and has a good central location. The food was good, and I really liked the breakfast they served.

Nice hotel. Stayed for a couple of nights then got stuck in Edinburgh because of the snow. Had to pay for a couple more nights. Hotel charged same money but gave us a suite. Service was excellent all round.

This is an excellent hotel to stay in, we stayed in a garden view suite which was amazing !! The views of the garden are brilliant, the views from the garden onto Edinburgh a brilliant. Every staff member we passed in the hotel greeted us politely. We also had some drinks in the "The Snug" which again was excellent. Probably the best hotel we have stayed in when staying in Edinburgh !!

Had a great time staying at the Glasshouse Hotel. Had a suite on the frontside with a nice view. Maybe a bit louder than the rooms on the backside. Staff was exceptional friendly and well trained. Would stay there again

Although it is okay o the Marriott family, this hotel has not the ordinary chain style. It is featured with very unique rooms and the entire hotel is also very unique. Very well located, it is an excellent option for a special stay in Edinburgh.

Stayed here for an overnight visit to Edinburgh and was surprised with a free upgrade to the suites. Very thankful for the lovely experience and the facilities within the suite was indeed top notch. Very lovely room that was clean, tidy and spacious. My one minor criticism was that the Nespresso coffee provided didn't come with any milk or sugar. The outdoor terrace is a shared common space and in the summer, I'm sure it would be lovely; large gardens, two large sitting areas, a function room and a beautiful view of Calton Hill. Breakfast was good with a decent selection of food. Overall, the hotel is really good, staff were amazing, professional and it was a very pleasant stay.

One of the best hotels and one of the best rooms that we have stayed in so far. The staff were absolutely fantastic - they showed us around the grounds and to the room. They also had a welcome gift for us as we let them know in advance that we would be coming for a special occasion.

The room was great - we upgrades to one of the suites. It had two TVs, a huge bathroom/shower and tons of room. It was fairly costly but was definitely worth what we paid.

The only negative was the walking distance from the entrance of the hotel to the room. But that is most likely due to the hotel being a former church and having an odd (but original) layout.

We both would highly recommend this hotel. 10/10!

The position is very central and you can reach the main attractions of the city at walking distance.
The facade and the interiors (corridors, bar and terrace) of the hotel are outstanding, but unfortunately the lobby did not keep the same atmosphere.
The room was the right size, with an amazing "fluffy" bed and it was clean.
The bathroom furniture could be improved a bit, but it is a personal taste.
The personnel was helpful and friendly and we did not have any issue.
Recommended for a weekend in Edinburgh.

We had a wonderful time here.
Note that the parking area is difficult to find, so make sue you have directions or GPS. Also make sure to use the post code that the hotel provides in their confirmation email. If you want to get the discount parking price, make sure to take your token with you to the hotel. They will validate at the reception desk.
The hotel was nicely decorated and clean. The only thing to note is that it is a very large hotel, and you may have to take multiple elevators/staircases to navigate to your room, the bar, the very nice rooftop garden, and the breakfast locations.
The staff was friendly and very helpful.
The hotel is located a few blocks from the Royal Mile, but it is a nice walk and takes you past several places of interest (the Scotland Memorial is one).
Breakfast is not included in the price. Due to our schedule we did not have breakfast here.
We did have room service for a very late dinner one night. It was good and reasonably priced for room service.
We would stop here again if we were in the area. And we recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a wonderful hotel.

Comfy rooms, elegant decor, crazy inner navigation from lobby to rooms. Take elevator from lobby up to 3rd floor then down to 1st floor for the best, oversized rooms (albeit with a room above you, with heavy feet). Roof top garden lovely. Breakfast is good value. Friendly attentive staff.

Room was good, but the shower was clogged. There's some good and bad design choices. I do like how the bed was in the middle of the room facing away from the window. I didn't like how the sink faucet is too short to be very useful. No outlets near the bed.

10

Simply amazing. Great attentive staff. Clean fairly large rooms (especially if you are in a balcony suite!). The roof top garden makes you feel has if you are in a country retreat, with Calton Hill as backdrop. Decent continental breakfast (there's an option to upgrade). Does the job before starting the day.

The hallways are dark, and the layout is a bit odd. Only access to third floor are elevators. The bar is a bit strange, as in it looks like a China cabinet, and not your traditional "bar bench". Not a deal breaker, but still... strange... to an American.

Located within city and easy access to other parts of Edinburgh by foot. Tram is located about a block away that goes to airport (about 50 min). Would recommend.

The hotel room was fine, a very noisy air conditioner but the bed was very comfy. The layout of the hotel was slightly strange - you have to get an elevator to the third room and take the stairs down to your room. It didn't feel like particularly good value for the money but we had a pleasant stay nonetheless.

Stayed here a long while ago, and it was fantastic. As we entered we were met by helpful staff in a rather elegant hall. Was upgraded on the day from a standard suite to a premier one for our anniversary - no extra charge - which was wonderful. Each suite is dedicated to a type of whisky - ours I remember was a smoked, which was very nice (decanter of the particular whisky in the room). Every detail was there - the decor, the stylings - even the special filtered bottled water! The bed was extraordinarily comfortable - I was feeling quite ill the day we stayed and I slept so well - literally sinking into the bed. I've never had such a comfortable snooze since!! There was a nice outdoor lounging area, too. Would definitely stay again!

Stayed here for our anniversary a while ago and we're upgraded to the Glenfarclas suite which had a sauna and jacuzzi in the bathroom. The views across the city are stunning and we were made to feel very welcome. We cancelled our restaurant reservations to have a private dining meal in our room. Can't fault this place really.

Good hotel overall. Service was great, but overall feel was not the best. It was a quarter mile going from the lobby to our room and back (GPS measured). The breakfast was more overpriced than it usually is. this was made more apparent by the place next door that had a dull scottish breakfast for 4 pounds.

Daniel Sennet

Actually, the place was super cool. Absolutely huge. One annoying thing was that we had to take an elevator, then walk quite abit, then walk down two flights to get to our room. Otherwise, beautiful place, big room, great location. Would stay again.

A very nice hotel with great decor. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room provided was comfortable with everything required for an overnight stay, including tea /coffee making facilties.

The dining experience was good with very helpful staff providing suggestions for accompaniments.
Overall a pleasure to stay there.

The service was very good and the room was spotless. The hotel has been open ten years now and it's showing it's age in places. The room fixtures and fittings are becoming somewhat worn. Given the price charged, I'd have expected a little more for my money. It is a very good hotel and it ticks all the boxes, but it didn't blow me away.

With a name like The Glasshouse, a girl can't help but conjure up romantic thoughts! I stayed here when it first opened and was really impressed with not only the rooms, but the views. Oh the views! Coming to Edinburgh is all about the shopping and the lovely architecture so being able to sit on your balcony, sipping a cold glass of wine, after a day of pounding the city streets, taking in the skyline - is nothing short of divine!
The rooms are furnished to a high standard and have a boutique feel, there's a distinct air of luxury about the place. I'd been told by friends it was lovely and it really exceeded my expectations. The staff were friendly and helpful where needed. It's located in a busy part of the town, not far away from Princes Street and there are enough bars and restaurants to keep you entertained. If, that is, you leave your room...
