Very nice hotel. Fantastic breakfast. Dinner however not as expected. Waiters were either very busy or very impatient.

The room is good but Parking lot entrance is very narrow. Water heater had an issue as it flows suddenly very hot water (burned my scalp) followed by very cold water when it is set at warm temperature or middle position. Issue was reported without taking an action from hotel staff claiming it was a short stay (3 nights only).

This hotel will make you feel like you went back in time (in a good way). Gorgeous settings and it's in the perfect location in Villach. The beds were comfortable and the service was amazing!

An excellent historical hotel in the heart of Villach, designed in a traditional Austrian way. The hotel looks great both inside and outside. The rooms aren’t too bog, however look and feel spacious. The staff is friendly and keen on giving you directions, or a list of things to do in Villach. Would definitely stay again.

Dinner for one at the hotel post...
After check-in, a nice handwritten letter from the hotel managment awaited me on my bed... which led me as a result to a nice spacious and well maintained room and dinner.

...What an extraordinary surprise dinner I’ve been invited to, which was perfectly presented from the kitchen and their waiter!
1. Welcome from box with lovely surprise for your tastebuds...
2. Main course was an “alp Ox, warped in crepe skin, aside asparagus mashed potatoes.
3. Dessert variation which takes you to the next level... close to heaven.
As usually the ambience in their restaurant is comfortable and a pleasure. So was the entire evening at the restaurant of hotel post.

I head a pleasant stay and a great dinner.
The kitchen is recommendable so the hotel as well.
Maybe it was luck to receive this time such a nice treat. But I’m certain the hotel team is striving for their best, to reach up to the next level and make it up for the experiences of those others, which why ever may not have been that nice.

The Romantik Hotel Post has a long and storied history, dating from 1500, when it was a palace for a distinguished family of [the State of] Carinthia’s nobility.
Since 1748, it has always been a guesthouse or hotel, providing a gracious place of rest for travelers ranging from politics, royalty, and names from the film, music, and theater industries. The term ’Post’ refers to ‘billeting’, as in housing the military, which it has also done. When I asked about the history of the hotel, the very young person at the front desk, told me it had once been a ‘Post’ Office.
It was elegant in a sort of aging way. Our room did not live up to any of advertised descriptions; it was old, cramped, hot, and without air conditioning. There was breakfast in the morning in a separate area, from any other hotel guests. It was heavy on the breads.
Architectually, it had lots of interesting nooks and crannies, and uneven floors, a step up or down here and there, indicating adding on. There was a lovely outside garden area to enjoy coffee or an outside dinner, as well as street side dining.

The place is historic, our room was clean but outdated.
During our dinner on the terras outside we spotted several rats which was quite concerning.

Splendid dinner, great service. A bit fancy for what I expected, but still had a great experience. Dinner was quite formal but the meals were original and with a lot of enthusiasm prepared eventhough it was not that expensive. 9/10

Lovely hotel in the historic heart of Villach. Very traditional Austrian hotel with an excellent breakfast. Have stayed there before and liked it enough for a return visit.

Judging by the pictures, they have upgraded quite a bit since we visited in 2006. It was still amazing though. Even though it was very cold and they had turned off their heat for the summer. The meals were amazing and it's located in a great area. It's really old. It has such a great history. There isn't a bad room though they are a bit small, but I excpected that. Whenever you're in Europe, usually when a hotel is Romantik they'll have smaller rooms. We soon found this out after staying at 4 of them. The Hilton seemed like a house after all the romantik hotels. We had no choice, we were on a guided tour. The Hilton was afterward. And if space is limited in a city, Hilton even has some romantik hotels of their own! Romantik Hotel Post is amazing. If you're ever in Villach, stay there. They're a tad expensive. (Nothing horrible though)
